How We Meet

"Can we have two medium Oreo ice caps, and two cinnamon buns?" said Maya

cheerfully to the cashier, while I waited for her on the tables. "Should we eat here

or go back to school?" I asked Maya when she came back with our orders, as I

noticed a boy wearing a white Jubba and a white Tobi; we stared at each other for

at least ten straight seconds. He looked like in his 20s, with a little beard (which

was still growing), and deep, greenish attractive eyes. I couldn't resist it, straight

eyebrows, a round face, and he was kind of handsome, I thought and turned

around. Even though he wasn't smiling, his expression looked like he was smiling

a hidden smile.

"Let's eat here," said Maya. okay, I say while sipping my cold drink.

A few minutes went by, and by the time we finished our drinks and buns. "Let's

skip class this period since it's the last period".

"Ok," I responded. Maya looked at me with a weird face she made. Whenever I say

yes to her without an argument, her face has this writing that says "something's

up".

"It's not what you think," I said quickly before she got any ideas. "Then what is

it"?

"It's just," I say, turning around and looking toward the boy. I see. Maya quickly

realized what I was trying to say and said "ohhhh". I started smiling a little but

realized Maya was getting all excited, so I stopped smiling.

"So, you want to get to know him?" she says, leaning forward to make sure no one

can hear us." I can't," I tell her. I mean, he looks religious to me and shy.

Can we go to the park? Maya nodded and started heading out as a Muslim man

entered, and just as we were leaving he said "As-Salam-u-Alaikum, Rahan". I turned to realize that he was talking to the boy, whom I looked at for ten straight

seconds. As I looked, he was smiling; it was the most beautiful smile I have ever

seen in my entire life. With white straight teeth, and dimples on each side of his

cheeks.

I quickly caught up with Maya, who was ahead of me. "Rahan," I repeated. What a

beautiful name.

The park is empty today since it's a weekday, and everyone is working. I have

always liked this park because it has so many flowers and trees with a lot of shade

and water. We walked around while talking about our subjects and teachers while

talking about school all of a sudden we started talking about the guy from Tims.

"His name is Rahan '' I finally said, hoping Maya wouldn't get any idea of how I

knew his name, she asked "Do you like him". I don't like him, I think I'm in love

with him" I reply;

Maya pretended that she fainted on the grass and finally, when she finished her act

she said "That fast, but you just met him".

"I know, it's love at first sight".
