After taking a deep breath, he opened the door and walked inside. Emily sat there with her back against the wall, looking out of the window without any emotion on her face.
"Mommy," Kai spoke after placing the bag of herbs away, and just as she turned her face in his direction, he gave her a tight hug.
"Where did you disappear to for so long? I am not going to let you go out ever again. Do you know how hard it was for me to not even be able to go and search for you?" Emily spoke as she hugged him back even more tightly and began to cry.
"I'm sorry, I won't disappear again for so long. Don't worry, nothing happened to me. We got late just because there were so many guests coming into the town. I also missed you a lot. Have you been eating properly?" Kai asked with his eyes closed, feeling the warmth of his mother.
