"Am I going… to die?" I mumble to myself as I gradually lose consciousness. Slowly drifting into the embrace of death while reencountering my previous experiences.

My name is Rin Okabe, a high school graduate, now expecting to go to university after summer break. I was elated to finally finish high school, as now I was looking forward to continuing my otaku lifestyle after being forced to study 24/7 by my parents – it was damn torturous not being able to even touch a single manga and novel during my intense studying sessions.

Though over now, thankfully!

Well after all that, a few days into summer break, I decided to go to my favourite local manga store to reinvigorate my passion for reading novels and manga again because to be frank, my mind is lost as I have nothing new to read.

After opening the door of my house, the sunlight flared brightly in my eyes making me squint a little, and just as I walked out, a shout of my mother reached my ears, "Don't forget to get a watermelon for your father", "alright" I replied in a round-about manner.

I promptly exited and slammed the door shut, taking a paced walk now to the local manga store.

The sun blazed in the sky above while making me feel hotter every second, I was glad that I wore a white t-shirt opposed to my darker ones. Eventually, I arrived at my destination and walked straight into the world of manga and novels; a few hours later, I gleefully made my exit, excited to read what they had in store for me. I looked up at the sky, "Its getting late."

I strolled down the street, taking turns to reach home, however, I then heard a distressed "Meow", albeit faintly. Gazing around me I quickly spotted a small black kitten on the road curled up in a delicate manner.

As I walked up to it, I took quick notice at how injured the small kitten was; its fur was smothered in mud and dirt, and crimson red blood seeping through its fur and down it's leg. It was a pitiful site, and more so to a cat lover like me.

I quickly bent down on the road, not minding that my bag of manga and novels was grazing the concrete floor. I gently picked up the kitten into my hands while the poor thing was meowing weakly. I had to find a nearby vet, or it was not going to make it I concluded.

I quickly whipped out my phone from my upper pocket of my shorts and started to search for the nearest vet around my local area. I was about to navigate around when suddenly a loud, "BEEEEEP" screamed into my ears. Alarmed, I lifted my head up from the phone and watched as a large truck sped my way (Truck-San?!).

It was so near that I couldn't even have the ability to react and move out the way, although a stray thought nibbled my mind telling me that the driver probably did not even bother to hit the brakes. I felt the presence of death moments away the truck hit me in a full-on body slam; my body went flying.

The bag in my hand full of Mangas and novels broke free from my clutches only to fly through the air and fall outspread on the road below. This was the least of my concerns as the kitten in my hand also went flying with me, though thankfully, it did not get any serious injuries and it landed back on the road just fine.

SLAM!' the truck went against my body as it flung me through the air, with such force that when I landed on the road, I was scrapped across it like a ragdoll. The pain was so unbearable across my whole body and especially to my head as it was like experiencing a hammer to the head as I laid on the floor limp and struck in an unnatural state.

My limbs were blooded and twisted in various angles - it was a gruesome site. I groaned as I tried to move but I was slowly losing consciousness. I felt the warm crimson blood seep through my wounds and the irony aftertaste of blood in my mouth. I knew this was the end for me. My consciousness gradually dwindled away - life flashing before my eyes.

I have never been a socially active person. I have mostly experienced the feeling of being social through reading numerous novels and manga. The characters just felt real to me as I could sometimes relate to them.

It was then that I forgot to go to the groceries to buy a watermelon for father, I felt a little guilt and regret as I felt the warmth of my body slowly fade away, 'I hope my parents would be alright', I prayed inwardly.

Coldness crept upon me as my conscience faded, drifting into an eternal darkness...
