Chapter 11: Wonders of the World
“Oh, wow!” Cecilia yelled over the thunderous roar.
Not long after they had resumed their hike that morning, they had begun hearing the rumble of the falls in the distance.
Detrick wasn’t sure how many days had gone by since they had met by the stream, but they had been following it down for a few days, at least. Cecilia had decided upon their direction, and Detrick had followed her without a second thought.
It was now midafternoon, and Detrick, Cecilia, and the demon stood at the fall line of a massive waterfall. Detrick had never seen anything like it.
The waters tumbled over the edge to fall an incredible distance to the bottom. Mist filled the air from the impact of the water below.
Detrick wasn’t sure Cecilia had a true destination in mind. But he didn't care. When he had vowed to stay with her and protect her, he had meant it.
