Chapter 1 Memories

It was a new summer morning. Alex turned her back to the window still in her sleep. She woke up to the sound of her alarm clock and her eyes twinkled. "Oh.... Finally morning!" she said with a smile. She left her room and went downstairs only to notice a note that was on the kitchen counter from her mom saying, "Grab yourself some breakfast and lunch from the fridge. I'm out for the weekend!". Alex sighed as she knew she couldn't do anything about it.

It was the summer break so she quickly went to her room, freshened up and knocked on her twin sister, Alexi's door just to find out she had left home to her friend, Mei's place for the day. Again, Alex sighed and went to the basement, took a seat and switched on the TV to watch a movie. In a scene, the protagonist was Celebrating her 16th birthday and her mother surprised her with gifts and a party, 'Happy Birthday Sweetie!', 'Thanks Mom. I love you!'.

Alex screamed. She just remembered her birthday was tomorrow and her mom didn't get her any gifts or planned a party for her. "I wish I had a caring mom" she said and sobbed her heart out remembering her father's plans for her 16th birthday. If her father hadn't died, she would have been surprised by him and his gifts for her, shopping sprees and all teen stuff.

Minutes later, she heard her phone ring, "Buzz.....Buzz...." then proceeded to take the call. "Hello?" she said with a cold voice and the caller responded, "Alex?! I've missed you!".

"Is this.... Gabbie?" she said with an anxious voice. "Yes! I've missed you since middle school and all the memories we made".

'Hmm.... Memories....'
