Steve and I poured the bait into the water. The clear water turned bright red. The bloody smell would lure the predators in. I whirled back to check the trackers which would be attached to them. We would not dive down until I shot the trackers onto the sharks, because if they were to come back and hurt us, things would not be as easy.

I inhaled deeply. I needed to go in the water without an underwater breathing device to attach the trackers, because we would shoot them at a shorter distance at their fins, which were exposed above the water.

“You ready?”

“I’m always ready.” I smiled at Owen. He gave me a reassuring pat on my shoulder. “Don’t pull me up yet after you turn the engine on. I’ll swim back unless they try to eat me, you can pull me up then.”

“Don’t worry. If it goes bad, I’ll throw your uncle down.”
