Chapter 30

Kiko debated moving forward to intervene, but he held a cup in either hand and it would mean he’d need to shoot next, which seemed like a bad idea, even if he cared to hold a gun anytime soon. Martha knew he and Dom were together. She would likely only get angrier if he started questioning her next. He stood where he was and waited.

After a tense few minutes Dom turned around and made his way back to Kiko. Martha did not shoot him in the back; instead she ignored him and passed the rifle to the next person up.

“Nice face,” said Dom, offering a teasing grin and taking his beer back.

“That wasn’t the smartest thing you’ve ever done,” said Kiko.

Dom leaned in close to his ear. “I thought you were supposed to be making sure I didn’t do stupid shit. Mind distracted?”

Kiko ignored him. Of course Dom was making poor judgment calls and horny all at once. The loosening of inhibitions always made him more himself.

“What did you say to her?”
