Chapter Nine

Kira watched Bedelia while she sleep, daughter of the strongest fire Phoenix that ever lives, she had power that would save them all from the great and bring back those in exile for years.

They had been trained for these, to protect her when the time comes to an honorable task and she was had she could serve with her life. And for years, she had been anticipating this day, a day she'll be opportune to meet the daughter of a great Phoenix leader.

she never really know what she had expected at first until she was stood in the same room with her Queen, someone that possessed extraordinary power that would save or ruin them all.

And despite not manifesting her powers yet, she had sensed the powerful aroma exhibited by her when she walked in earlier, and still, now she's asleep. Kira had restrained the urge to bow to her when she walked into the room, a strict order had been placed on them not to reveal they're true identity to anyone.

They were to protect her from the shadow and Evan was a compatible feature of her, he was her ice. someone strong enough to withstand half of her energy...her soul mate.

Bedelia snapped her eyes open by midnight and suddenly felt her skin burning to a crisp! she reached out for Jace...to cry out for his help but only found a space next to her. Jace wasn't by her side, no one was there to help her, and she was left helplessly in the merciful of the beings in the darkness ready to take her soul.

She could feel their scalped body on her skin as they fought to devour her, she could only watch in tears and pray to be saved as if her prayer were heard, she felt her body return fo the humid temperature and the scalping being the darkness seems to vanish and gently like nothing ever happen, she fell back to sleep.

Bedelia woke up the next morning and spend a few minutes scrapping her brain to process what happened to her last night...the energy she felt that night wasn't that of Jace since he was the only one with the ability to calm her nerves. The energy she felt last night was much stronger and extraordinary...and it only drew her mind back to the beings in the shadow.

Its presence felt off and they exhibits foul energy, just the thought of their scalping bodies against her sent goosebumps and chill down her spine and after she got out of bed, she spent an hour scrubbing her skin hoping that it would help to erase the terror it left in her mind.

Jace pulled open her door and saw his best friend standing at the door all dressed up for school "Wow! Do you never come to get me for school? Jace asked surprisedly, what was the initial change of attitude this morning?

"Wait, is this because of your new roommate? he asked her making way for her to enter.

" I wish...Bedelia mouthed as age made her way inside the room. "I didn't get to see her this morning, which is a good thing right?

She stood at the center of the room to stare at the new bed opposite Jace's and without saying a word she turned to him for an explanation.

"You're not the only one that got a new roommate," he said and walks toward his table to pack his books on the desk.

"This doesn't make any sense" it was terrifying being aware that we'd been robbed of our privacy.

Jace watched the look of horror on her face and walked up to kiss her forehead.

"You need to understand that we don't run this orphanage and things could change unexpectedly, the only thing we need to do is to try to adapt to the new change, Bedelia"

She shrugged helplessly as she watched him "Is she going to punish us this much? Because it doesn't make any sense!

Suddenly the door flung open, revealing a young male teenager at the door, he had white hair and ocean-blue eyes.

Who was he and why was she suddenly attracted to him, this was unlike her to be attracted to any guy but here she was locking glaze with him and the only thing she could think about was how beautiful he was.

She was going to use the word beautiful because he deserves the praise and without knowing what was really happening, she found herself taking steps toward him as much as she wanted to fall out of this trance she found it impossible to do so.

And within seconds, she was a few inches away from him, what was happening?

"What are you? and without waiting for him to answer, Bedelia reached up to press her lips in his.

Jace watched them in awe without a word, what demon had possessed Bedelia? That's what he couldn't explain! The unfiltered glare between his roommate and his best friend and the swift kiss which was totally unlike her.

The question now was why?

Bedelia pulled away from his embrace, what was there to say after this "Let's go! she pushed her way through without a backward glance to check if Jace was following along, she just need to get away from this stranger...Fast!

Evan stood motionless as he watched them both leave the room, his mind felt fuzzy from the kiss which made him unaware of Kira's presence "Danger's approaching! she announced finally getting his attention.
