Demon Queen Reborn: As A Spirit?

"Can you believe it? I was nothing more than a normal village girl when at the early age of 9, the empire kidnapped me." "They experimented on me physically and mentally for 10 years." "That's all it took for them to me make me into a living weapon." "I became a general that slew countless demons alongside my disgusting human brethren." "I shoved my sword into the face demon king while the hero's party supported me from behind." "The world was about to crumble due to a missing demon lord so I changed my race to a demon. I helped keep a firm boundary between the demons and humans." "I brought about world peace but what did I get in exchange?" "The guns, swords, spears, and magic staffs of the hero party tearing me apart." "And now I'm here. Talking to the corpse of a rabbit that I just killed." ------------ After reading Nanomancer Reborn, this ignorant one realized that there were not enough, well-written tough female leads in the battle-action genre. So I will try my best. The first couple of chapters will be a bit similar to Nanomancer Reborn's - I've Become A Snow Girl?. Of course, I will be borrowing some elements from Nanomancer but I guarantee that this story will be going somewhere different but also interesting is please give it a go. The system and stuff related to it are also drastically different. I can't promise much but one thing for sure is my grammar and vocabulary are on point. This is only my second real attempt at writing a story so have mercy on this author. I would love for you guys to point out any mistakes and leave some constructive criticism if possible. Hunting The Invisble

"Liata morfin so mo tarco eite, HOLY BALLS!"

Two adjoined balls of light, the size of tennis balls appeared on top of Nina's small head.

The balls hovered in the air only for less than a second as they expanded and then burst out in a brilliant flash of holy light.

"GROOAAR!!"

The bears scream in despair as the light not only blinds them but also starts to burn them out of existence with its holy effect against the evil spirits.

"HAHAHAHAHAHA! It worked!" yells Nina as she runs out of the area while the bears are distracted. By now, you should have realized that Nina is also categorized as a spirit at the moment. They are beings that are strengthened by the evil element.

It wouldn't make sense for them to be able to cast holy magic when they are 'evil'.

When Nina first awakened in this world and was figuring out how to use her new class and race, she realized that what happened was that her soul was put into this body. What categorizes spirits as evil is their tainted soul.

Nina's soul is the very opposite of tainted as she was blessed by the 'goddess' of her world when she defeated the demon king and gave her affinity to holy magic and a soul that could never be corrupted.

When she became a demon, Nina kept that blessing as it was ingrained into her soul. This also meant she could use all sorts of demonic em]elements but they would not be very effective in this dungeon.

"Huff, huff..." Once she was far enough from her previous location, she collapsed on top of a tree and just started at the 'sky' as she listened to her own breath. She closed her eyes and relied on her hearing as she rested to recover her stamina and mana.

MP: 30/940

250 mana for [HOLY BALLS], a spell she learned from the hero party's holy magician.

It's not really enough to kill a low-grade spirit in one shot as it was designed to be an emergency, AOE spell to get one out of a tough spot.

[Current Mana Gathering Rate: 5 MP per Minute (+2 MP due to compatible location)]

From zero to 940 mana would take 188 minutes or a little over 3 hours.

"I really do not want to sit here for three hours. The bears can find me and call over their buddies at any time. Should I hunt the boss and stalk him until I have enough mana?"

As Nina mulled over her next step, her instincts started to fire. She felt warning bells going off in her head and telling her to move.

Swish!

Nina swiftly moves her dead as she falls off the branch of the tree she was laying on.

Thud!

Nina got off her ass as soon as possible because she knows saw that the branch she was one of was sliced apart and fell to the ground as well. On the side of her forehead, blood started to trickle from what seemed like a blade wound. There are also missing and damaged strands of hair.

"It almost gt me! That's what I get for thinking too highly of myself." Nina cursed inwardly at her own complacent self.

Her past set of special skills, high levels, and stats made it to where almost no one could ever sneak up on her. She was delusional into thinking that her stats were as good as before and that she could just rely on her senses.

It was literally just her habits overpowering her common sense for a bit and she paid a dear price for it.

HP: 200/300

That one attack took off a third of her health as her current build was that of a glass cannon.

While moving around at a steady pace, Nina looked all around for the assailant but failed to notice anything. It could not have been a magic spell or projectile that targeted her. It had to be a blade of some sort.

If it was a projectile, she would see it near the place where she was attacked and if it was a spell, she would have felt the mana or seen some residue of the spell's effect.

The branch was just cleanly cut off so it had to have been right next to her but she could see nobody.

"Oh right, spirits. Those motherfuckers can go invisible." Some higher-ranked spirits and boss spirits usually have skills that can make them absolutely silent or invisible. "I got attacked by the boss then."

Only the boss would have such a skill as this dungeon did not have high-ranking monsters in it in the first place. The highest-ranked monster would probably be the dungeon boss on the 5th floor at E RANK.

"Invisibility huh? That's not enough to take out this queen." Former queen you mean.

'This might be deadly but also the only way I can win.' Nina takes out her black dagger and stands still. She keeps her awareness up to the maximum and focuses on any possible disruptions in the surroundings that would give the boss away.

If only Nina had some more man, she could cast a 70 mana spell that tags your enemies with a red light for 10 seconds. She only had 55 MP.

Fwoosh!

The sound of a dagger slicing through the air was heard clearly by Nina as she swiftly dodged a strike from her left.

She raised her own dagger and sliced.

PUCHI!

Blood gushed out of the wound that Nina inflicted on her own right arm. The red liquid splatter on something in the air as a figure started to blur in and out of existence.

"Gotcha bitch!" yelled Nina as she aimed straight for the monster's heart with her palm.

"EXPLOSION!"

BWOOOSH!

A small dot of red light escaped from Nina's palm as floated towards the ghost in mere milliseconds and expanded into a somewhat fiery explosion.

Nina flung backwards as she was too close to the blast's proximity.

She looked at her burnt left hand and waited for the system announcement.

Nina knew that there was no way a low ranked monster would have a high enough invisibility skill to where it could not be interfered with. Dungeon given skills at her current level were filled with many flaws, unlike her spells which were perfected on her land for over 100 years.

She was also sure she had heard the sound of the blade cutting through the air when she was initially attacked. This meant that the invisibility was only for the user and not any equipment or outside entities.

She had calculated her plan at lightning speed to wait for the sound of the blade, to dodge and spray her blood on it and then finish it off while it is stunned due to being exposed.

The invisibility skill may be very useful but its downsides were too glaring for someone of her caliber. It is easily exploitable.

"Thank you Goddess Megumin of Eternal Explosion. Your handmade skills are useful as always." Even though Nina had never liked the goddesses of her world as they were too snobby and overly sensitive towards their pride, she had to admit that the spells they gave humans are way too strong for lower ranks.

For only 50 mana, she could cast a deadly blast that could eviscerate being with low magic defense such as spirits. The negative aspect of this skill is that it had to be activated in close proximity to the caster.

It's a double-edged blade, a very sharp one at that.

"Health."
