Desperate To Live

*Maybe my soulmate died. Idk. Or maybe I don’t have a soul* - Iamnotshane. Jayden lives by only two rules. Rule 1: Never fall in love. Rule 2: Always remember rule one. He has always followed this principle after learning that he has stage four cancer and has only a few months to live. Jayden chose not to hurt any women as long as they did not fall in love with him because he was a cold handsome playboy who carries a deadly aura, but adored by all. His gray eyes were ravishing, and he had exquisite flawless skin. He was adored by everyone until he met a girl named Freda. Freda was a twenty-nine-year-old autistic patient, and Jayden was twenty-seven years old cancer patient. On their first encounter, Jayden, who enjoys being around women, sees Freda as a red flag due to her disability and her choice of clothing. He had sworn to himself that he would never run into Freda again, but fate couldn’t be more cooperative as they continued to bump into each other. Due to an unexpected situation, Freda has no other option but to start working in Jayden’s mansion. Freda pledged that she would fix the playboy’s heart so that he would fall in love with someone because she sees no reason why he avoids being in a relationship, but little did she know that she would fall for him instead. “But what if she discovers she is in love with a cancer patient? Will she suppress her emotions or work to make Jayden’s life as happy as possible before he dies?” “Will love save the day when death calls?” This book evokes a wide range of emotions.

Mister pervert.

"Jayden!" Freda exclaimed.

He turned around again. "Have a nice day, lady!" He waved as he walked out of the hotel.

She quickly ran after him with her brows slightly furrowed. "I have checked almost all of the available hotels and there was no hotel that can offer you a $500 room, so why don't you lend me your money and if you drop down your number, I'll pay you when I receive my salary for this month." Freda declared as she attempted to reason with Jayden.

He chuckled darkly. "So naïve…" He muttered under his breath.

She glanced up at him with a confused expression. "Did I say something funny?" She asked him in a polite manner.

Jayden shook his head. "I find nothing funny in your statement, but you're really a strange person, which is why I don't want to talk to you any longer." He stated flatly.

While playing with the puzzle box, Freda nodded her head innocently and bit her lower lips.

Jayden continued in a flat tone. "You're also strange for asking me to give you my $500. What am I going to use to book a room if I give you that? Should I sleep on the streets?" He inquired of Freda.

She exhaled and looked up at him. "Would you be willing to sleep on the streets? I recommend sleeping on a bench which is usually found alongside the road. You can sleep in a car garage, on a bridge, or in a deserted area whe…"

"Are you serious?" He questioned interrupting her statement. Why was he even wasting his precious time talking to a child-like woman?!

Freda nodded slowly. "Should I recommend another place for you to spend the night?"

Jayden's eyes widened at her question. He really needed to leave before he started to think like this child-like woman. "It was a pleasure chatting with you, but I hope I won't bump into you ever again. Have a nice day." He mumbled and made to walk away from her. But halted when he heard her next words.

"I'm freezing…" She murmured and glanced up at him.

"What does that have to do with me, young lady?" Heck! Why was she looking at him with those puppy eyes of hers?!

"Please combine our funds so that we can book a room." She pleaded cutely before returning her gaze to her puzzle Box.

She was really in need of a warm place, she'd been drenched in the rain and hadn't changed her clothes, which was making her tremble slightly out of cold.

Jayden sighed in defeat. He glanced at the far end of the street before returning his gaze to her. "Alright, but that's if you promise never to show your face to me from tomorrow?" He asked.

Freda was taken aback at his words. "Hu-h?" Never to show her face to him tomorrow? What does he even mean by that? She thought.

He continued as he saw her slightly confused expression. "I want you to promise me that you will never cross paths with me again. I already despised the idea of spending the night with you in a room, and the worst that can happen is that we cross paths tomorrow." Jayden retorted flatly. She looked so boring and not his type of girl. He wouldn't want to wake up to see that child-like face of hers. He liked his women sexy and elegant…not some petite woman like her.

Freda nodded in agreement. "I promise not to cross paths with you starting tomorrow afternoon because we will undoubtedly see each other tomorrow morning, but after we both leave the hotel room and go our separate ways, I promise never to cross paths with you as long as it isn't coincidental." She reassured.

