CHAPTER TWELVE: VISIT TO OLYMPUS

Meanwhile in the divine realm, where gods dwell, Olympus.

Jonathan stood before the gates of Olympus, his heart pounding with fear, as he would soon be in front of the gods. He straightened his shoulders, reminding himself that he was chosen by the gods themselves for this mission.

With a surge of determination, Jonathan stepped forward, his footsteps echoing through the throne room. The air felt charged with energy, swirling around him in an invisible dance. As he entered the magnificent hall, a sense of reverence surrounded him overwhelmingly.

At the far end of the temple, sitting on the golden thrones, sat Zeus on the right and Poseidon on the left, the rulers of Olympus, but on the further left was an empty throne which was for Hades the god of the underworld but for some reason was not invited for this meeting. Other gods also sat there, their presence commanded respect, their expressions a mix of curiosity and authority. Jonathan approached, feeling small compared to the immense power emanating from the gods.

With a bow, Jonathan spoke, his voice echoing through the halls of the throne room,

"Great Zeus, Poseidon and gods, I stand before you as your humble servant. I have returned with reports."

Zeus, with his hair and beard of lightning, leaned forward, his eyes sparkling.

"Tell us, Jonathan, what have you discovered? Are there mortals with the blood of a god in them? as we had suspected?" Zeus asked,

Jonathan cleared his throat, trembling at the sound of his voice,

"Great Zeus, I have witnessed miracles, struggles and strange occurrences within the walls of the human world. The demigods, children born of both mortal and divine lineage, I am not sure of, but I bring news of a human who does extraordinary things" Jonathan responded,

The gods exchanged glances with each other, their interest piqued. Poseidon's voice resonated with a deep, soothing timbre.

"We sure had sensed their presence, but what have you seen, Jonathan?" Poseidon asked further,

Jonathan raised his head with a little confidence and replied,

"I don't have a full idea of who she really is, but there is a mortal who goes against death itself. She possesses extraordinary powers that help her save people from death's grip. She works as a doctor and is quite knowledgeable of the human body"

Zeus leaned back on his throne, his fingers intertwining in thought,

"Hmm! Interesting, what's this mortal's name?" Zeus inquired,

" Riona, my lord. She is a doctor, " Jonathan responded.

After Apollo the god of good health and foresight heard the name being called, his eyes brightened up and he became very restless but this restlessness was unnoticed by the other gods.

" A doctor you say?" Zeus responded while he had a smirk on his face,

" That is interesting, go back into the mortal realm and investigate further Jonathan," Zeus added,

" Yes! Mighty Zeus" Jonathan responded, standing up and leaving the room.

After Jonathan had departed, the gods discussed amongst each other.

********

A Long time ago, the gods had gathered in the council to discuss their involvement with the mortal realm.

For centuries, the gods had indulged in earthly pleasures, transcending the bounds of their divine existence to mate with mortals, producing offspring who carried the blood of both worlds known as demi~gods. But as time passed, they realized that this mingling of bloodlines came at a great cost, their existence was threatened by these demigods over and over again.

The gods held a vote and unanimously decided that they would no longer meet with humans. They feared that their offspring would become too powerful or potentially lead to their own downfall.

Hades, the king of the underworld moved the motion.

"Brothers and sisters, we have to agree on this one. While it is true that our children are magnificent, they cause too much chaos and destruction. It is time for us to fully invest in Olympus and tend our affairs here. The mortal realm has had enough of our meddling. Let us not interfere with their daily lives any further."

The other gods nodded in agreement, their expressions spoke otherwise as they contemplated the weight of their decision, but they were hell-bent on protecting their existence.

With the decision made, the gods solemnly vowed to never again indulge in earthly pleasures, and to never sire another demigod. They sealed themselves out of going to the mortal realm and only interfered when necessary.

For centuries, the gods kept their vow, content in their own realm, keeping a watchful eye upon mortals and their world from afar. But over time some of the gods went against their decision, not all of the gods adhered to their solemn vow.
