The five spinners started each move at a different pace, and soon, the wheel came to a halt.
<> Congratulations! You have spun a "Talent" x2 <>
<> Congratulations! You have spun an "Item" x2 <>
<> Sadly, You have spun a "Thank you for your patronage" <>
<> Now commencing the second round of the random selection of x2 "Talent" and x2 "Items" <>
With the halt of the lottery wheel, the four spinners that had actually landed on something good split into four different lottery wheels and started to spin faster and faster.
The dense words written on the wheel made it impossible for anyone to read.
Disappointingly, one of the spinners had landed on "Thank you for your patronage". But I'm looking forward to the two talents I would be able to get.
<> Congratulations on getting an Epic talent! [Controlled Beastilization Type: (Yet To be Determined)] <>
'Oh! This one seems cool! Does this mean I get to turn parts of my body into animal parts? Awesome!! I like this one the best.'
<> Congratulations on getting a Rare talent! [Rapid Regeneration] <>
Without a second thought, I changed my mind. 'Yeah never mind, I take what I just said back. I like this talent more. I mean, think about it! Compared with being able to turn parts of myself into animal parts like adding tails or claws, never needing to go to a hospital ever in your life sounds like a much better choice!
Just thinking about the horror movies and games that blood, death, and gore that would always occur inside a hospital, I shuddered.
<> Congratulations on getting [Breath of the Moon Training Method] <>
The grey system panel pulled my attention back.
'Breath of the Moon Training Method?' Ecstatic with the item I got, I waved my chubby little arms in celebration.
Even though it wasn't a skill that directly imprinted the skill into my mind, It was even more important than the skills. Especially with the lack of the system modules that would usually just let me understand the technique with repeated use of the skill.
The training method gave me a direction to go in. I had already speculated that I would not be allowed to learn the Dance of the Fire God, or the Kagura Dance for short, from Tanjuro.
I can't possibly be allowed to learn the dance of the fire god with dad since first, the Dance of the Fire God is only known and used by members of the Kamado family.
The second reason why I would not be allowed to learn is that the Kagura Dance is a dance and technique that is taught by a father to a son.
Once it is learned, a family heirloom, the hanafuda earrings, are also passed down and are worn by the son when fighting in the battle and to show that he has learned the technique. And the dance is therefore passed down through generations in this way.
Although I'm a part of the Kamado family, I'm still an adopted child, and even if Dad overlooks this, the method and who the inheritance is directed to would stop me since I'm not the eldest son.
This is why I was so excited when I got a training method for a breathing technique with strength not losing to the breath of the sun. And this was just one of the reasons why I was ecstatic.
The most important thing about the training method is that I would be able to learn the Breath of the Moon much faster than if I had learned it entirely by the glimpse of the breathing style that would be imprinted in my mind If I had gotten the skill instead.
Learning that way would be like grasping for a needle in a haystack but ten times harder. With the training method, I would be able to learn the breath of the moon with half the effort and twice the results.
It has the same principle as you would learn more by having a teacher teaching you than by you learning by reading books on your own.
<> Congratulations on getting a [Magic Sewing Kit] <>
<> End of Lottery, please claim your rewards! <>
The system poured a bucket of cold water onto my burning enthusiasm for the last item.
'A what now? Does the clothing sewn by the magic sewing kit give you extra defense or does it look better or something? What's the use of this thing?!'
Slightly dissatisfied with the last item, I claimed my talents. I would have nowhere to put them if I claimed it right then and there, so I just kept the items unclaimed.
Instantly, I felt a warm current flowing in my veins and a strong force that hid within my cells, ready to explode with power, but mainly in my lower back. Feeling as If I could lift a cow, I accidentally broke off a piece of wood from the wooden crib.
Looking around, I see Tanjiro looking at me weirdly. Thankfully, no one was around to witness the demonstration of my strength except him. He would probably forget it in just a few weeks.
Breathing a sigh of relief, I ignored Tanjiro and focused my attention and concentrated on breathing.
*floof*
Feeling a slight itch on my nose, I tried to ignore it.
*sploof*
'...???' With something resting on my cheeks, I opened my eyes.
An amazingly fluffy tail greeted me. One tail was in my face, while the other one was in Tanjiro's hands.
'Wait. Tanjiro?!' Realizing that Tanjiro was still beside me, I panicked.
Understanding that the tails were the effect of my new talent, [Controlled Beastiliazation], I tried to feel and retract my tails but to no avail.
However, it did somehow make the tails move around erratically, accidentally hitting tanjiro's eyes.
Instantly, a noisy wailing echoed in the room. And I heard the sound of the wooden floors creaking.
Knowing that I was about to be discovered, I felt desperate. And with that desperation came the tears along with it.
...
The door to the baby room opened and Kie hurriedly stepped in.
Coming to the side of the crib, Kie comforted the children.
Kiyomi had her eyes closed during the entire time, afraid to look. Knowing that to be mistaken as a Kitsune during the Taisho period was going to get her killed.
But the screams of horror did not appear. After the crying stopped, the mother continued to do the chores around the house.
Confused, Kiyomi opened her eyes. The tails that were attached to her tailbone were nowhere to be seen.
Breathing a small sigh of relief, she decided that she has had enough drama and went into a deep sleep, even deciding to skip lung expansion training for the day.
However, Tanjiro was giving her a weird stare, more focused than ever, as if determined to dig out all the secrets that her sister has.
Kiyomi will never know that even until much, much later, that Tanjiro will never forget this fateful day.
Holy heck. Third-person POV is much easier to write than first-person POV. I might consider writing in third-person POV from now on.
