Chapter One

My eyes were blurry..

Sweat dripping off my forehead more from the anxiety I was facing rather than the fact that I was running..

My heart beat was unsteady reminding me of the heart shattering murder I had just witnessed. I tripped and landed on my face.. Ouch! My knee hurt!...

But I couldn't stop , if they had killed her they were probably coming for me or maybe both of us..

No! I couldn't let that happen..

I wouldn't! So I ran faster

..i let the wind cleanse the physical part of my pain..

Remind me that tomorrow could be better.. That it had to be, or at least I'd make her think it was..

Cause that was my responsibility and as a good soldier..

I wasn't going to give up on my mission

I quickly maneuvered the corners that led to our humble home and relief hit me as I saw it within a distance.. I was going to make it!

I stumbled inside the house I had learnt to call home and I was relieved when I saw my baby sister sleeping in her bed..

No idea of the horrors that the night beheld.

Lifting her slowly off the bed, I started making my way for the door when I heard voices downstairs..

THEY were here! Well there went my plan for not waking up this beautiful angel!

I shook her slowly and for a split second as her hazel eyes opened I forgot the pain..

I saw hope..

Then it turned into confusion.

Placing my finger on my lips I set her slowly on the floor

Her look was questioning but she understood the danger that was lurking in the air..

The quickest way out of the house was already blocked and the window wouldn't be of help as the dogs at the back would cause a ruckus..

I HAD TO FACE THEM!!

I made my way down the stairs almost breathlessly as the shivers on my spine reminded me that I had never killed anyone..

But maybe I didn't have to kill anyone..

"Hello?!.....Dad?... Is that you?? " I asked and watched all of them turn to me in confusion

"Where's mom ?? " I asked my voice breaking...

Then what had been quiet sobs turned into wails...

"I want my mother! " I screamt...

They were wearing masks but I could tell which one was the leader..

He had an aura of ego around him and his assassins seemed to appreciate it...

Well this could either go well or I'd be joining my mother in her grave..

Was I really ready to die? I didn't think so!! There was no turning back anyway ....

"Miss petrova?!"

I looked up and I was met by Mrs. Green's furious eyes... This was not going to end well.

I raised my eyebrow hoping she would repeat whatever question or theory she'd just said but she wasn't budging, she just stared at me like I had stolen candy from her kid.

"what? "

I tried to sound kind but my resting bitch face and voice didn't allow me ...her facials twisted in irritation then she scoffed and walked away..

That wasn't my fault was it? ..i didn't think so too

The nightmares were becoming too much but I didn't have much of a choice..

I had learnt how to live with it..

I wasn't going to stop now

Class ended uneventfully and I made my way to the crowded hallways of Williams high. I need to get to Nessa so that we could head home but I hadn't mastered the way to her class yet.. Only one way to find out!

Following my instincts I walked to what looked like the last place we were together..

Don't blame me this place was a palace that could put Queen Elizabeth to shame and it was my first day adding to my very picky good luck.

10 minutes later...

I felt like I was moving in circles.. All the hallways seemed identical but I didn't feel like asking anyone..

All the students here seemed so full of themselves as if they landed on the moon or something and we all had to notice..

oh spare me!!

"Katherine? " someone called from behind me

I turned to see two identical twins that at least didn't have that sassy look that oozed in the corridors.. I tried to smile..

Key word TRIED and I miserably failed earning a giggle from both of them

"I'm Mellisa " one of them spoke "I'm Malesi" her other self spoke ...differentiating them was going to be hell..."oh.. I am... "

"lost! " they both pointed out. OK so they were sorcerers ..not creepy at all

"you've been walking up and down this same hallway for the past 10 minutes..

Where you headed? " Mellisa asked.. I think

Being a bitch came naturally to me so I willingly didn't answer them..

What if they had been sent to kill me? OK too much..

But you can't blame me for not being trusting.. I learnt it the hard way

"oh.. Right.. That was prying ...ummmh we wanted to give you a tour of the school..

Before you ask we don't want anything in return.. We just figured you'd be a target for the witches in the school and thought we could be of help " the one I thought to be Malesi explained

It couldn't be that bad could it?.. I curtly nodded and they led me to this palace they called school..

They had a game room. A pool room...

A swimming pool.. Three foot ball fields.. Basketball...

Oooof! My mind was spinning by now..I mean why not just live here

There was a queen witch trio.. Just like every bad movie ever created by the names of Bancy Weddle , Brittany Marie and Beatrice Hatton.. Totally to watch out for...

Our last stop was the detention center where I could tell I'll have landed before my first three weeks so help me karma..

Speaking of karma we bumped into the cheerleaders themselves.. Typical..

"If it isn't Katherine Petrova!....you're famous around here sweetheart " the blonde spoke and I assumed her to be Bancy. The change of looks on the twins faces confirmed my thoughts making me excited..

" For someone new you sure don't stand out.. Did your makeup artist miss their schedule or what?" one of Bancy's skunks countered

" If I knew I was going to compete with people who were on a scale of one while on makeup I wouldn't have bothered being born..

I mean I'm not even trying..

Shame on you " I backed up staring at their expressions.

The twins nodded in approval fueling my confidence .

"Look ..I don't know who the hell you think you are but we run the show here and for your own good.. I'm thinking you should turn that attitude down! "

"Then at least start by looking like a boss not a petty attention seeker..

Maybe then I'll read the label before you introduce yourself "

The twitch in her gave me some satisfaction as she took a step towards me and I fixed my eyes on her , if her aim was to intimidate me she had failed miserably..

"Listen here bitch.. "

"Know your place before you call my girlfriend a bitch " a masculine voice cut in ..a quite beautiful artwork..

He had black curly hair that was carelessly messed up on his head, sapphire eyes that hypnotized you by just one look ,his lips were perfectly curved and spelt out danger ..you'd have to be blind to fail to notice his arrogance though..

And the fact that he also thought he could get anything he wanted..

Well not today mister!

I wanted to rub the fact that I could defend myself all over his angelic face so I glared at him ready to shoot back when he quickly grabbed my arm and pulled me to him

His masculine scent..

That Hard Rock he had for a body..

His sapphire eyes..

Damn!! Oh no.. I meant yes...

I meant... Aaaarrgggghh the fight..

I would deal with him later..

Who did he think he was anyway

Turning back to the trio..

Bancy looked quite pissed off..

I mean...

Steam was literally flaring off her..

She scoffed and walked away , her minions following after her..

So that was dealt with...

Back to this..

" I just saved you " he said with a don't care arrogance dripping off him

" I was handing it perfectly "

"Whatever ..... You owe me one" he winked and left.

I turned to Mellisa and Malesi ready to rant but they also seemed hypnotized...

I could almost swear they had no pulse

"you're dating Trevor fucking Kingston!!! "

Malesi shrieked...yaaay I could now tell the difference

" Not literally.. Figuratively...

Well actually nothingly..cause I don't know it.. I should sue him actually..

He's violated my freedom of choice " I whined

They both burst out laughing which made me feel dumber..

Was there a piece of this puzzle I was missing?

" Let's go get your sister before you can't walk on this corridors...

Cause by tomorrow your name will be all over the school " Mellisa said as a matter of fact as she dragged me along

So much for not drawing attention!
