A Change

Did he die? If he did, why is he back in Michael's car? What happened? If it was a very real hallucination then how did he know what house they were going to, even though it is his first time here? Was he crazy?

A million thoughts were running through Jai's head. A knocking sound scared him, making him jump up. "Dude, do you need me to escort you out of my car, miss princess." Michael said jokingly. It was just Michael knocking on his window. Jai muddled an affirmative and opened the door and began to follow Michael towards the house.

Michael stood in front of the car waiting. "Jai dude, what's up? Come on I'll introduce you to some new friends and we will go party. Stop worrying about school and relax. We got four more years of stressing out. Take the night off and enjoy."

Jai brightened up, "Yeah you're right, lets go"

"Now that's more like it. Anymore pouting and I'll drop you off at home and tell everyone at the party that you had diarrhea and wasted your pants." Michael stated as he turned around heading towards the front door.

"Pch, you're the one that wasted your pants." Then Jai sped up to walk in-line with Michael.

Jai might not have been thinking about school, but he would let nature take it's course. He was here now and he would worry about the other stuff later. Its' not like he felt anything when he "died" and nothing seemed to have changed about him. Jai would rather forget that all that happened than ponder about it endlessly.

The both of them walked to the door of a standard, suburban house. The normal green, clean-cut lawn was vibrant compared to the white-wash picket fence. It matched all of the other houses and the only difference was the Halloween decorations. There were gravestones on the lawn and pumpkins on the porch. A silly scarecrow was lying on a chair close to the door and the moment Jai saw it, a smirk appeared on his face.

If he remembered correctly, the previous time, the both of them had a start because the scarecrow had a motion sensor and would sprang up. Nothing new, but still to the man unaware it would still get the heart racing.

So, Jai reached over to Michael's back and gave him a push towards the scarecrow saying, "Well lets hurry it up then." All the while watching Michael in schadenfreude.

Michael, non the wiser, responded, "Yea, yea. We are alreadee!" As he stumbled in front of the scarecrow, it stood up in one motion, waving its' hands asking, "Who goes there?" Michael cut his sentence short with a screech and jumped a half-step back. Jai was laughing behind him.

Michael put his hand on his heart and with an embarrassing chuckle went, "Haha, damn think got me good. All right you had your laugh. Now be warned, I'll get you back before the night is over if you keep laughing on."

Jai stopped himself, "Yea dude, all's fun and games dude." Copying Michael's usual mannerisms and emphasizing the word dude.

"Ha, well you better be careful then." Michael stated with a smile and walked past the scarecrow. He rang the doorbell on the side and looked at the scarecrow settle back down after completing its' programming. Looking from the side it wasn't that scary of a prop. However, the suddenness and while Michael was mid sentence, gave him a small fright.

After Jai was done laughing he felt calmer. Even if he thought he shouldn't think about what happened previously and his "first death," he would still be a shocked. He still has lingering thoughts about it, but he might as well have some fun along the way.

The door opened after a few seconds and Jai got a good look at the guy, who he last saw without half a neck and dying on the living room floor.

"Hey, you guys are here." The man at the door said, making way for them to enter. "Just sit down for a bit. Let me finish this sequence and I'll test the program tomorrow. Oh. By the way, this is my sister's place so leave your shoes by the door. I'm just staying till I find my own place or look into one of the dorms. I know they gave us dorms, but...."

Michael and Jai removed their shoes and walked in as the guy babbled on and on. "If I had to listen to this guy 24/7 then I'd probably try to get him to stop too. I probably wouldn't kill him though. Probably." Jai thought to himself. Looking around he felt something was off from what he remembered. He might have only been here shortly before his "first death," but something was different. Jai's eyes drifted from the middle of the carpet, imagining the guy's body there, to where the other guy was originally leaning against the wall.

"Huh?" Jai wondered, "Where is the other guy?" As he asked the question he could hear someone turn on the shower from another part of the house. "He is showering? Here?"

"No. Lol, man. Aren't we picking him up?" The guy looked up from the laptop on the side table and glanced at them, then looked back down. All the while still typing away. He didn't even wait for Michael to answer the question when he continued. "The one showering is probably my sister. She off-handedly mentioned to me earlier, that she was going to a party herself. So she is probably getting ready. I didn't ask her where her party is, but..."

"This guy can go on and on. Where does he get the energy. Wait" As Jai was thinking about what the guy just said, he came to a revelation. The slurping guy isn't here, and also sister? There was no sister previously right? Jai's thoughts were wandering as his eyes were wandering as he realized what was off. The decorations of the house wasn't the simple style he saw before when he entered. There was a subtle female touch in decorum.

The situation changed.

However, as Jai was getting his bearings he had a good thought. "If Mr. Blood-eyes isn't here then non-stop babble over there, probably won't die. So I won't die. Must have been a hallucination yea. The scarecrow was just a coincidence. Right?"
