"But she really cares—"

"Out!"

"Shut up and get out!!" Ethan screamed at her. He could not bear to hear any more about Olivia.

Taking a deep breath, Ethan tried to calm himself down.

His heart was pounding fast, just thinking about his ex-girlfriend.

He was barely able to heal the scars that Olivia left behind.

He thought he had completely moved on... yet, just hearing her mention Olivia's name.

He felt the mixed emotion of loathing, betrayal, disgust...

After losing his parents, Ethan had no one but Olivia to turn on to but—

She left him when he needed her the most.

Ethan could still remember her disgusted face when she saw him with the scar.

Tears welled up around the corner of his eyes remembering the event that took everything from him.

He wanted nothing but to cry to his heart's content.

Knock-Knock

Ethan quickly wiped his tears and answered them to come in.

Grind~

A beautiful lady with a sexy figure entered the room.

She was wearing a classic grey suit with glasses on her beautiful blue eyes.

Although her beauty was lacking compared to Victoria's but the same could not be said about her figure.

She had a slim waist, and big breasts, around D-cup. She was wearing a grey skirt but it could not hide her cheeks completely.

Her every movement was precisely calculated, giving off a seductive aura.

She was holding a few documents in her hands as she walked in front of Ethan.

Before speaking, she adjusted her glasses.

Ethan also straightens himself up, wondering who she might be.

"Hello, Mr Christopher, I am Clara Hansworth, an agent from the Hunter Association." She introduced herself, with a little bit of confidence mixed in between.

"First of all, we greatly thank you for protecting the civilians.

If it weren't for you, there would have been a large number of casualties.

As a token of gratitude, we'd like to give you a certificate for your bravery and Five-hundred dollars in cash." She paused to let the information settle before continuing.

Meanwhile, Charles was surprised to see her not being bothered by his scars.

She didn't even flinch and talked to him as if he was a normal person.

Besides his sister, he had hardly seen anyone talk to him normally after getting the scar.

"But, Mr Christopher, next time, you should not put yourself in danger. It's the guild's responsibility for the safety of citizens." This time her voice was a little commanding.

"Guild?"

"Don't make me laugh. The guild that wasn't even aware of the rift. That guild will protect us?"

Even though the rift opened unexpectedly, the guild should have arrived much earlier. But it didn't and why?

Because, if they arrive a little late, there will be a lot more casualties and that would help them increase their fame.

Clara could sense the weight of pain and anger in Ethan's voice.

She hesitated for a moment, unsure of how to respond. "But that—"

"Do you know how I got this scar?" Ethan asked in a low but commanding manner.

Ethan continued, his voice filled with a mix of sorrow and bitterness. "Two years ago, when I was with my family on a vacation, a rift was opened without any warning— My parents... they sacrificed themselves to save me."

His voice trembled, and tears threatened to spill from his eyes once again.

Clara's heart ached for him, understanding the magnitude of his loss.

She waited for him to gather himself, giving him the space to share his story.

"The disgusted stares that people gives me. It pains me."

Clara said softly, her voice filled with empathy.

"Sometimes, people's reactions are a reflection of their own insecurities and fears. It doesn't excuse their behavior, but it helps to remember that their judgment is not a reflection of your worth."

Ethan sighed, his shoulders slumping. "I know, deep down. But it still hurts, you know? To feel so alone, to be constantly reminded of what I've lost."

She moved her hands towards Ethan with a sad expression but retracted.

Thinking something, her sad expression changed with a light smile.

"I should not tell this to anyone but..."

"...huh?"

"The Hunter Association is trying their best to get to rid of Silverthorn guild. But as you know, the media and the public continue to support them."

Clara continued, her voice filled with frustration. "The Silverthorn Guild has a strong hold on the city, and despite our suspicions of illegal activities, we lack concrete evidence to take them down."

Ethan's eyebrows furrowed in confusion. "Why would they support a guild involved in illegal activities?"

Clara sighed, frustration evident in her voice. "They have managed to manipulate public opinion and maintain their reputation."

Ethan felt a surge of anger within him. The thought of the guild thriving while causing harm and endangering innocent lives infuriated him.

Clara's gaze softened as she looked at Ethan. "Mr. Christopher, I want you to know that I don't find your scar disgusting. Your bravery in protecting the civilians is commendable, and your sacrifice has not gone unnoticed."

Ethan's eyes widened slightly, caught off guard by her comment.

He had grown accustomed to the stares of disgust and the judgmental glances.

Clara's acceptance was a breath of fresh air.

In a bold move, Clara leaned in slightly, a hint of a smile on her face. "You know, Mr. Christopher, I admire your heroism. It would be an honor if you would consider going on a date with me."

Ethan blinked, surprised by the unexpected turn of events. "A date?"

Clara nodded, her gaze unwavering. "Yes, a date. I think you deserve a break from all the hardships you've faced."

She reached into her pocket and pulled out a small card, which she handed to Ethan. "Here's my personal number. If you have some free time and are interested, give me a call. No pressure, of course."

Ethan took the card, feeling a mix of curiosity and intrigue. Clara's proposition offered him a chance for both personal connection and a potential ally in his quest for justice.

Before he could respond, Clara stood up, her smile brightening. "I'll leave you to think about it. Take your time, Mr. Christopher. And thank you again for everything you've done."

With that, Clara turned and walked towards the door, her presence leaving a lingering sense of excitement in the room.
