Denigration of the Devil

(He loosened my one hand and slowly rested it above his heart. Suddenly, it reminded me of our first kiss. That day, he did this same thing, but probably he didn't remember since he was drank. "Feel that. It only beats for you. Feel it, Noona. This thing was protected with heavy shells. It was impossible to break it free, but you did it. You broke the shells one by one and slowly made your way into this. Only you live inside my heart. Only for you, this cold heart beats." His eyes held thousands of emotions in them. I was overwhelmed looking into his eyes, feeling that hectic rhythm of his heart under my palm. He smiled at me, "I love you. I love only you. Always have, always will." I blinked to hush away the tears that were blinding me from seeing his face. I released a shaky breath, "I love you too.") Chapter 29: Big Baby

Fahami's POV:

I frowned. ' What is going on?'

I gradually freed my wrist from his hold and mildly shook his shoulder, "Taesung, wake up. You have to eat something. Wake up!"

He groaned in response. I tried to understand his temperature with my hand. It felt lower than the last time. The sponge bath worked.

I again shook his shoulder, "Taesung. Wake up, please!"

This time he slowly opened his eyes and looked at me, still frowning.

"Noona?" There was a desperation underlying.

"Yes?" I whispered.

"You are here. Are you really here?" He was asking in disbelief.

"Yes. Where else I would be?" I was a bit surprised when he asked me this. Then again I thought about letting this go for now. He was sick so probably didn't know what he was talking about.

"Taesung, sit up. You have to eat something."

He closed his eyes and wrinkled his nose in disgust. "I don't want to eat anything."

"Don't behave like a child. You have to eat something." Although I was suggesting him to eat something, I also acted like this whenever I had a fever. But someone had to be mature. If I wouldn't insist, this boy would skip eating when it was important to get well as soon as possible.

I wrapped my wrists around his arms, held him tightly and helped him to get up.

He coughed roughly. I again checked his temperature. "How did you get fever?"

He looked a bit embarrassed as he quickly ducked his head to avoid eye contact. "I took a long cold shower this morning. Didn't know, I would get fever." He coughed again. I knew how bad it felt to cough continuously.

He looked pale. Damn! He was definitely suffering.

"I made garlic soup for you. It will hush the sickness in few hours." I tried to sound cheery but it didn't work because he wrinkled his nose in disgust.

He gave me puppy look and shook his head. Damn it! Didn't he know it was hard for me to deny his request when he acted like this? Of course, he knew how it worked on me. Huhh! It was not going to stop me now. "Look boy, don't think that puppy look will work on me. You are going to eat this soup and that's final."

He whined, "Have some mercy. I don't want to eat anything."

I glared at him, "Why did you get fever then?"

He looked at me accusingly, "You are the one to blame." And I almost blushed as he confessed.

"What did you say?" I barked to shut him up. "Did I ask you to take cold shower? You did that to yourself." He was going to say something but I raised my hand up and stopped him, "Now when you have gotten the fever, there is no logic to argue. You have to get well, soon and for that you need to eat something healthy and take medicine. Understood?"

He gave me a blank look, "Fine." He rolled his eyes.

I couldn't stop myself from smiling, "Good Boy." I even patted his head but stopped patting when he glared at me, trying to invade bullets in my skull with his eyes.

I cleared my throat and brought the bowl of soup, took a full spoon in front of his mouth. He hesitated but took it and as soon as he gulped he made a disgusted face. I chuckled and made him eat the remaining.

This scene reminded me of the last time I fed him. He was badly beaten.

' Time flies soon!'

It's quite amazing that how we became close to each other when Taesung couldn't even tolerate me. He looked at me like I was his enemy, and he was going to eat me alive. That day was something that I didn't want to remember because whenever I imagined his beaten up face, I felt like someone was clenching my heart. Although it would be a lie if I said I didn't want to remember, after all that night brought us together.

"Noona. Not anymore, please. Have mercy!" He was pleading. I felt bad for acting like an evil queen. So, I granted him some mercy and stopped feeding him.

I chuckled, "Fine. How are you feeling now?"

He gave me that same accusing look, "Don't you know? Disgusted. I feel like someone is clenching my stomach."

I giggled, "Stop, you big baby. You will survive." I touched his forehead and cheek to understand his temperature. It didn't improve that much, but he was sweating. That was a good sign.

"Do you feel cold?"

"No. I am fine now." He sounded bored.

"Okay. Wait, I will bring you medicine."

"What? When will your torture finish?" He whined.

I winked at him, "That's a secret."

Finally, I could bring back his smile. Taesung had a unique smile. His lips normally looked like heart shaped but when he smiled, his mouth looked like a box. I secretly called it, 'Boxy smile.' and I loved it. I loved to see him smile. It kind of worked on me like energy drinks though I doubted if energy drinks truly worked.

He didn't fight with me anymore and took the medicine like a good boy. I thought to treat him hot chocolate though I didn't know if he liked it or not. Adults liked it, right?

"Noona, you were crying." He looked up at me.

I sighed. "Yes." I paused for a moment then said, "There is something I would like to know if you would tell me." I tried to sound gentle.

He gulped as his eyes showed their vulnerability. He knew what I was going to ask him. I guessed he remembered, I had seen his back. I had to know what happened to him. How it happened? This boy meant a lot to me, and I was not going to spare any damn person who dared to hurt him.

He sighed, "Not now, not tonight. Please!" He pleaded with his eyes.

I exhaled deeply. He was sick and I had to give him some time to recover.

I simply held his hand and squeezed it to assure him." Okay."

He smiled a bit. It wasn't an actual smile.

I gently put him back to the bed and pulled the duvet to cover him.

I was just going to leave when he held my wrist. I looked back at him. He looked so sad and vulnerable, "Will you stay with me tonight? Please?"
