Leo is a 33-year-old office worker who has been plagued by recurring nightmares for the past month. In these nightmares, he witnesses the enigmatic world of Elysium through the eyes of a young orphan cultivator, shunned by society. However, Leo's life takes an unexpected turn when he dies on Earth and reincarnates as the very same boy he had been seeing in his nightmares, thanks to a mysterious oracle system. Equipped with the power to predict the causes of events that shape destiny, Leo embarks on a journey within the world of Elysium. He uses the oracle system's predictive abilities akin to a skilled gambler, seeking to uncover the underlying causes behind the events unfolding around him. With each successful prediction, Leo grows more powerful, harnessing the system's assistance to identify the factors responsible for reshaping the fate of cultivators and other influential figures. As Leo observes the triumphs and downfalls of the inhabitants of Elysium, he maintains a detached mindset, refraining from interfering in their affairs. His sole focus is on survival and leading a cautious, steady life, steering clear of the tumultuous struggles that grip Elysium. Despite witnessing the grandeur and the tragic consequences of the world he now inhabits, Leo remains distant and indifferent, harboring a resolve to navigate this unfamiliar realm without being drawn into its conflicts.
After learning about the causes of the last few day's events and obtaining additional information about a person who was in the same sect as himself, Leo rephrased his inital question and asked the old man "Elder, How can I get out of here?"
Upon hearing the question for the second time, the old man wondered why the young man hadn't shown any interest in the trials or the place they were in. He decided to confront him and ask, "Why do you wish to leave here, and why haven't you asked about my origins or this place?" The old man paused, waiting for the young man to respond.
Leo heard the old man's question and looked around, contemplating why he should be curious about a stranger in a place full of corpses. Despite his misgivings, he managed to feign an expression of contrition and spoke respectfully to the old man, hoping not to offend him. His primary concern was avoiding the same fate as the corpses littering around the floor. "I apologize, Elder, I completely forgot to inquire about this place and your identitiy. Could you please enlighten me? Also, I hope the stability of the surrounding space is not in any jeopardy."
Upon hearing young man's unconvincing tone and noticing his expression, the old man responded, "You're not a very good liar, are you? but do not worry, we have plenty of time. My domain is stable and will not collapse for another day." He then proceeded to explain Leo's location and his own background. "I am an immortal from a higher plane, or you could say higher world. This is my immortall domain. After I was banished and died, I left a piece of my soul here with my domain, along with all of my knowledge and treasures. I did this with the hope of finding a worthy inheritor for my legacy."
As Leo listened to the old man's explanation, he couldn't help but feel a sense of disillusionment. The old man seemed to believe that he was some kind of big shot, even in death, and was trying to prove this to the world through his supposed knowledge and treasures. But Leo saw through this facade. Despite all of his wealth and knowledge, the old man had ultimately failed to survive and had died like anyone else.
Through the people who inherited his legacy and had become successful in their own right, the old man was trying to assert his influence on the world even after his death. He seemed to be asking the world, "Why did I die? Don't you see the people who use my inheritance ruling the world?" But Leo knew that deep down, the old man must have realized that he could no longer hear the answer, and that it no longer mattered because he had already passed away.
In the end, Leo concluded that old man was simply a person who refused to admit his own mortality and was clinging to his wealth and status as a way to deny his own failures. It was a sad and pathetic realization, but one that Leo couldn't help but feel as he listened to the old man's words.
Upon finishing his explanation, the old man turned his gaze towards the young man in front of him. He noticed that young man was lost in thought, wearing an expression that he couldn't quite understand. The old man felt a twinge of annoyance at his, but he decided to explain further nonetheless.
"There are two types of trials." he began. "One is physical, and the other is spiritual. The young man who came before you has already completed the physical trial. This means that the only challenge left for you is the spiritual trial. Would you like to atempt it?"
Leo's attention was snapped back to reality by the old man who was talking about trials. He couldn't help but notice the frustration etched on the old man's face, and he wondered what had caused it. Attempting to conceal his own annoyance, Leo replied with polite but indifferent tone, "Thank you for the offer, Elder, but I don't feel worthy enough to participate in the trials. If It's not too much trouble, could you please show me the exit?".
Leo observed the old man's shocked expression as he declined the offer, and the old man spoke up in disbelief. "Young man do you not wish to obtain treasures from an immortal? As far as I'm aware, immortals don't exist in your world. If you fail to seize the opportunities that come your way, you'll never become a powerful cultivator and won't survive in this world."
The old man's constant boasting about his treasures and his lecture on survival irked Leo, and he felt his temper beginning to flare."Am I really supposed to take lessons on power and survival from a fuc*ing dead old man?" he thought, almost blurting out his innermost feelings. However, he managed to keep his compuser and responded, "I appreciate your concern, Elder, but I just want to leave and return home."
As Leo declined the old man's offer, he overhead the old man murmuring, "This is the first time someone has refused my offer." The old man the explained, "Young man, there are formations in this place that prevent you from leaving. You must be aware of them. Even I cannot break through them since I am only a mere fragment of my former self. The only way to escape is by completing the trials."
Leo couldn't help but think, 'I just knew there would be some restirictions.' he summoned the courage to ask the old man, "Elder, what happens if I can't complete the trial?" he hoped that the answer would be different from what he was expecting, but his hopes were shattered when the old man replied with a cold, hard truth, "You need only look around you to see the corpses of those who failed the trial. Unfortunately, if you too are unable to complete it, you'll join them."
Feeling trapped, Leo knew he had no other choice but to contiune with the trial. He tried to appease the old man, "Please guide me, Elder. I'll do my best to complete the trial and prove myself worthy of your inheritance." He hoped that flattering the old man would make him more amenable to assisting him with the trial.
