Chapter Two

Tyson sucked in his teeth as he glared at Skylar. He so badly wanted to wipe that smug look on her face but he couldn't because he was raised never to hit women. If she continued to look at him in that manner, he just might forget his training.

"For every second you waste thinking, your girlfriend's condition worsens and I doubt even with your magnanimous wealth you'll be able to get an emergency donor within seconds. I'm your only hope right now, Mr. Knight." Skylar said calmly without a single expression on her face.

"Shut the fuck up and let me think!"

"Tick Tock! Time's ticking Mr. Knight."

"FINE!" He growls which led to Skylar arching her brow. "I'll fücking marry you! Does that make you happy?!"

"Not if you speak to me in that manner!" She snaps back, leaving Tyson baffled. That was the first time she lost her cool since she arrived.

"What the fuck is wrong with you?! You're making it seem like you're doing me a favor by me marrying you."

"You are! Thanks to me, your girlfriend will be getting a second chance at life and don't forget I'll be losing a kidney too. I'm giving more than I'm actually receiving. You and your girlfriend should be grateful!"

"Tch!" Tyson scoffed and hissed at the same time. "No one asked you to do this."

Skylar shrugged nonchalantly. "Either way, she's going to be alive because of me so, you're welcome."

The Nurse stood not so far from them, tapping her foot impatiently. She moved closer to them, unable to mask the frustration on her face. "So?! What's your decision?!"

"I'll be the donor... " Skylar said but was immediately interrupted by the Nurse before she could continue.

"Good. I'll go tell the Doctor to get everything ready for the surgery." She made an attempt to walk away but was stopped in her tracks by Skylar's next words.

"Buuut... Only after I have my marriage certificate in my hands. Only and only then will I donate my kidney."

Jay and Tyson's mouth dropped open in shock, even the Nurse couldn't believe Skylar would say such a thing. No one could be so heartless, at least that's what she really hoped. Skylar on the other hand, didn't give two ducks about their expressions. She had no plans of giving out her kidney without getting what she went there for in full.

"What the fuck is wrong with you?! How could you be so heartless?!"

"Heartless?" Skylar asked softly, her brow arched. "Trust me Tyson, this isn't me being heartless. Certificate then Kidney, it's that simple. If the nurses and Doctors could keep her alive for months, what's a few more hours? The delay is all on you Mr. Knight."

Tyson took a deep breath and sighed. "Fine. Jay, you know what to do."

Jay nodded and walked out of the hospital lobby with his phone placed on his ear.

"So, now what?" Skylar asked a little too sweetly.

"Now, we wait." Tyson replied dryly.

Jay walked back in two minutes later and nodded at Tyson. "Everything is set, all that's left is for us to get there."

"Good." Tyson nodded and without another word, took Skylar's hand in his and dragged her out of the hospital and into his car, Jay quietly following them.

Skylar didn't mind the aggressive way he held and pulled her as long as she got to hold his hands. It had been ages since that last happened.

The ride on the way to the Civil Affairs Bureau was tense, no one said a word, they were all deep in their own thoughts. Tyson was thinking about how to get rid of Skylar for good and completely off his neck, Skylar was thinking of how to get Tyson's girlfriend completely out of the picture after the surgery while Jay was depressed because of how much his work had doubled.

Finally, Jay pulled up at the Bureau and Tyson got out and dragged out Skylar with her arm; she almost tripped but luckily, she caught herself in time.

Without a word, he dragged her into the Bureau and forced her to take a sit as they waited. Minutes later, the clerk walked in and handed them a document to sign on. Jay acted as their witness and when they were done with everything they needed to do, the clerk walked away.

A few minutes later, she returned with an envelope in hand and handed it to Tyson. He thanked her as he collected the documents and together, both he and Skylar, this time not hand in hand, walked out of the Bureau.

Once they had gotten into the car, Tyson threw the envelope on her thighs.

"I hope you keep your end of the bargain."

"I always keep my word!" She snapped and began to open the envelope.

In it were three documents, an original copy of their marriage certificate, a picture of them together and a contract sealing the deal between them; marriage to Tyson in exchange for her kidney. Everything was going perfectly. All she needed to do next was get his girlfriend out of the picture. It wasn't going to be easy but she planned on fighting till the end. She was going to get rid of Lila, one way or the other.

In the photo, Tyson and Skylar were sitting side by side, so far away and yet so close. Skylar gently raised her finger and caressed the face of Tyson and then drew a heart between them. Tyson didn't notice because his mind was far away.

Tyson, we're finally married.

They returned to the hospital and the nurses and Doctors had gotten everything set for the surgery, all they needed was Skylar.

"Are you ready Miss?" The Doctor asked but Skylar didn't respond. Her eyes were still glued on the photo, lost in thought.

