Chapter 66 - The Devil Within (Bonus Chapter)

In the modern world.

Five years after the death of Alex.

In a subway station, a middle-aged man was reading a novel on his android phone.

'Jiang Chen was a normal university student. One day due to a tragic accident that involved truck-kun (A/N: And truck-kun strikes again.), he was sent to another world.

There he awoke in the body of a boy who had the same name as him, after inheriting the memories of the boy he learned that his fiancé had canceled his engagement with him as he was trash who couldn't cultivate. And as such the poor boy committed suicide. (A/N: Shocker.)

Jiang Chen vowed to get revenge for the poor predecessor and get justice for him while looking at the sunset, his heart ablaze with righteous feelings. He realized then that he had awakened a system – the righteous system. (A/N: Heh. Now isn't that a twist? Who could have seen that coming?)

After Jiang Chen trained hard he finally surpassed his ex-fiancé's new lover and beat him up at the clan competition. When he stood on the stage and accepted all the congratulations and praises from the clan, he could see the regret in his ex-fiancé's eyes, but it was too late now and their paths had diverged as such he could only wish her good luck and pray that she had a bright future ahead. Under the regretful gaze of his ex-fiancé, Jiang Chen turns around and walks off the stage like a lonely hero…

Now done with the clan competition, Jiang Chen enrolls in the Imperial School where he befriends a fatty. They become sworn brothers who promise to go through life and death for the other. They set off on a journey and meet different people and go on many adventures thus helping many people. During this journey, fatty realizes that he is not as gifted as his sworn brother in cultivation as such he decides to go back after this journey, marry and settle down.

When Jiang Chen hears this from his sworn brother he feels dejected but he does not stop him. Jiang Chen bids goodbye to his sworn brother and leaves. Looking at the receding back of Jiang Chen the fatty is filled with an indescribable feeling and realizes. 'This man is destined for greatness. One day the whole world will know his name.'

Jiang Chen who is now alone understands that the path of cultivation is lonely and hard. But he does not stop, as he is a transmigrator and one with a golden finger. Thus Jiang Chen decided to enter secluded cultivation to improve himself.

Many years passed by…

Jiang Chen's secluded training finally paid off, he reached the immortal level. Together with his efforts and the systems help he has reached the immortal level and has become the youngest immortal yet.

He meets new people, some of the girls that he met became his lover or wife, as he saved some from the grasp of evil men who tried to force them to become their wife's and while some of the girls were tricked into consuming aphrodisiacs, in such situations Jiang Chen could only sacrifice his body to save those damsels in distress. Of course, they would try to kill him first instead of thanking him first but later they would be moved by his pure emotions and accept to become his lover/wife.

Like that Jiang Chen went on many adventures during his time on the run with his lover/wives, during these adventures he found many treasures which further boosted his cultivation level, making him powerful enough to face the forces of the world.

After a world-shaking battle with the dominating forces of the world, Jiang Chen finally won. But he could not rest yet, for he has yet to face the main boss and the hidden boss….

In his final battle with these bosses, unfortunately, Jiang Chen lost one of his beloved women, who sacrificed herself to help Jiang Chen defeat the boss. But even with this, he was not powerful enough. Finally, it was his trusted system, his nakamas, and the power of their love and friendship that came to his rescue and helped him defeat the last hidden boss. (A/N: Blergh!!!! *throws up*)

Then Jiang Chen lived happily ever after with his wives and friends while never forgetting the sacrifice that one of his beloved wives made.

'System huh?' A cold glint flashed across the man's eyes as he smirks.

Finished reading the novel the man exits the app which he used and sighs.

'So this is what a good novel looks like?' The man thought.

"Hey, buddy did you read the latest chapter of the novel 'I am strongest with my system and 10,000 wives in the alternate cultivation world!' that came out last night?"

"Yeah, I totally read it. It was awesome, the MC got himself 100 more wives!"

The man heard few teenage students talking and glanced over, he just happened to see a few girls look at those boys with disgust.

"Hey did you read the latest chapters of 'The cold-faced CEO pamper's his hidden wife endlessly'?"

"I did. Can you believe how low the MC's step-sister is? She totally drugged the MC for the 10th time again. Due to which the MC started to get all touchy-feely with her 12th ex-boyfriend and that was seen by Big Bun again."

"*sigh* Yes, this is going to cause misunderstanding between them again. Poor MC, her relationship with Big Bun was finally improving."

When the man heard the same girls talk, his lips twitched.

He shook his head and turned to the secretary standing next to him and asked. "What's the status of the task which I gave you?"

"Sir, everything is going according to plan. We will be able to take over the company completely within the next few days at most."

"What about the Young Madam? Did she suspect anything?" The man asked while checking his watch.

Soon their wait was over and the train arrived on the platform. After getting on the train they found a seat for themselves.

"No sir. The Young Madam is completely clueless." The secretary said after making sure that no one was paying attention to them.

"Good. What about the person whom I asked you to find?" The middle-aged man asked while loosening his tie.

