CHAPTER 3

The ocean was calm as the waves gently played with the ship as it sailed . The sun shone bright above as I looked forward at the ocean that seemed like it had no end . The deep blue waves were easing to look at .

I held the compass that hung on my neck. It was a gift from my mother . Both me and my brother had recieved one when we were small . I opened it and looked at the needle that pointed towards north , which indicated that we are indeed on the right path .

Emlyn was standing a bit far away drawing a map . She decided it would be safe to trace the map on another paper incase something bad happens to the original one . I must admit , I think its pretty intelligent of her to do that .

Our destination happens to be in the kingdom of Cian , a place that we have not really visited before. The truth is that I am a bit nervous , scratch that , a lot nervous and I knew that Emlyn and Amia was as well. The only comfort we had was that there was a man who knew father lived in Cian and he was more than happy to help us. According to father , this man knows a lot more about these demons and the first kings compared to father and many others father had met . Father had visited a lot of people to know more about this last demon who is still trapped and most of them , do not have a lot of knowledge about it. The moment we reach Cian , we have to find where he is , because he would not come to visit us at the port insted he would be preparing for our journey.

Blue Moon was sailing in it full glory as the wind pushed it forward . I walked towards the stern as Amia now walked to occupy my position . We had to keep on shifting our positions due to not having more crew and it was honestly getting a bit annoying. I regret telling father that we would do this without the help of anyone else .

An obstacle that we are a bit afraid of currently are the pirates and ice bergs. Pirates don't play by the rules majority of the time and that makes them dangerous , so we had kept the gun decks completely loaded . All our weapons were kept ready as well . We have been planning to practice fighting more . Also adding on as a dangerous fact we don't have any one to be constantly on the high of the main mast . The chances of us having contact with an ice berg is rare , but never zero , besides , travelling at night even if there are no ice bergs is dangerous due to pirates and we most probably would have to dock the ship at night and Amia has been listing the places that would be safe for us .

The truth is , no place is safe . We are just searching for a place that is not currently in between a war or is marked for a war the day we reach there . The only good thing the kings did for each other , was they never announced a sudden war . They didn't want to seem like they were powerless as they attacked a kingdom when they were not prepared . The kings wanted to see who was more powerful among them when they were fully prepared.

I looked at the girl who was walking towards me . Amia was shorter than me . She had jet black hair that was tied into a pony tail . Her skin was milky white and her eyes were big. She is also one of the soldiers of Constance . She was most probably two months older than me , but compared to me , she was a lot more matured and wise .

All three of us are of the same age and that helps us connect with each other more . I walked past her as she smiled at me . She always had a warm , approachable face , while I had a not so approachable one . Emlyn had a fifty - fifty face , she was in between of looking approachable and unapproachable.

I walked towards the stern and held the long arm that was extended from the top of the rudder . I held onto the tiller as I slowly turned it as Amia told me about how much it should be turned . I noticed Emlyn walking back inside . She must have completed drawing . Soon she came out and went to take her position on the high of the main mast .

I looked at the sails that were hoist . They always radiated a magnificent feel , no matter which the ship was . I let out a hiss as I felt the heat . I adjusted my hat and sleeves reducing the chances of getting sun burned .

I could hear Emlyn asking Amia about the nearest safe ports , as the sun was starting to set .

The Blue Moon is currently a ship in disguise as the symbol of a blue moon was covered and Constance's flag was removed . Our armor was kept hidden as well . Our disguise was travellers learning more about the sea and that definitely was not the best idea you could come up with. Not wearing any of the royal clothings helped us to stay in character more . There were cut marks already on our skin , which made it a bit more believable.

Kings have always favoured travellers as they knew they could get more information about other kingdoms . Ofcourse the question about how three ladies have a ship to themselves would arise and I was prepared to answer .

A lot of kings gift travellers and some gift , ships and we were lucky enough to be one of those new travellers . The trick was to tell the name of a kingdom very far away and currently non existing .

Kings don't spend a lot of their resources in finding about very distant kingdoms . The only rough part about this , was getting them to believe . If they don't believe us , we are definitely going to be in trouble and none of us really want it . If I blow my cover as the princess and Emlyn and Amia blow their cover of being soldiers , Constance would get a new kingdom against them and probably our dead bodies along as well .

I walked from the stern towards the main mast as Emlyn came to fill my position . Reaching where I wanted to . I sat there , with a pair of binoculars in my hands. The wind was strong up here as I tied my hair , which was getting in my mouth. The view ahead was the far stretching ocean . I could see birds flying in a distance . I didn't dare to look any higher as the scorching sun stared down at me .

I kept the binoculars close to me eyes and looked further to see signs of land . Emlyn was the one currently with the tiller as Amia was yelling directions . I turned my focus back into the binoculars and looked at the view in front of me only to scream ,

" LAND AHEAD ".
