Adrik kept following Garvin from behind while keeping holding his ID card in his hands. He wasn't lying. Every time Adrik approached a metal door, he had to put his card in the card reader located right next to the door just to open it.

"Sergeant Garvin, where are we going?" Adrik asked as he walked through the metal hallway that was located underground.

"Well, to the testing ground of course," Garvin answered.

"I see. What kind of test is available there?" Adrik asked.

"The first test is of course the strength test. You will have to punch a punching bag connected to a measuring device. The second test will be the agility and perceptive test. In this test, you will have to run through an obstacle course while avoiding the robots and drones. The last one is the endurance and aptitude test. In this test, you will have to run while shooting the target with a magical spell," Garvin answered.

It was not good news. Adrik would struggle on those tests. Although he was a demon, he was a defective demon. He was weaker than an ordinary human being. Even the first test alone would dictate that he was very weak in terms of strength.

In the new world, a regular human could destroy a broken wall in a single punch. This was the new standard and Adrik wasn't able to do that. His hands would bleed badly if he tried to do that although a regular person could. The first test wasn't going to go well.

The second test was the easiest although Adrik was blind as bats. He couldn't run fast enough to overrun a regular human, much less a military drone. The last test was going to be the hardest. Adrik simply didn't have any magical aptitude. The test was simply impossible.

"Alright, you will meet with the rest of the platoon here, give me your bag, I will put it into your room." Garvin swiped his ID card into the reader next to a metal door. "Good luck."

Adrik entered that room and saw multiple people in the same military uniform as he was wearing. There were six participants, all of them were the same age as him. Two of them were demons, one was elves, the others were human.

"Damn, would you look at that guy?"

"Yeah, he's quite handsome. What is his name?"

As the students were talking about him. Another soldier entered the room. This soldier's rank was higher than Garvin's. It's identifiable by the different uniform configurations that he wore. There was a strip on his collar.

"Hello, good afternoon everyone, I am Lieutenant Elenoire, I am the leader of 10th Combat Platoon. As you can see, all of you are under my command. Now, I need your attention, so look at me please," Elenoire said calmly while everyone's attention was directed at him.

"Thank you. In this competency test, your ability will be measured by three tests. The first test was to measure the strength test. In this test, the strength of your punch will be measured. Of course, do your best and good luck!" Elenoire said.

A punching bag appeared from the floor. The punching bag was attached to the floor and there was a dial below the punching bag. That dial was for showing the score that the students got.

"Alright, I will show how the scoring works. Look at this screen," Elenoire showed a bunch of numbers inside of the screen.

[Scoring System]

F Rank = 0 - 1000 Points

E Rank = 1001 - 6000 Points

D Rank = 6001 - 13000 Points

C Rank = 13001 - 22000 Points

B Rank = 22001-33000 Points

A Rank = 33001-45000 Points

S Rank = 45001-57000 Points

O Rank = >57000 Points

"You will accumulate points from all of these tests. The number of points that you got will decide your final rank. Of course, there are prefixes to these ranks. Anyway, good luck everyone. First participant, Olivia Gardner," Elenoire said.

A blonde human girl showed up. This girl was wearing glasses.

She punched the punching bag and the score appeared on the dial.

[4,000 Points]

"Ok, next," Elenoire said.

The other students did the test until it was Adrik's turn. He only had to punch the punching bag once and the score would appear. He punched the punching bag and the score appeared.

[100 Points]

"Ehem, Adrik, I want you to punch the bag with full force. What you just did was not that. Try again!"

Adrik punched the bag again.

[75 Points]

"Is that your full power? Damn, you're an embarrassment to this platoon," Olivia said.

Elenoire sighed, "Well, if that's the best you can do, I need to work hard. Let's move on to the next test, shall we? Let's go outside."

Everyone got out of that room and move to the room next to it. This room was way bigger. This room looked more similar to a military obstacle course. There were high walls that needed to be climbed, a lot of small obstacles, a lot of sandbags, and robots.

"Alright, listen to me again, you need to run through this obstacle track as fast as you can. Points will be added for every robot or drone that you destroy or disable. To disable a drone or a robot, you have to push a button located on the back of its body. Be aware though, this robot can and will detect you if you are in their line of sight. You can also destroy them by pulling their head out of their socket but it's going to take a lot of force," Elenoire explained.

