High Profile Rape Case involving the Sarmiento and Ramirez Clan ends up in suicide
Manila Philippines-- Diana Sarmiento, Daughter of Senator Antonio Sarmiento, a well known politician, took her own life following the absolution of Alexander Ramirez from the charges of rape. The Sarmiento clan claims that the police investigators mismanage her rape claims, They also believe her perpetrators escaped prosecution because of his prominent family.
The Timeline
July 2017
According to her friends, Sarmiento was an extroverted girl during her first year on campus. She took up a media related course and attended the same school as Ramirez--Who was then on his last year in Medical school.
Sarmiento interviewed Ramirez for her finals last October 2017, after meeting Ramirez, rumors about them 'Dating' kept on being reported, but nothing was ever confirmed.
January 2018
The worlds of Politics and Medical groups were shaken when a well-known Political and Medicinal clan got involved in a rape charge.
Cardiologists Antonio Ramirez, the father of Alexander Ramirez, denied all charges alleging the involvement of his son in a rape claim by Diana Sarmiento.
According to a witness, both Alexander Ramirez and Diana Sarmiento attended the same party hosted by Santaniel Andrade. Pictures leading up to 10pm can prove that there was an interaction between the two. The next day, Diana Sarmiento filed an official case of two counts of rape against Alexander Ramirez.
May 2019
After more than a year of investigations and hearing, the court finally decided to acquit Ramirez from all charges of rape. It was said that the prosecution could not present clear evidence that would prove the guilt of the defense. Because of this, Alexander Ramirez walked free last May 23, 2019.
June 2019
A week after the announcement of Ramirez release, a statement was given by the Sarmiento's family, confirming tge death of their only daughter Diana Sarmiento.
