Desperate To Live

*Maybe my soulmate died. Idk. Or maybe I don’t have a soul* - Iamnotshane. Jayden lives by only two rules. Rule 1: Never fall in love. Rule 2: Always remember rule one. He has always followed this principle after learning that he has stage four cancer and has only a few months to live. Jayden chose not to hurt any women as long as they did not fall in love with him because he was a cold handsome playboy who carries a deadly aura, but adored by all. His gray eyes were ravishing, and he had exquisite flawless skin. He was adored by everyone until he met a girl named Freda. Freda was a twenty-nine-year-old autistic patient, and Jayden was twenty-seven years old cancer patient. On their first encounter, Jayden, who enjoys being around women, sees Freda as a red flag due to her disability and her choice of clothing. He had sworn to himself that he would never run into Freda again, but fate couldn’t be more cooperative as they continued to bump into each other. Due to an unexpected situation, Freda has no other option but to start working in Jayden’s mansion. Freda pledged that she would fix the playboy’s heart so that he would fall in love with someone because she sees no reason why he avoids being in a relationship, but little did she know that she would fall for him instead. “But what if she discovers she is in love with a cancer patient? Will she suppress her emotions or work to make Jayden’s life as happy as possible before he dies?” “Will love save the day when death calls?” This book evokes a wide range of emotions.

What a player.

Freda's gaze was fixed on the entrance door, and she became immobile as a result of what she had just witnessed.

Jayden was the person who had just entered the company building.

He was dressed in a long-sleeved black shirt and a white trouser. His feet were shod in black slippers, and his hair was neatly combed and parked upwards.

Freda despised the fact that he was now stalking her, so she charged up to him and grabbed his hands, dragging him out of the company building.

The company manager was taken aback by Freda's actions because she was not the type of person to approach a stranger she knows nothing about.

Freda and Jayden were now standing outside the company building. Freda gave Jayden a lethal look while rolling her eyes at him.

"What is that for?" Jayden inquired, his brows arched slightly. He was surprised to have run into Freda again.

First it was at the bridge, then at the hotel, and now he had run into her in a company. Jayden felt as if Freda was following him.

"Do you understand what it means to harass or persecute someone with unwanted and obsessive attention? A stalker is someone who illegally follows and watches someone for an extended period of time. Approaching or confronting someone in a public or private setting. Appearing at one's place of employment, home, or school. Entering onto someone's property that they own, lease, or occupy is an example of a stalker's personality." Freda declared her face solemnly.

Jayden's mouth hung slightly open as he pondered why he'd become entangled with this childlike lady.

Freda exhaled as she observed Jayden's expression. She realized he didn't get her previous statement, so she asked him a simple question instead.

"Why are you stalking me?" Jayden was questioned by Freda.

He bites his lower lip to stop himself from laughing at the woman's ridiculous remark. "Are you attempting to label me as a stalker?" Jayden inquired, his gray blue eyes widened with surprise.

Freda looks at her puzzle box in her hands for a moment before returning her gaze to Jayden. "I didn't call you a stalker at first, but given your peculiar personality, I'll have to do so now." She declared as she locked her gaze on Jayden's.

He breathed out. "We happened to run into each other by chance, so to avoid misunderstandings, I'd appreciate it if you could round up with what you intend to do inside the company, and then I can go inside to do my stuff." Jayden declared as he attempted to reason with Freda.

He despised the fact that he was constantly bumping into this childish lady.

Freda made a cross with her hand above her stomach. "Are you implying, in some way, that you aren't a stalker?" She inquired because Jayden had not responded to her previous enquiry.

"Um… I suppose you can say that." He declared solemnly.

'Does he really believe I'll take his word for it? Apart from that, his ex-girlfriend has clearly claimed that Jayden is a player, and because he obviously looks like one, I'm finding it difficult to believe him.' Freda reflected within herself.

"Why are you quiet, all of a sudden?" Jayden questioned Freda because he noticed that Freda had been extremely quiet following his previous statement.

As she exhaled, she bit her lower lips. "I was thinking, and I concluded that I shouldn't believe you because you're lying." She declared in a solemn tone.

He smirked, amused by the innocent childlike lady. "Why do you think I need your approval to believe me or not? I'm not a stalker, and as I previously stated, take care of whatever you want to do within the company, and when you're done, I'll do my thing." Jayden stated unequivocally.

"I'm sorry to burst your bubble, Jayden, but I'm the secretary of this company, and there's no way I'm going to walk inside with the intention of coming out." Freda stated, and what she just stated was the absolute main truth.

Jayden rolled his eyes inwardly because he doubted her words.

'Besides, who would hire an autistic person as a company secretary? She's too childish to work for a company.' Jayden pondered within himself.

Jayden had once seen a photograph of the company secretary, and it wasn't Freda.

He has a deep frown. "May I have your ID?"

Freda frowned before looking down at her hands as she played with her puzzle box. "My identification card is in my backpack. If you can just wait here, I'll go get it so you can clear your doubt." Without waiting for Jayden to respond, she dashed inside the company on her small, delicate leg.

Jayden fixed his gaze on her petite frame. He didn't think she'd come back anytime soon, and he doesn't have time to play any childish games with her.

He exhaled furiously as he decided to attend to other matters that were equally important.

He hoped that by the time he arrived at the company later that afternoon, Freda would have completed whatever business she had with the company.

…..

Freda, who had fled inside the company, made her way to her desk, grabbing her bag.

She took her ID card from her bag before heading back outside.

She had always despised the fact that most people couldn't believe she was the company secretary.

Some would argue that a person with autism was unfit for such a position, while others would be stunned if she told them about the position she holds in this company.

Her eyes sparkled with delight as she made her way towards the company entrance, and her braided hair bounced as she walked gracefully.

She was overjoyed that she would once again be able to tell someone that an autistic person, like everyone else, can live fine.

She was taken aback when she arrived at Jayden's location. He was nowhere to be found.

She wandered aimlessly around the company building, thinking he was just around the corner, but she was mistaken.

Jayden wasn't to be found.

'What does he think of me? Is he really convinced I'm lying?'

Freda was so enraged that she had to clench her fist as she walked back into the company building.

She returned to the company and resumed her regular day's work.

Lunchtime came by quickly, and she made her way to the company cafeteria.

Freda was about to serve herself from the open counter when her gaze was drawn to Jayden.

She had felt his intense gaze on her, which caused her to turn around and stare at him, and their gazes both locked.

Her eyes seemed to spark for a few seconds before returning to their normal state.

Freda frowned as she set aside the tray she was holding.

She found herself enraged once more. Jayden had been stalking her, and she despised his impolite behavior.

She bemoaned as she moved closer to him.

Freda fretted as she came to a halt in front of Jayden. "How come you're still stalking me?"

Jayden smiled, his eyes twinkling with delight. "I'm not following yo…"

He couldn't complete his statement because Mr. Edgar, the company manager, appeared unexpectedly.

He smiled at Freda and placed his right hand on Jayden's shoulder. "Freda. Meet our company's CEO. The person with whom you will be collaborating."

She became fretted. Huh? This can't be true!
