ARC 1: The Abandoned Lover’s Salvation (16) Chapter 16: Ding! Ding! Ding!

Lumiere finally regained his consciousness after three days of rest. This is the first time he realized that a person's hips can be so ruthless. What a shameful discovery, ah!

However, he doesn't feel like moving around. His body is both weak and heavy. After going crazy, trying to end his life and somehow tricked into having sex with Augustine, his eyesight blurred and he went back into sleep.

This state of his continued for days.

The second time he woke up, he felt so parched. Luckily, Sheena is there and immediately helped him drink warm water and inform Augustine. Sadly, he fell asleep once again before he saw the shadow of his man.

The third time he regained his consciousness, he felt very hungry but also pleased with the warm hand that's caressing his hair. He couldn't help but nuzzle with the measly strength he has. He didn't know if he's imagining things, but he seem to have heard a familiar low chuckle.

The fourth time he opened his eyes, he was sweating all over and realized that there is another needle inserted in his left hand. Somehow, his hunger lessened.

The fifth time he woke up, he no longer feel so weak. He can even sit on his own. Still, he felt so sluggish that he prefers to lie in bed all day long.

Two weeks has passed. His body no longer aches, the needle on his hand is also gone. He is just too lazy to move even though he is once again feeling parched, as if his throat was on fire. He blinked twice before deciding to stretch his muscles and crack his neck.

Feeling a bit more alive, he sighed in satisfaction when he heard three loud 'dings'. He squinted his eyes in disbelief. He didn't think he would actually almost complete this first world.

MISFORTUNE LEVEL: 45% --> 88%

Just as he was still baffled and preoccupied, the system, who thought that it's the proper time to update its host, finally decided to appear, looking very jolly and enthusiastic.

[Ao! Host! Host! You're finally awake! Did you see? Did you see, ah?! You've already completely filled the luck clover's favorability level! Once the calamity star paid his debt, we can finally move onto the next world!]

Lumiere, "…"

The system noticed how absent-minded its host was and probably didn't even hear his heavenly praise. However, the system is but a strand of data and didn't know what's going on in its host's mind. Shouldn't its host be the first one to rejoice? Why is the reaction it gathered from the data it collected very different?

It's not like Lumiere didn't hear his system talking, but rather, he felt both happy and terrible. Happy because there is progress in his mission, and a progress means a way for him to go back to his own world. But he also felt extremely appalled. He already gave his heart to someone in this world, but that person… he probably wouldn't know.

The fact is, Lumiere is never Eclaire.

Eclaire will have to go back soon.

Then Lumiere will have to leave.

He took a deep breath and faced the system after he fixed his emotions, "Hey, I already finished the favorability level, but how come there is a huge drop in Jen's affection level and a huge rise in his misfortune level? Even though I deliberately played my part into his trap, there is no way the changes are that drastic unless something happened without my knowledge."

The system blinked twice before narrating the events this past two weeks when Lumiere is in deep sleep.

[The luck clover still gave the calamity star a chance to admit his wrongs but the calamity star only disappointed him. Thus, the luck clover exposed the calamity star's true face to the public and denounce him as his mortal enemy. The calamity star was then fired from the company and couldn't find any proper jobs because whoever takes him in will have to face the wrath of the Lughrenoirs.]

[The calamity star still didn't give up at this point. Since he learned how to play the piano, he tried teaching little kids just like before to earn money. But who didn't know that the music industry is the playground of the luck clover's older brother's wife? Once they've discovered that the calamity star is trying to gain fame as a musician, they brutally played him, raising him up and making him fall.]

[These all happened in the span of just two weeks! That's why, the affection level dropped to such degree and the misfortune level rose magnificently as well! Your luck clover is very capable, host!]

Lumiere's lips thinned. Indeed, Augustine is incredibly capable. Everything about him is good. At this point, Lumiere also got it. Since Eclaire is too kind, Eclaire wouldn't really enact his own revenge, especially when Eclaire's state right now is already calm and collected with fragility that he probably has to be taken to a therapist for check-ups, not like the madness that Lumiere showed two weeks ago which made it possible for Eclaire to declare his killing intent towards Jen.

The system couldn't take its host's silence anymore and asked, [Host, are you unhappy?] if its host is unhappy, regardless of whether it has feelings, the system will feel unhappy too.

This made the other immediately snap out of his own thoughts and faced his system with a childish pout, "Of course I'm unhappy! I didn't get to see it happen after all!"

This made the slightly worried system sigh in relief.

An hour didn't even pass when Lumiere heard another 'ding' again. This made him feel suspicious.

Lumiere wiped his eyes over and over again and the misfortune level really did rose to +7%! Even the system looks so shocked!

"Wha-What happened?! Did Gus do something again?!" Lumiere freaked out. Everything is going too well that he felt his scalp numb.

[W-Wait host! This system will try to collect the data!] The system pounded his head like a garlic.

"Hurry! Hurry!" Lumiere urged.

Even though he's pretty useless in making Jen feel the same pain as Eclaire felt, he still wanted to deal with the final blow himself, ah! Don't snatch his opportunity to have fun! He already made a scenario in his head! He only need to act it out!

Soon, the system came back with a mind-boggling news.

[Host! Hurry up and search what's happening on Tweety! It's all over social media!]

With the system's urging, Lumiere hurried to grab a remote control and turned on the smart TV. Why TV you wonder? Eclaire's phone isn't that accessible after all, hehe...

Whenever Eclaire watch television, there are restricted channels and media to view. However, with the help of his system, he easily browsed through Tweety and finally saw a very eye-catching, exposing and scandalous news. It even made it to the #1 trending on site!

Lumiere blinked twice. It's exposing Jen as a mistress trying to seduce a faithful man, only to embarrass himself!

But who would do such a thing? This isn't how Augustine handles things. After all, it's similar to exposing Eclaire on the media. Even though small, Eclaire also has his circle of friends who aren't as restricted as him. They will surely see it and will soon reach Eclaire's ears.

Augustine wouldn't like that at all!

[The system finally traced down the root cause of the news. Host, do you want to know?]

Lumiere decisively faced his system, "Tell me."

[It's the host's best friend, Camilo Miranda.]

Lumiere blinked in disbelief, "Who?"

[It's Camilo Miranda.] The system repeated.

Lumiere tried to ask over and over again but the system answered him with the same name and it stumps him more.

'Still though, why would someone as unrelated as Camilo do something?' just as he is wondering, he finally understood. He took Camilo to watch his first class acting lesson! Camilo must've done a thorough investigation all by himself and found out his feud with Jen!

'Eclaire! Everyone around you is too OP as hell!' he freaked.

Thinking too much, his brain cells felt so fried that he blurted out to his system comfort words for himself, "Still! This is all because of me! I'm very great after all! HAHAHAHAHA!"

The system didn't understand his pain and only thought he is finally having fun about his accomplishments.