The nerves! She also wasn't looking forward to seeing him again. He's not her type of man anyway!

Jayden's lips tugged up in a crooked smile at her expression. "Alright…" He agreed.

After their agreement they both made their way to the hotel receptionist desk.

Jayden stretched his hand out to Freda. She glanced up at him with a questioning look. Why was he giving her his hand? She slowly raised her hand to place it on his, but he suddenly smacked away her hand and said.

"I wasn't asking for your hand but your money."

She shot him a deadly glare before taking out her money and placing it on his large hand. "Here take it." Couldn't he just say the words rather than just giving out his hand? What a jerk!

Jayden took out his own $500 and handed it to the receptionist.

"We'd like a king room with separate beds." Freda quickly said when he gave the money to the man.

The receptionist scratched his neck awkwardly at how strange the couple were behaving. He finally handed them the key with the room number on it. They took it and made to the elevator.

They eventually got to the room without killing each other on the way. When Freda stepped inside the room a warm smile graced her beautiful lips at the sight of two separate beds. At least she wouldn't have to share a bed with the annoying jerk!

Without waiting for the jerk. She processed to the bathroom to take a shower. But too bad there wasn't any clothes to change to, she'd have to wear back her drenched clothes.

Freda was someone who hesitated to use something that doesn't belong to her. Using the hotel towel was difficult for her, not to talk about using the bathrobe available in the bathroom.

As she stepped out of the bathroom, she was met with the jerk standing lazily outside the bathroom door. "What are you doing standing out here?" She demanded with a suspicious look on her face.

He shot her a side glare. "isn't it obvious that I was waiting for you to finish whatever your were doing in there that took forever." He responded.

Freda still had the suspicious look on as she said. "Only a pervert would stand in front of the door while a lady bathes." She stated rolling her eyes. He was a playboy after all, she wouldn't believe a word he said.

He chuckled. "Pervert?"

She nodded. "A pervert is someone whose sexual behaviour is not considered normal or acceptable," she informed him in case he doesn't know.

Jayden's grey eyes shone with amusement as he looked down at her. "Did you really just call me a pervert?" He questioned.

She nodded cutely like a child without saying anything more.

He resumed with his brows raised up slightly. "But I didn't do anything sexual, so why call me that?" What a small child he's dealing with!

She glanced up at him. "Hmm. Because it is the only name that comes to mind… if you'd please step out of my way I need to sleep early." When he moved out of her way, she passed him with a last glare and made to her own bed on the right.

Jayden shook his head in disbelief at how she glared at him. Was she really trying to scare him with those eyes of hers? He scoffed and walked inside the bathroom.

Just when he took off his clothes and began to shower, the light in the bathroom suddenly went off, and everything went pitched black.

"Lady!" He called out to Freda, who was the one to turned off the bedroom light unaware that it was linked to the bathroom's light. She had her earphones on listening to music, and didn't even hear his voice calling for her. She closed her eyes preparing to sleep.

"Lady! Are you going to turn the lights back on right this instance!" He snapped angrily.

With no other choice he rushed out of the bathroom to turn the lights back on, but found the room also pitch dark. He began looking for the lights switch on the wall, to his bad luck he tripped on the thick rugs and fell straight on top of the lady listening to her music peacefully.

Freda's eyes immediately shot opened as she felt something fell on her. She quickly remove her earphone and stretched her hand out to reach for the lights switch, which was beside her.

As the lights came back open. Her eyes widened at the sight in front of her, she stared unblinkingly at the man on top of her. Her breath caught short in her lungs as his face was inches away from hers. What was he doing…so close to her?!

Jayden gazed straight into her golden brown eyes. Her eyes were so mesmerizing, he really wanted to scold her for turning off the lights, but he couldn't even look away from those innocent eyes of hers.

Freda had red ginger hair, it was parted into two and braided backwards. Her pouted pink lips trembled slightly as if she wanted to say something but couldn't. Her little action made Jayden's eyes fell on her lips.

She felt something poked her right thigh. "Mis… Mister pervert. Something inbetween your legs is poking my thigh." She stuttered.

Jayden quickly snapped back to reality at her words. Before shifting his gaze to the lower part of his body and he suddenly realized he was…naked!
