The Beginning

As the old man and I drew near his home, I had been possessed with this peculiar feeling as if I had walked this road before and strode over these very blades of grass. This feeling was interrupted by the sound of the door opening. As I strode in timidly and almost afraid, a boy looking in his early twenties poked his head out the door and said "Oi, you get any mushrooms for the soup, old man?"

"No; however, I did find something a little bit amusing."

"And what would that be, grandpa?"

"Well why don't you take a look for yourself?"

As he slowly shifted his gaze onto me, he looked surprised and responded with a peculiar grunt. After this he gathered himself and asked "Who is this?"

"Yujun is his name, we know nothing else."

"Is he a lost soul or a victim of amnesia?"

"I'm not sure."

"Well what's his name?"

"Why doesn't he tell you himself"

I then said "Yujun."

"Well Yujun, I'm Kyung and this old man is Jiho."

He then returned to the kitchen to continue cooking, despondent toward his work and evidently perplexed. After a substantial but not very long time, the boy returned with a bowl of soup for everyone as well as an odd conglomeration of peculiar foods piping hot and then said "Well lets start with that sword you have strapped to your back."

"Huh?" I reached back and noticed that he was right, I did have a sword strapped to my back, the same one at the tree where I woke up. I realized that I had instinctively grabbed it out of habit without consciously realizing it.

"Well, that surely has to have something to do with your past doesn't it?"

"I..... I guess," I responded with a shaky voice.

He then proceeded to ask a multitude of questions that I lacked a response to other than "I don't know." His constant questioning and asking provoked me as they couldn't see that I obviously didn't know anything.

After the meal we decided it would be wise to assess my current skills. We left the house and went to the back yard to assess my talents as well as former skills.

From there I noticed that this man was either rich or lucky as he owned a large home with a traditional Korean style as well as large land space.

"Well then, here we go!"

Kyung then propelled himself at an alarming speed towards me holding a small dagger. I quickly drew forth my blade to block him once again instinctively.

As he fell upon me many swift but light strikes, I began noticing patterns that were evident but capricious and inconsistent. With this knowledge I attacked for the first time and fell a blow right next to his neck claiming victory with one swing. I stopped the blade right before it removed his head as he stopped moving and stood still. As he slowly drew back he said "You're pretty good, but how will you measure up to someone channeling." His face drew back in a condescending smile and he leaped forth seeming desultory with his movements. He jumped in for an obvious attack and I moved my blade to counter it. However, much to my shock, his blow had such a force that it impeded my movement and rendered my arm numb.

I felt a sharp permeating sting in my arm that had obviously been caused by a severe strain on my arm. The pain lingered as Kyung pulled back much more energized, obviously satisfied with his efficacious attack. He then reached his hand out to the side and grabbed the air as if he was manipulating dough. A light peeked through the cracks of his fingers as I felt the atmosphere swelling as if a singularity had begun to manifest in this small town during our small fight. The air felt more thick and potent with every second. I realized I had to prevent what he would bring forth. I launched myself at him and he raised his hand and hit me with this energy. The hissed with power and once he struck me I felt a sudden numbness in my body. I fell to the ground unable to move feeling unharmed but unable to move. As Kyung and Jiho walked over to my limp body, Kyung said "I think he'll do fine in this world with a little work."

And they then dragged me into their home.
