Hard Lesson

Zane remained in the car even after the door had been opened. His eyes followed the flame flicking from the lighter. He knew what to expect but, a small part of couldn't believe that his father would actually go this far. How he managed to do it was the question.

For a brief moment, Zane felt like he couldn't breathe and his body felt cold as ice. If he closed his eyes, he felt certain his conscious would feel like a balloon floating away from his body. A very foreign sensation for someone so used to being so in control of everything. In the same instance, the feeling passed and something changed within Zane. One thought changed everything for him. His face became a blank slate as he closed the lighter and pocketed it before he stepped out.

"So father, was this your plan all along? You put everything together to get to this point?" Zane knew what to expect and remained by the car to see what his father would do.
