Death God's System

You do not trust a man who has nothing to lose. Jester, the god of death and misery goes back in time to take revenge against his previous reincarnation. Keiren Astaroth finds himself at death's door, forced to pay for sins he did not commit. The seven races fought for a throne, the highest seat in the universe. Trapped in the future, Keiren must live as Caedes Volkov, someone the 7 races want dead. If that wasn't enough? Keiren Astaroth was the son of Ifrit, the first primordial. He was the rightful heir to what Jester was essentially stripped of. The Forgotten Throne. *** The ML will not just wake up and be oh so the devourer of worlds or anything as such. So please don't expect him to get his powers in the starting chapters. He'll grow, develop, and only then will he realize his purpose in the world. The purpose of Caedes Volkov. Would request the readers to read the first 10 chapters before dropping the book since the main story starts at chapter 8 itself. The first 7 chapters are the prologue and just an overview about the world. [Webnovel Spirity Awards 2024 Entry] 15 Power stones = 1 bonus chapter The cover is not mine, if the owner wants, I'll remove it.

The son of chaos

"Huh? Where am I? What is this place!" Keiren exclaimed, he remembered going to his room, changing his clothes before everything blacked out.

A voice rang inside his head

"I wasn't keen on doing it this early but when was fate on my side anyways~"

'I wish I was even half as blessed as him.'

Memories of what he had forgotten were drilled back into his brain.

"Why am I here again?" Kei asked, still confused.

"You died, yet again." If the old voice had a form, it would surely be slapping the boy's head right now. How can Kaal, the son of chaos itself, be reduced to this state?" The voice asked, sighing out loud.

"The fuck? I am wha-"

"I would love to entertain you but seems like someone has better plans. Hehehe." A creepy laughter echoed through the walls of the throne hall.

Everything blanked out as Kei's consciousness was transported back to his body.

Aanya had just entered the room when Keiren's eyes opened. He instantly sat up while trying to hold his head.

"Aanya? Where are we?"

"Keiren! You are finally awake. Did you know how worried I was!"

"I am sorry for troubling you, but I would love to know what happened to me too." The boy returned a sheepish smile, embarrassed. His memories of how he had stupidly tried to kill himself returning to him.

"Can you please tell me how I ended up in a hospital from trying to get ready for a party?"

Aanya told the boy how he went missing and everything, only leaving the part where he died.

She explained to him that someone kidnapped him in a forest outside the city, where he was rescued by his sister's friends.

"A forest? I have never seen one anywhere around our city. Aanya sis, can you tell me more about the forest I was kidnapped in?"

"My little brother, what you know is just the tip of the iceberg. Although we live in a city called Nia, however, it is not all there is to this world.

In the year 0003,

When some selected people started awakening their souls, we found out that every person having a certain amount of mana in their body has a chance to awaken their soul. Since then, humans have been trying to be recognized as one of the 7 masters of this universe. It was around 0037, when we were officially recognized as one of them.

Even I came here only to select students. The divine sky sect resides in the 7th realm."

"7th realm?" Asked Kei

"Yes, there are 7 realms and each realm has a different species of living beings inhabiting them.

These realms are:

Devil's realm

Vampire's realm

Beast's realm

Dwarves realm

Werewolves realm

Elf's realm

Human's realm

The divine sky sect is a multi-species sect to b-"

All of a sudden, Aanya hugged the boy, her actions a frenzy.

"I love yo…"

Boom!!

Before she could even complete her sentence, The building exploded into pieces.

Keiren Astaroth found himself in the same hall, a throne in front of him. It meant only one thing, he was dead.

But that wasn't what Kei was afraid of.

"Ahhh!" The boy screamed as loud as he could, his eyes turned red, and tears ran down his cheeks. He yelled, wailed, sobbed, shrieked, and wept for hours. It was his sister damn-it!

"Is she alive?" He asked the old voice, his tone devoid of emotions.

"Nope, she is dead."

"I'm kaal, right? THE SON OF CHAOS!

You said it yourself. Is there any way to save her life? Please, I beg you. I am ready to sacrifice anything in exchange for her! Please…

I can't lose her too-"

"You know that's impossible. I used all my powers to save your soul from being destroyed a while back. That damn kidnapper! It's all his fault."

"Is there no way?" Exclaimed Keiren, he was desperate. He would do anything to save his sister. Anything.

"Although You cannot revive her, my powers can still allow you to talk to her...Only if you allow me to consume your lifespan.

If you choose to do that, however, you may die as I'll be sucking onto your life energy to keep her soul here."

"But I can just revive after that, can't I?" Kei asked in an hurry

"That's the problem. Your body was destroyed in that blast. You may be physically immortal but your soul isn't. So any damage I do right now will directly affect your soul."

"If that can make me talk to my sister even for a minute then I accept!"

"Ok then. Never forget. You trusted me." Even though the old voice sounded eerily weird, Keiren was in no mood to care.

Nodding, he waited for the unknown being to start the ritual.

After a few moments, the boy felt his bones snap, his skin and hair burn, and his muscles shred.

"I must get through!" He spoke while wiggling in various positions to alleviate the agony.

A few seconds stretched into minutes, then hours, and then, after what felt like an eternity, the pain began to subside.

"Is that you, big sis Aanya?" Keiren's vision was hazy, but he could never not recognize his sister.

He dragged his feet towards his sister and hugged her tightly.

"Kei? Is that you? How am I alive, didn't I die?" The girl asked the boy who was in her embrace.

The boy's hazel eyes were watery, "Please stop asking these questions, we don't have much time. Just let me see you for one last time," said Keiren, his voice hoarse.

"I understand. What was the price you gave? " Aanya asked, completely unaware of what a big mistake his brother had made by letting the old voice consume his life force.

"How did you know?" Asked Keiren with a face full of surprise

"I knew that you can revive 'n' number of times. I just linked that and the reason why I'm here. You must have done something to get me standing in front of you. " She said.

Suppressing his shock, Kei continued

"What if I told you that I have sacrificed my heavenly physique?"

There was a long silence before the girl asked "Why? Why did you do all that just to talk to me? WHY!"

Aanya was filled with regret, her brother sacrificed his opportunity to become one of the strongest beings in the 7 heavens!

"Why did you try to save me when you knew I would just revive?!" Aman screamed, he was hurt.

"I-"

The room was filled with silence. Aanya tried answering his question but found herself unable to. She didn't know how to explain it to him. She just couldn't see her brother getting hurt.

The two stood there, in front of each other. Aanya knew, since his parents had gone missing, all Kei ever wanted was to grow stronger. He always desired strength, and power. The boy couldn't handle being unable to protect his family. First his parents and now? Even his sister was dying. The last remaining person that he loved-

Time continued to pass.

1 minute

2 minutes

3 minutes

4 minutes

It was then that Aanya's body started fading, it was time.

"Always remember this, Keiren. No matter who you are or where you will be. You shall live like the king I always wanted you to be. With. Or without these powers."

The boy tried to get a hold of her, touch her, feel her, something. She was dead and the worst part? He was never going to see her again.

"Noooo! Just a little longer. Just stay with me for a bit more!" Keiren begged, his voice cracking. And just like that, she was gone.

A random spell of giggling was heard, "It seems we have more in common than I thought."

If only Keiren knew of the abomination this voice was. And guess what? His destiny or luck wasn't going to save him this time. After all, it was him against him.
