Thirty minutes and he hadn't yet broken anything. Not to say Zane wasn't close at times. He just didn't want to give his father that pleasure.
He did make sure that Rose didn't have to say or answer anything that she didn't want. She didn't owe his father anything nor would she ever.
"You don't have to worry about doing this again after tonight." He'd assured her once they'd gotten there. He'd still be keeping his end of the deal though.
"There was a question that I wanted to ask you. I don't think that I will have the time to do that right now."
"Don't hang up because I have a few questions of my own that I want to ask." The young mafioso told the other who went quiet again.
"Are you going to stay on the other line or hang up like you did last time?" Zane filled the glass with bourbon. No meetings that morning meant that he could take the time to drink without anything to worry about.
