CHAPTER 14: Suspision+Strategy=Target!

The night sky welcomed the morning light waking the sleeping world.

Canute dressed up and headed downstairs. His legs were numb due to the cold water. They have been staying at Aron's inn for the past few days.

Breakfast was served. They accepted graciously since the food was scarce.

"....Salted mashed potatoes, bread, and a chicken wing. Not bad." Chaol chomped on his meal.

"I wish they'd give some warm milk," Raymond complained.

"Now now. The herd barely produces milk since the patches are covered with sheets of snow."

Canute didn't say anything about it. True the food was bland but he didn't really care about it. Instead, he changed the subject.

"Chaol.Did you deliver my message?"

Chaol nodded instantly.

"The mages will gather in the central Henson tower by nine in the morning."

"...I see."

Chaol looked at Raymond who was poking on his mashed potatoes then back at Canute who seemed to be doing the same thing.

".....These two are hopeless." He said to himself.

Both of them internally screamed looking at their portion of food that had turned cold within moments of time.

They headed out to the central tower before the appointed time.

"Today's the day. You two know what the actual plan is." Canute announced turning to them who nodded in agreement.

By nine the mages from their respective towers gathered in the hall of Henson. Canute felt anxious for the first time since the great calamity.

He took a deep breath and stepped up at the center of the hall. He could feel their eyes glaring at him while their tongue in cheek expression was well defined. Murmurs that filled the hall silenced down as he started off with his speech.

"I sincerely express my gratitude to all who are present here despite their busy schedule."

All the mages were amazed by his choice of words. Soon enough Canute became the center of attraction for them.

Raymond and Chaol sat on the front row with a looking pleased. All was going smoothly.

Canute introduced his plan focusing on the incidents that occurred until the present.

With the help of Chaol's illusion magic, he explained his strategy with vigilance.

"That's the conclusion of my plan."

There was silence in the hall. The mages were speechless. They all burst into applause.

"We will go with his plan." They nodded in agreement.

"Well done." Raymond slapped Canute's back grinning.

"Uhhh...Thanks?" Canute replied rubbing his back.

His eyes spotted Jason who was standing near the door biting the tip of his thumb.

Canute smirked, "What will you plan next Phantom?"
