Chapter 43: The Lioness's Fury
(Beth’s POV)
A petrified scream leaves my lips and I shove the gun behind me to hide it from view. I’m not sure what part of my brain insisted that it is a good idea, but I’ll listen. What’s the worst thing that can come out of this situation?
Rocco turns to look at me and grins, multiple teeth missing, “There’s the star of the show. You’re the reason your boyfriend is in this mess to begin with.” He holds out his arms as if he’s greeting a long-lost family member. He doesn’t even seem to care that three of his men just dropped dead and are bleeding out on the airplane carpet.
“Anthony, my boy, go tell your pilot to get this bird in the air or I’ll harm your girl,” Rocco says, winking at me.
I gag and cringe as he starts toward me. Griffin stands in front of me and shoves Rocco away.
