Descent of The Supreme Being

Before time began, there existed a higher-dimensional entity—the Supreme Being—who created everything in existence, from gods to galaxies. He tasked the gods with shaping the universe, giving rise to planets, stars, and the mortal world of Terra. For eons, the Supreme Being watched over his creation from his divine throne, observing the rise and fall of civilizations and the complex lives of mortals. However, as ages passed, the Supreme Being grew weary of his role as a mere observer. Bored by the predictable patterns of existence, he made a daring decision—to abandon his divine throne and descend into Terra as a mortal. Taking on a human form, he sought to experience life firsthand, to understand the joys, sorrows, and challenges that mortals face. As he journeys through Terra, the Supreme Being, now known as Arthur, discovers the beauty and pain of mortal existence. But his presence in the mortal realm begins to disrupt the natural order, drawing the attention of the gods. Faced with a choice between returning to his divine realm or embracing his newfound humanity, Arthur's decision will determine the fate of both Terra and himself. Chapter 25: A Fiery Connection

The next day

It was nearing dusk when Arthur found himself sparring with Seraphine in one of the academy's isolated training grounds. The sky overhead was a soft gradient of pink and orange, and the sound of their weapons clashing echoed through the cool evening air. Seraphine, with her fiery red hair tied back, moved with her usual grace and ferocity, her spear spinning in tight arcs as she pressed Arthur to keep up.

"You've been holding back," Seraphine said, her voice steady despite the exertion.

Arthur parried her attack, smirking. "And here I thought I was being subtle."

Seraphine's eyes narrowed playfully, and she pushed harder, launching a series of rapid strikes that Arthur deflected with ease. The two of them had been at this for nearly an hour, and yet neither seemed tired. For Seraphine, sparring was a way to push herself—to test her limits and improve. For Arthur, it was a welcome distraction from the questions that still lingered after the dungeon break.

As they fought, Arthur couldn't help but notice the intensity in Seraphine's gaze. There was always fire in her eyes when she trained, a determination that set her apart from the others. She never gave less than her best, and it was that same determination that had drawn Arthur to her in the first place.

"Is this all you've got, Arthur?" Seraphine taunted, a smirk playing on her lips as she swung her spear again.

Arthur dodged, stepping back with a chuckle. "You really want me to go all out?"

Seraphine spun the spear in her hands and grinned. "You're damn right I do."

With a flick of his wrist, Arthur summoned a burst of energy, channeling it into his sword. The blade crackled with power as he moved toward her, closing the distance in a flash. Seraphine's eyes widened, but she didn't back down—she met him head-on, her spear glowing with a bright, fiery light as she parried his strike.

The ground beneath them shook with the force of their clash, but Seraphine held her ground. Arthur pressed harder, testing her, but she only grinned, pushing back with equal strength. Her fiery aura flared as she twirled her spear, the air around her growing hot with each strike.

For a moment, they were evenly matched, neither giving an inch. Arthur could feel the adrenaline pumping through his veins, and he could tell that Seraphine was feeling the same. But as they continued to spar, something shifted in the air between them—something unspoken.

Seraphine lunged forward, her spear aimed at his chest, but Arthur sidestepped at the last second, catching her off balance. He reached out instinctively, his hand catching her wrist and pulling her close before she could fall. For a brief moment, they were chest-to-chest, their breathing heavy from the exertion. The fiery determination in Seraphine's eyes softened, just slightly, as she looked up at him.

"Not bad," Arthur said, his voice low as he held her gaze.

Seraphine smirked, though her heart was pounding in her chest. "You got lucky."

They stayed like that for a moment longer than necessary, and Arthur could feel the tension between them—the charged energy that had nothing to do with their sparring. He hadn't expected it, but now that they were this close, he realized how much he enjoyed Seraphine's presence. She was fierce, unyielding, and in her own way, incredibly captivating.

Seraphine pulled back, her cheeks flushed from more than just the workout. She cleared her throat, twirling her spear casually as if nothing had happened. "You're improving," she remarked, though her voice was slightly unsteady.

Arthur chuckled, sheathing his sword. "I have a good teacher."

Seraphine rolled her eyes, though a small smile tugged at her lips. "Don't get cocky."

The sun had nearly set, casting long shadows across the training ground, but neither of them seemed eager to leave. Seraphine stood still for a moment, watching the horizon, her expression uncharacteristically thoughtful. Arthur, sensing that something was on her mind, stepped closer, curious.

"What's up?" he asked.

Seraphine hesitated for a beat, then let out a small sigh. "I've been thinking… about what happened in the dungeon."

Arthur nodded, his expression growing serious. The dungeon break was still fresh in everyone's minds, and he knew that Seraphine, like the others, had been affected by it. But where Leora and Elara had been more open with their concerns, Seraphine had kept hers hidden behind her usual bravado.

"I saw how calm you were back there," Seraphine continued, her voice quieter than usual. "How you took charge when everything was falling apart. I guess I realized… I need to be stronger."

Arthur frowned. "Seraphine, you're one of the strongest people I know."

Seraphine shook her head. "It's not enough. I've always prided myself on being able to handle anything that comes my way. But back in that dungeon… I felt powerless. Watching you fight, seeing how you kept your cool—it made me realize how far I still have to go."

Arthur could see the frustration in her eyes, the same frustration he had sensed during their sparring. Seraphine wasn't used to feeling vulnerable, and he knew how hard it was for her to admit it. But he also knew that she wasn't giving herself enough credit.

"You're already strong, Seraphine," Arthur said gently, stepping closer. "And you're only going to get stronger. But you don't have to do it alone. We're a team, remember?"

Seraphine looked up at him, her fiery red hair catching the last of the sunlight. For a moment, the mask she always wore slipped, and Arthur saw the vulnerability she kept hidden beneath her fierce exterior. It made her all the more beautiful in his eyes.

"Yeah," Seraphine murmured, a small, genuine smile crossing her lips. "We are."

The tension between them shifted again, and Arthur found himself drawn to her in a way he hadn't expected. He had always admired Seraphine's strength, her confidence, but now he saw a different side of her—a side that made him want to protect her, even though he knew she didn't need it.

He smiled softly. "Besides, I don't mind keeping you on your toes."

Seraphine chuckled, the fire in her eyes returning. "I'll hold you to that."

As the last of the daylight faded and the training grounds were bathed in shadow, Arthur realized just how much he appreciated Seraphine—not just for her strength, but for the person she was beneath it all. And though neither of them said it, there was something growing between them—a connection that had started in battle but was becoming something more.

To be continued...