"Yes, sir. The person is an online fictional novelist, out of all his works until now, one called Reverend Insanity has become the most popular but due to something that he wrote in this novel the government forced him to stop writing and placed a ban on it. Currently, he is working on another book. As for his personal life, he is married and has a kid." The secretary replied and passed a paper to the man which contained the data of the novelist.

'Gu Zhen Ren?' The middle-aged man raised his right eyebrow when he read the name of the author.

"Keep digging and report everything that you find to me." The middle-aged man said as he got up.

"Yes, sir."

As his stop had arrived the middle-aged man got off the train leaving the secretary alone. After ensuring that his boss had gotten off the secretary wiped the sweat off his brows.

His boss was a mystery, 5 years ago the man came out of nowhere and climbed the company's corporate ladder from an ordinary employee to his current position of CEO. Not only that but within 6 months of becoming the CEO he had managed to double the company's profits. All the shareholders were extremely happy with his performance.

But unknown to them the same CEO was plotting of snatching away their shares to become the largest stakeholder of the company, not like there was anything wrong with that, after all, it was all due to his hard work that the company had reached its current heights. What bothered the secretary were the methods he used to get those shares. Kidnapping, blackmail, seduction, etc. He used anything and everything he could. AND he managed to get what he wanted, most likely in the next few days, he would successfully become the single largest shareholder of the company.

But for some reason which he couldn't figure out his boss always scared him. It was not like his boss was a man with a big build or anything nor was he some kind of psychopath. He wasn't scared of the methods he used to get the shares either. The secretary was confused, he just couldn't understand why he was so afraid of his boss. He just couldn't figure out what it was that spooked him so much.

Soon the secretary's stop was nearing and he got ready to get off the train.

'Maybe it's because of Boss's eyes?' At that moment the secretary suddenly recalled his Boss's eyes and he recalled a phrase describing the protagonist's eyes from the beginning chapters of the novel Reverend Insanity that he had read.

As he was investigating the author of the book the secretary read the first 11 chapters to pass the time while waiting for the report from his subordinates. 'Those eyes, no matter the situation do not contain any emotion at all, dark and profound, resembling a deep ancient pool as if it was hiding a terrifying beast.'

'Pui. Pui. Idiot, what are you thinking? What resembling a deep ancient pool? What hiding a terrifying beast?' The secretary berated himself as he got off the train. 'I am reading too many novels these days.'

'It's been 5 years since I came back to this world.' The middle-aged man thought as he stood at the platform, waiting for the next train to arrive.

Although he is the CEO of a company he prefers using the subway from time to time, especially for his secret meetings.

'Up until now, I am not sure how I got back to this world. Although I have some idea I am not sure about it 100%. But it doesn't matter as I already have an idea on how to return to the Gu world.'

Since it was the time at which people got off work and kids got off school the station soon got crowded. Just then a twenty-year-old woman sitting next to him started playing a song on her phone.

"That's a good song. Can you please tell me its name?" The middle-aged man turned and asked the woman stitting next to him.

The woman who had her eyes closed and was listening to the song furrowed her brows and opened her eyes to see who it was that interrupted her relaxing time. But as soon as she saw the face of the devilishly handsome man her brows relaxed and her cheeks turned slightly red.

"It's called – The devil within by Digital Daggers." The woman replied in a soft voice.

"Thank you." Saying that the man took out his phone to search for it.

'I'll be here

Seeing that the man had no intention of continuing the conversation with her, the woman picked up her courage and started introducing herself.

"Uhm... Hi, I am Meng Yao. I am currently working as the head secretary in Yao Telecommunications Ltd."

"Hmm? So young and already the head secretary? Such a talented young lady. It's nice to meet you, Meng Yao."

Seeing that the middle-aged man had replied to her and also praised her, the young woman got happy.

Just then the train arrived at the platform.

"My train has arrived. It was nice talking to you, Miss Meng Yao." Saying so the middle-aged man got up to leave.

"Your name… Could you please tell me your name?" Seeing that the man did not even tell her his name Meng Yao got flustered and asked.

The man smirked and handed her his card.

"Ah! You are…" When she looked at the logo printed on the card, Meng Yao's eyes widened.

"Shh!" The man immediately placed a finger on her soft lips to silence her.

"Miss Meng Yao, I am looking to hire a capable personal secretary. So if you know anyone please get them to contact me through the number printed on my card." Saying so the man turned around and boarded the train and the train soon left.

After boarding the train the man took out his phone and sent a text to his secretary – 'Made contact with the granddaughter of Yao Telecommunications. Make the necessary arrangements.'

'I need more time to make the necessary arrangements to return to the Gu world. But worry not I will be back. Wait for me Heaven's Will.' The man thought as closed his eyes.

'The Devil Within huh? A really nice song. It fits me perfectly.' The man thought as he listened to the song through his headphones

At the station.

Meng Yao's cheeks turned red, she understood that the man was asking her to contact him. And naturally, she definitely will.

After all not only was the man good-looking, but he was also the most talented CEO currently in the business world.

She lowered her head and saw the name printed on the card –

CEO of Tong Communications – Fang Yuan.