There were two types of robots in that course. One was a flying military drone. Usually, this drone carried large-caliber machine guns or missiles. This time, the drone was unarmed. The robot that the military owned had the same appearance as a human being. The way to differentiate between a robot and a human was by looking at its skin. The robot has metallic skin while humans didn't.

Anyway, that was all of the differences. The score would be measured by the amount of robot that was disabled and the time that a participant took to complete the obstacle course. It wouldn't be easy for Adrik.

The obstacle course should take at least ten minutes to finish. It would be easy enough if Adrik were actually average. A regular person should be able to run as fast as a speeding car, Adrik couldn't do that.

"Alright, Adrik, you should go first," Elenoire said.

"Me?" Adrik asked back.

"Yeah, you, go!" Elenoire said.

Adrik started running on the obstacle course. He jumped the obstacle rather easily, but disabling the drone was not an option for him. It required him to jump into the top of the drone from the top of the wall which was hard.

Adrik noticed that one of the robots tried to get in his way. The robot was right in front of him and tried to catch him. Adrik tried to dodge the fast-moving hand of the robot but he failed miserably and dropped to the ground.

He stood up again and the bot slapped him again and he fell.

"C'mon, Kid, dodge the bot!" Elenoire shouted from afar.

Adrik helplessly tried dodging the hand of the robot that tried to slap him until he stopped standing up. The bot was set to its weakest configuration, yet Adrik couldn't dodge the moving hand of the bot.

"INITIATION CODE: ECHO. PROTOCOL: KILO INDIA LIMA LIMA," Elenoire shouted and the bot stopped moving.

Adrik stood up and Elenoire entered the obstacle course and evacuated him from the training area. The rest of the participants continued the test afterward while Elenoire checked on Adrik to make sure that he was fine.

"Hmm, no bruise, you're fine kid, but still, how did you mess that test up?" Elenoire said.

"Sorry sir, I wasn't at my best performance today," Adrik said.

"I see, well, you will get 0 scores on this test, is that ok to you? Or do you want to try again later?" Elenoire asked.

"I think it's fine for me, sir. I don't feel too well today," Adrik gave an excuse.

"Ok."

The rest of the participants followed the rest of the test while Adrik didn't. He confessed to Lieutenant Elenoire that he was inept in magic. Elenoire understood that and let Elmir not follow the rest of the test.

After the test was finished, everyone was gathered in the first room. Everyone's score was displayed on the same screen where the scoring system was shown. There were several scores.

[Score Board]

Olivia Gardner: B

Addler Messer: B-

Angie Orr: B--

Annaliesa Kempf: C+

Gulistanskiy Orlov: C

Adrik Zakharov: F—

"Great job, almost all of you are exceeding my expectation. Well, almost all of you," Elenoire looked at Adrik.

"Well, I believe there is one weak link, sir," Olivia said.

"Don't be like that, Olivia. He's still a member of our team and we must work alongside him. I believe he still has its uses," Elenoire said.

"Understood, sir," Olivia said.

"Anyway, Adrik, you are quite an interesting case, you know? But still, I believe that training should help you to become a better soldier," Elenoire said.

Garvin entered the room again. This time, he was in proper military uniform, not the t-shirt that he wore when he picked Adrik up. It might be because he had to do an introduction to the rest of the platoon.

"I think some of you have known me, but let me introduce myself once again. I am Sergeant Reymand Garvin. I'm the sergeant of the 10th Combat Platoon. I'm the second-in-command right after Second Lieutenant Elenoire Kraus. If you have any questions, you ask me, do you understand?" Garvin said.

"Understand, sir," everyone said.

"Good, now, let me show you your rooms," Garvin said.

Everyone got out of the testing rooms, into the metallic hallway. They walked for a while until Garvin brought them to a door. It was a metallic door that required a key card to open. There was also a button that was marked as an emergency right next to the key card reader.

There was a sign on the door itself that read [10th Combat Platoon].

"Alright, inside of this door are six rooms. You can choose the room according to your combat rank. So, the 1st rank got the 1st room and so on. I will meet you in the morning, got it?" Garvin said as he opened the room.

There were six rooms inside of that room. Adrik headed for the 6th room. He opened the door. It was a very basic room with one bed, one bathroom, and one wardrobe. Adrik was too tired. He immediately laid down in the bed.
