Chapter 5 Legion of the Dead

In the 'Rise of the Worlds,' many players were already at max level. Yet the strength of a normal max level player and a top player is not the same.

It was because of their equipments and items. Even if the two players are at the same level, the level and grades of their equipments and items could make a huge difference in their strength.

A well equipped player could fight multiple same level players with lower grade equipments at the same time. In the past, Adrosiean alone could defeat some small to mid size guilds by himself.

The guild that challenged Adrosiean just before he got summoned to this world was considered a mid size guild. Adrosiean had wiped out that guild by himself.

In Rise of the Worlds, equipments and items have it's own rarity grades known as common, rare, special, epic, legendary and mythical.

As the rarity grade of the equipments and items higher, the buff and boost the player got from them also increase. Higher grade equipment gave the player better status.

Most ranked players at least had three to four legendary grade equipments while some high ranked players had whole sets of legendary equipments.

For the top ten players and guilds, each of them had hundreds of legendary grade items. Adrosiean alone had more than three hundred legendary grade items. As a rank one player, Adrosiean does not lack any legendary grade items.

Legendary grades items are hard to get but it was not impossible. After grinding for a long time or raiding high level bosses could grant the players legendary items.

A player can equip a maximum of eight items to his character at the same time. They are helmet, armor, back weapon, bracelets, necklace, main weapon, side weapon and boots. The player would receive the status and buff from those items altogether.

In the game, Adrosiean had equipped himself with six top tier legendary grade items and two mythical grade items.

The dark scales on Adrosiean's body is actually a legendary grade armor called the 'Primordial Black Dragon Scale Armor.' His wings are also a legendary equipment, known as the 'Primordial Black Dragon Wings.'

Both of them were crafted from the drops of the primordial black dragon that Adrosiean had slain together with the help of his guild in a certain event.

Primordial dragons are the oldest and the most powerful of dragons in Rise of the Worlds. They drop crafting materials for some legendary grade items when killed.

Among the many dragon species in the game, the black dragons were considered one of the most powerful dragon species.

Even someone like Adrosiean haven't defeat the primordial black dragon alone. In the past, he killed them with the help of his guild but he never fought them alone before.

Even if Adrosiean somehow managed to kill one by himself, his losses would be huge. Not to mention he was not sure he could kill one or not since he had never fought a primordial dragon alone before.

The next item was the golden bracelet on Adrosiean's wrist. It is a legendary grade item called 'Celestial Bracelets' which gave the wearer a high mental resistance.

A demon wearing a holy artifact might sounds strange but as long as the effects arr good, Adrosiean does not care. Furthermore, the appearance is not too bad and Adrosiean did not even concealed it's appearance.

Another legendary grade item of Adrosiean is his dagger. It is called 'Blood Dagger' and it has a regeneration and lifesteal effect.

Although the item look like a dagger, it's category is among the magical weapons like magic staff and magic tomes. The shape of the dagger is only for the appearance. It is not meant for stabbing.

The next item is 'Runic Boots of Teleportation.' It has a powerful teleportation spell. But because it looks uncool while wearing it, Adroseian had concealed it's appearance in his settings.

The last legendary grade item is the called 'Ledger of Collection'. It can store permanent summoned creatures inside it's pages for later uses. The reason Adrosiean use this item was because of one of his mythical grade items.

That mythical item of Adrosiean is none other than the crown of Aryumaya. A mythical item of the summoning category.

It has the ability to summon all types of undeads of low tier, mid tier and even highest tier undeads including undead soldiers, undead warriors, death knights, liches, the undead dragons and even for death lord.

Of cause there are limits. The crown of Aryumaya could only summon one death lord at a time. But it was already a lot.

After all death lords are the highest tier undeads and extremely powerful that even top players cannot fight against them one on one expect players with mythical item.

For the lower tier undeads, the numbers are not low. As long as corpses are available, summoning a large number of undeads is not a problem at all.

The undeads might be less powerful than most monsters and golems but they can make up for their individual weakness with their sheer numbers.

Adrosiean had never bothered to construct too many unit production buildings because of this mythical item.

The crown of Aryumaya is much smaller compared to the large unit production buildings and easy to use. Furthermore, it is portable and Adrosiean did not have to worry about getting destroyed while he was away.

There were only seven known mythical items in the whole game, representing each category in the game. All the players who has mythical items in their possession were at the top ten in the whole server.

Among them, Adrosiean is the only one who had two mythical grade items by himself. The other five players who possessed mythical grade items only had one each.

This was the main reason that Adrosiean could maintain his rank one status in the game for such a long time. The difference in power between the legendary grade and mythical grade is like heaven and earth.

There are more than one same legendary grade items but only one mythical grade item exists in the whole game.

Thus, no one can take away his throne of the rank one. In the past, many players had complained that the mythical grade items are extremely overpowered and broken. Each item is basically like having a cheat system.

The even mythical items represent seven category. Not only that, all of them are very versatile with many functions. There is not a single bad mythical item among the seven.

There were arguments of which mythical items is the best but they were just players' debates. Each of the seven mythical items have it's own advantages. It depends on the user's skills.

Owning a mythical grade item also gave the player a title. Titles are extremely rare and each one of them gives corresponding buffs and status to the player.

Adrosiean's title which is the 'Demon Lord of Darkness and Death' isn't just random words. It was his real title he got when he acquired his two mythical grade items.

There were also titles like primordial dragon slayer that got after slaying three primordial dragons or champion that got after winning a thousand 1 vs 1 duals. The harder titles gave the better status to the player.

Titles from mythical items gave players quite a lot of status compared to others.

Adrosiean lifted the crown of Aryumaya. He cleared his throat and chanted.

"Arise lost souls of the dead, heed my call. Rise up from the depths of darkness and step into this world once more. Come forth and serve your true master!"

As Adrosiean chanted, the crown of Aryumaya radiated with eerie red light. Adrosiean felt something left his body and moved into the crown of Aryumaya.

Adrosiean clearly knew it was his mana. To activate skills or items, everything need mana. The eerie light from the crown spread across the dead land and covered the whole cemetery. It was a sight to behold.

After a few seconds, the entirety of the dead land started to tremble violently.

"The ground is shaking?"

"Is there an earthquake?"

"Should we run?"

"Is this the lord's doing?"

The shocked and panic sounds that came from the demon worshipping cultists could be heard.

"Silent you fools! Do not disturb the lord!"

The cult leader berated at them angrily and shut them up. He then looked over at Adrosiean's back with excitement and in his fanatical eyes.

At this moment, a pale hand popped up from the ground, followed by it's rotten body. More and more dead bodies and skeletons rose from the ground one after another.

"This is... the legion of the dead. They keep rising from the ground!"

"Too many. It's too many of them. How many are there? A hundred? A thousand? They seem endless!"

"There might be at least thousands of them! More of them are still rising from the ground."

"The lord summoned such a large army of undeads this easily in such a short amount of time?"

"As expected of a demon lord. The lord's powers are far beyond the understandings of this world."

The demon worshipping cultists gasped at the sight and said in astonishment. Their eyes bright with anticipation as they watched the undead legion rising from the ground.

The undeads kept appearing for a long time before not even a single corpse or bone left in the cemetery. The light from the crown of Aryumaya dispersed.

The undeads slowly moved and assembled in front of Adrosiean like a legion. The numbers of the undeads were at least tens of thousands.
