The Letters

Soon Alice got Arlo's letter when she saw the sunset picture. "Dear Alice, I am sorry I am not good at this. I am also doing well, as a man in the military can be sucked in Bagdad. Thank you for your letter. I also hope you are in good health and classes are going well. The picture you asked for inside. Hopes it came out well. Also, you are as pretty as the sunset last night. Love Arlo Steven Maddox." Alice blushes a smaller picture falls out. It was of him and the sunset. She smiles. "Don't look so mean in this picture," she said. She wanted to give him something but was unsure what. She was weighing her letter when Stephanie rushed up. "My guy sent me his letter, apparently; he just got out of a relationship," she said. Alice rolled her eyes. "Stephanie, please think about this," she said and mailed off the letter. "But if I want to date him, I can," Stephanie said. "That isn't what I am saying. Military men rush. He will ask you to marry him in a week so that you get the health insurance and a home for when he leaves, so please don't rush into anything," Alice said. Alice calls her father about getting better food or something for his squad. "Dad, they are fighting for us. They need basic needs," she told him. "Alice, just because I work for the government doesn't mean I can just send help just because you're getting all in your feelings due to class work," Alice's father said. Alice hung up the phone and sighed. "Arlo letter," James said and handed it to him. Arlo puts his music down and opens it. "Dear Arlo, I loved the pictures. You look so peaceful in them. I was worried you would be mean due to the picture they used for you, but so far, you seem down to earth, which makes me happy. Is there anything you would like?