Tyson grabbed the marriage certificate and crumpled it into a ball. Before Skylar could react, he threw it on the ground.

"Focus! You have what you want, now focus!"

Skylar didn't say a word, she bent down to pick up the marriage certificate, smoothed it carefully, and put it in her bag.

"Do not disrespect me, Mr. Knight. This is my organ you're talking about! My organs are also a part of my body. I know better than you what will happen if I lose half of my organs. A marriage to you in exchange for my kidney is too little a payment."

Her words made Tyson speechless and unable to refute for a while. In a way, she was right but he wasn't going to back down easily. For a moment, he bit his lower lip and sneered, "Half an organ in exchanged for a chance to marry into a wealthy family, for people like you, it is not a loss at all. You should also be grateful."

Skylar arched a sardonic brow and was about to respond when the Doctor interrupted.

"Please, we do not have time for this. Are you ready or not?"

"I am." She nodded once.

With a final nod, the Doctor led her to the operating room. After she was done changing into the hospital scrub, she laid on the bed and waited patiently. The nurse injected her with anaesthetic and then left.

Since she had already undergone the necessary compatibility test, there was no need for her to undergo it anymore. Before the anesthetic began to kick in, Skylar pulled out the squeezed marriage certificate from her bag and held it firmly in her hand. It gave her strength.

Her eyes began to close as the drug began to kick in. She let out a sigh and slowly drifted off to sleep.

Hours later, the Doctor walked out of the theater.

"How was was it?" Tyson asked.

"It was successful. Congratulations."

Tyson sighed in relief. A weight was just lifted off his back.

The operation was successful, because of the financial resources of Knight's family and the professional team of doctors; Lila recovered well.

Skylar's case on the other hand, was completely different. Tyson had no feelings for her and the Nurse hired by him to look after her did the complete opposite. On the fourth day after the operation, she developed a high fever because of wound infection.

When she was burning in a daze, she saw Tyson coming towards her. His voice as gentle as a dove.

"Skylar, you have to be strong!" She was starting to hallucinate but it felt so real so she decided to hold on to it.

"Okay, Tyson." Skylar promised and reached out to grab Tyson's trouser, muttering inaudible words, tears rushing down her face. It was so unlike her.

As soon as Tyson reached her bedside, he was grabbed by the trouser. Seeing her muttering to herself, he couldn't help looking down and approaching her.

But when he heard what she said last, which was very audible, he was stunned and gently prying her hand from his trouser, he quickly stood up and quietly left the room.

He walked into Lila's ward and stared out the window as her words played over and over in his head.

She had called him TJ, only one person called him that and she was dead, died in a brutal car accident. Who was this Skylar and how did she know him as TJ and why in the world was she so bent on marrying him? What did she hope to gain? It was definitely not money since no amount he called moved her, so what did she want?

As the heir-to-be of the Knight's family, it was normal for many women to want to marry him and associate with him but Skylar was a different case entirely.

Honestly, if it wasn't for Lila, he never would have agreed to marry her, he didn't even know who she was!

He heard a soft groan and looked over his shoulder to see Lila slowly waking up. She had been in a coma for four days.

His face lit up at the sight of her and he quickly rushed to her bedside. Her eyes slowly fluttered open and she smiled at the sight of her man.

"Tyson?" She called weakly.

"I'm here, baby. Do you need anything? Water maybe?"

"I'd appreciate that, thank you."

With a slight nod, he walked out of the room and returned a minute later with a glass of water in hand, the Doctor and Lila's close friends who had come to check up on her like they always did. He was yet to let her parents know that she was awake.

Hannah and Jones rushed over to her immediately the Doctor was done checking up on her and confirming everything to be fine.

"Oh my gosh Lila!! We were so worried about you! You took too long to wake up! How are you?! How do you feel?!!"

"One question at a time, Lila giggled and Tyson's expression softened at the sound of her giggle. He never imagined he'll get to hear such a sound again. It sounded so heavenly. He honestly wouldn't have known what to do if she never made it or if they never found a donor in time. Everything worked out at the end and funny and also annoyingly enough, it was thanks to Skylar.

"So? Who was my donor?" Lila asked and suddenly the whole room became silent that you could hear a pin drop. Jones and Hannah stared at Tyson, but he just smiled and caressed Lila's face.

"It's no one important, don't worry about it. All you need to worry your pretty little head about is getting fully recovered. I have everything under control."

"No, no, I really want to know so I can thank the person in person. Donating a kidney is a lot."

Tyson sighed. "Really is no one important."

"But..." Lila started to protest but the opening of the door interrupted her.

"Oh c'mon Mr. Knight, don't deny your love the opportunity to thank her donor in person." Skylar said as she walked in with the drip, a smirk on her face. Tyson on the other hand, balled his fists.
