Platinum Class Spirits

The book contained a total of 112 recipes, each of which was discussed in great depth, as were the various spirits described throughout the text. This wasn't only a spirit refinement recipe book, it was also a comprehensive guide on stepping onto the path of consciousness training!

Remi's great grandfather claimed that reading these types of recipes would help Deon to quickly understand the intuitive language.

Deon also chose to start with this book because he was seriously interested in any form of mental training. Even the bed bug spirit impressed him, so he was excited to see how these true consciousness tempering type spirits would improve his mental faculties.

He had read all the way through this book a single time, but refinement recipes were complex and the intuitive language was unique, many of the details were still lost on him.

He was tempted to begin studying the first recipe, but Deon knew that this was not sensible. In theory, reading the intuitive language was not the best way to learn the language, the best way to learn was to try writing the language by infusing intent into his words whilst writing.

So, Deon pulled out a quill and a pad of parchment, then closed his eyes.

'My intent…hmm…' He began to write with his eyes closed. After some time, he opened his eyes, then stared dumbly at what he had just produced.

"Did the old man get it wrong?" Deon honestly wondered as he stared down at his own writing.

He managed to successfully write out his intent, creating a bunch of elegant yet overbearing characters from top to bottom. A sharp, almost manic killing intent could be felt within each of these characters, this felt very similar to the killing intent in Deon's own aura.

When he read through the characters lined up in a single row, the translation appeared in his mind, detailing exactly what he had been thinking of as he wrote.

All it said was, 'this is my intent'.

But still, wasn't this success way too fast?

Feeling dubious, Deon glanced back at the recipe book and froze.

"Huh…"

Within 30 seconds, the first recipe became partially revealed before his eyes. Unexpectedly, after writing a single line in the intuitive language, his ability to translate intuitive texts had already improved so drastically!

After examining this recipe for a few more minutes, Deon exhaled breathlessly.

He had become completely distracted from this obscure language now, he was far more focussed on the spirit itself!

"This is just the first spirit, an ordinary class 1-Star spirit called 'brain worm spirit', but it is actually so shocking already!"

Perhaps many people would shudder at the thought of using a worm spirit that tunnelled its way into your central cortex, but Deon was unfazed by this. When the effect was so good, who cared about some worm in your brain? Well, most people probably would, but Deon was not most people.

"I see, so the brain worm is unable to leave the brain once it digs itself in. It racks the mind with exhaustion whenever it isn't being activated, and although activating the worm doesn't drain all that much origin energy, it wriggles around within your brain and feels disgusting. Because of this, some people end up refusing to activate the spirit, causing them to die from having their mental energy drained away by the brain worm."

After reading this description, Deon paused, then laughed.

"Only a failure of a person would do something so pathetic, letting themselves die like that! So long as you're able to endure and keep the worm activated for three days and three nights without pause, the brain worm will fully dissolve and its efficacy will be devoured into your own mind!"

Deon was amazed, this was such an incredible spirit! It actually directly improved a shaman's intelligence in just three days! Three days of suffering for a permanent boost to his cognitive abilities? Worth it, this was 100% worth it!

Even though this basic worm would only increase a person's IQ by at most 3 points, Deon wasn't the least bit discouraged, because like the body tempering spirits, this worm had class evolutions from ordinary class through to mythril class!

Unlike the body tempering spirits however, the brain worm actually needed to be used in order, starting from 1-Star ordinary class. Attempting to use a higher ranked worm before using all class versions at the lower rank would result in death.

Already thrilled by his discovery of this spirit recipe, Deon wondered whether the remaining spirits also had this incremental upgrade system!

He was soon disappointed as he continued to read through the recipes, most of the consciousness tempering spirits did not have so many class evolutions like the brain worm spirit.

Deon stopped between each recipe to practise his writing of the intuitive language. For some reason, whenever he wrote on a piece of parchment, he ended up drawing exactly five large and complex runes. Strangely, the meaning behind these five combined runes could be anything from a single word to an essay of content.

It wasn't long until Deon finished this book.

"Unbelievable…how are these spirits not more popular? Many of the consciousness tempering spirits are so easy to refine, or at least, the ingredients are all readily available things!"

He didn't yet realise that most shamans disregarded the consciousness tempering type spirits, thinking that the effect was far too abstract to be of substantial use to their battle strength. Those people were short sighted, Deon had already experienced the immense usefulness of the bed bug spirit!

And so, after his first week of solitary training, Deon had already learned an entire language, began using the bronze organs spirit, finished using the gold tendons, bones and muscles spirits, and read a full book, learning another 112 spirit refinement recipes!

The second week…

Deon finally decided to refine the suffering for time spirit into its gold class evolution.

The silver class suffering for time spirit could only be used properly with the ordinary class, bronze class and silver class body tempering spirits. The effect on gold class body tempering spirits was around one third of its usual improvement, whilst the level of pain remained the same. As for the platinum class versions, the silver class suffering for time spirit could not affect them.

Deon needed to refine the gold class suffering for time spirit if he wanted to accelerate his usage of the platinum class body tempering spirits. He did not yet possess those spirits, but he was preparing for the future.

Refining the gold class suffering for time spirit would also allow him to continue practise his refinement of the body tempering spirits up to the gold class, before moving up to the platinum class versions. He had never refined a platinum class spirit before, but knew that the difficulty should be many times greater compared to the gold class.

Deon's refining expertise when it came to the body tempering spirits increased substantially.

Each refinement attempt of the gold class suffering for time spirit required the silver class suffering for time spirit, along with each of the five gold class body tempering spirits, five copies the silver class versions, 25 copies of the bronze class versions, and a ridiculous 125 copies of the ordinary class versions!

And painfully, it took him nine attempts to succeed in this refinement. This was stupidly expensive, but eventually, he did achieve success. Was it worth it? In all honesty, not really…but it was excellent practise before attempting the even more expensive platinum class spirit refinements.

As he failed so many times and needed to continue refining spirits time and time again, Deon was sending messengers to and from the kingdom multiple times each day with his latest trade offers, which included things he wanted to sell and lists of everything he wanted to buy. He continued doing this even as he began his first attempt at refining the platinum class body tempering spirits.

Two weeks later, Deon had successfully refined four platinum class body tempering spirits; platinum muscle spirit, platinum skin spirit, platinum tendons spirit, platinum organs spirit!

"I actually failed around ten times when trying to refine each spirit…platinum class spirits really are on a whole different level, this difficulty should be similar to the refinement of an ordinary class 2-Star spirit!"

Deon finally realised that he was only an experienced spirit refiner when it came to refining lower class 1-Star spirits, but what did that even count as? This realisation caused him to begin working twice as hard, taking half as many breaks. He became more bold with the spirits he was willing to reveal and sell, since even now, nobody from the kingdom had said a word to him about it, they just continued to buy his products and supply him with what he needed.

The one man production line called Deon continued to mass refine spirits.
