Chapter 45 Being Too Picky

Penny squatted down and hugged Nina, blaming herself. "I apologize. Mom didn't intend it, but... only by doing this would dad be able to finish his work sooner and come to see you."

Nina rubbed her arms, choked up, and sobbed, "I don't blame mom."

"All right, then, let's go home and wait for dad." Penny returned to the villa, holding her hand.

It was already midnight, and Ivan still hadn't come.

Nina was too sleepy to keep her eyes open. She had no strength to cry or fuss and quickly fell asleep.

[Just finished work. Is Nina okay?]

Seeing this message, Penny's mouth slightly curved upward, and she quickly replied.

[She hasn't fallen asleep yet, and insists on waiting for you, but it's too late, so don't come over. I'll comfort her.]

She gazed at her phone, and Ivan responded within seconds.

[I'll be there in half an hour.]
