Taking Pingyuan

Yun steps forward as he approaches the south gate with his army forming a shield wall with the first and second line while the rest waited for them to breach the wall since they didn't know the real number of the enemy hiding behind the walls of Pingyuan.

They reached halfway when an arrow landed in front of the shield wall which made Yun to look up only to find one archer on the wall before more joined him. Yun could see that they weren't professional soldiers as they weren't using any armor on them.

"They are using civilians to defend the walls," says Yun seriously as he saw the same strategy before in Zhan when the Xiongnu attack the town.

"Isn't that better for us?" asks Zhang He confused since they could advance without fearing much damage except for their shields blocking the arrows that could be harmful to them.

"It is, but a cornered enemy can be dangerous just like a wild animal they will show everything they got and it won't be pretty," says Yun remembering how many people he had to treat back then.

They continued moving forward when more arrows begin to fall to the ground or get deflected by their shields as they approached the gate when they almost reached it they heard a different sound as something clashed against their shields.

"They are beginning to use rocks," says Dian Wei literally feeling the desperation of the people of Pingyuan.

"Don't get distracted," says Yun as they continued to push forward when they finally reached the wall.

They now lifted the shields up since they were hugging the wall while marching toward the gate. Once at the gate, they tried to open it without success when Yun takes his spear and aims at the slit between the gates before putting the tip of his spear in it.

He then circulated Qi while saying, "Get ready to storm the city once I give the order."

The soldiers were waiting for Yun's order as he circulated the Qi into the tip of his spear before shouting, "Now!"

The gate breaks open from Yun overpowering it with his Qi before the soldiers rush into the city. The enemy was surprised to see the broken gate and the soldiers storming them immediately as the first few soldiers near the gate fell without being able to defend themselves because they hadn't recovered quickly enough.

Yun rushed in as well joining his soldiers in this slaughter as they split up with Yun sending Zhang He up the wall to take the people on the wall as prisoners with half of the group while Yun continued to move forward with the other half.

Yun was covered in blood as he had two corpses pierced by his spear when he drops the spear and grabs an enemy soldier who was in a panic before shouting at him, "Where is your commander?!"

Yun wanted to finish this battle as fast as possible since they needed to continue to march north toward Nanpi since it was the next major city to the north. The enemy soldier was struck in fear as he saw Yun's bloody face.

Yun saw that he wouldn't get an answer so he let go of the enemy and used his shield to end his life before grasping his spear again. He pushed the corpse of his spear with his foot before throwing it at an enemy soldier who was about to attack one of his soldiers from behind impaling him on the ground.

Yun then lifted his shield without looking in the direction a sword was coming for him. He blocked the attack before grabbing the sword which was sheathed on the inside of the shield and he deviated from the path of the enemy sword and soldier to his left while piercing the enemy soldier with the sword in his hand.

Yun looks around and roars in anger since it seemed that the enemy commander abandoned the battlefield even before the battle even began.

The slaughter continued until all the soldiers near the south gate lay dead on the ground and Yun ordered one of the banner carriers to place the Zhao banner on the south wall which would show that it was safe for the army to approach the south gate.

"Do we wait for the main army?" asks Dian Wei as Yun took a sip of water which was mixed with blood.

"No, we continue moving to the east gate and help Lu Bu clear the area," says Yun coldly feeling fury for the enemy commander who left the battlefield abandoning his duty to save his head from rolling today.

"Leave the wounded behind they should inform the army of our next move while they get treated," says Yun as he sheaths his sword again while going for his spear which was still holding the dead soldier standing slightly bent backward but still standing.

Yun pulled his spear out before ordering the soldiers who were still able to fight to follow him while he left Zhang He and his group behind since they needed to look after the people that surrendered on the wall.

They rushed first to the center of the city before moving east hearing people fighting in the distance as they arrived they saw Gao Shun and his unit break through the gates easily while fighting the enemy that was defending the gates.

Gao Shun was surprised to see Yun and his small army coming from the opposite direction but he was grateful since they would deal with this situation faster with his help.

They pincered the enemy giving them no leeway to retreat when Yun looks at Dian Wei and commands him to help Gao Shun take the wall while he goes alone toward the north gate since Wei Yan should have already dealt with the situation there and even if not he would encounter the main army on his way there and regroup with Pang Tong and the others.

Dian Wei was stubborn in not wanting to follow that command since he is Yun's protector but once he saw a big horse coming their way he agreed since it meant that the main force was near.

Yun saw Thunder and now knew why Dian Wei gave up on following him. He petted the horse's head once it was near before mounting it.

"Thunder, get us to the north gate as fast as possible," says Yun as he takes the reigns before Thunder turns around to ride in the direction he came from.

Yun soon found Hua with his cavalry army coming his way and Hua saw his brother making him slow as well as the army that was following him. Thunder also slowed down for a bit so Yun could talk with Hua.

"We are going toward the north gate. The east gate is secured and Lu Bu should soon enter the city as well with his army," says Yun to Hua telling him only where he was going next making his younger brother and his army follow him.

Wei Yan, on the other hand, was holding one of the enemy soldiers by the throat while the spear he was holding had four corpses hanging from it standing over a small hill of corpses this all intimidated the enemy soldiers to surrender to him making his side of the battlefield the simplest of the three.

Wei Yan let go of the soldier showing mercy as he turns to Zhuge Liang and Guo Jia and he says, "Guo Jia, your strategy was perfect. It is no wonder that my brother-in-law healed you. You are a great asset to his army."

"It wasn't my strategy alone, General Wei. I think that you two really need to lay down your fight and become friends since you and strategist Zhuge Liang aren't that different from each other," says Guo Jia trying to make peace between Zhuge Liang and Wei Yan.

"I am no brute!/coward!" shout both, Zhuge Liang and Wei Yan, at the same time in Guo Jia's face when they see a cavalry army approaching which could only be Hua's army.

"If you both just could see yourself right now as I do you both you would agree with me just swallow your pride of each of you and try to acknowledge each other's talent and work with each other for the sake of our Lord. You two don't have to be friends. You just have to be able to work together," says Guo Jia suggesting it since it would relieve Yun from a lot of trouble if they could work together without causing any trouble for him.

Yun approached them and sees that Wei Yan and Zhuge Liang were on it again which made him sigh before he dismounted his horse.

"Why can't you just work together like everyone else once in a while? It's not like you have to see each other every day once this campaign is over," says Yun trying to sound funny which passed them completely when Yun says, "Thank you, Guo Jia, for keeping them together for this battle."

"Of course, my Lord. I would do it again if you asked it of me," says Guo Jia seriously while hoping that he wouldn't have to deal with the two of them again.

Guo Jia would rather spar against Yun and be tortured by him than to deal with this duo again when he hears, "Good to hear that. You will be in charge of Wei Yan and Zhuge Liang until this campaign is over."

"My Lord?" asks Guo Jia helplessly as he looked at Yun with his eyes full of pity trying to plea to Yun to take him away but Yun only smiled at him with pity as well.

'Oh, Guo Jia, you are the best one to deal with this situation and I am really sorry for what baggage I placed on you,' thinks Yun before leaving to deal with the aftermath of taking Pingyuan.

Hope you like it.
