Matthew stared at the drawings in the green book, admiring Mallory's attention to detail and creativity in the bags she designed. He was so engrossed in what he was doing, that he barely noticed his friends walk in.
"What's this? You're actually reading a book?" Jacob asked, sitting next to him at the lounge table. He dropped his wallet and keys onto the table and kicked his legs up onto the table. He reached into his jacket and pulled out his pack of cigarettes.
Matthew immediately closed the book and kept it on his lap, he turned to Jacob and snatched the pack out of his hands.
"Hey-"
"How many times I gotta tell you not to smoke around me? You stupid bastard?!" He threw the pack to the ground, not wanting to get the smell on him or the book.
Jacob parted his lips to say something, but one of their friends shook their head slowly from side to side, warning him not to.
Defeated, he apologized. "I'm sorry."
