|NOVEL UNDER RECONSTRUCTION. DO NOT READ YET| "It was never a bright idea to deceive a vampire. Yet, she did it anyway." Human enslavement at the hands of vampires has been long abolished... for the most part. The two races now live in different regions and keep to themselves. But when Hiln falls on hard times, she masks as a lower ranking vamp and finds herself working within the castle walls of the highest ranking vampire nobles. Things seem to go well until Hiln unknowingly catches the attention of one of these Lords. And nothing will prepare her for the desire and chaos that is to follow. Dana had been testy with me lately. Nothing new. It was how she behaved each and every time I 'misbehaved'. And with me making the girl a monarch, it grated her gears. She had worn a sour expression when I requested her assistance, and now, as she stood still beside me in her chambers, her face was a haunted mask of pure disbelief and horror.
"Venti, did you…?" she breathed, unable to finish her words as her fingers clamped tight on my shoulder.
"I did. I am not deaf and I can hear very well, thank you," I clipped and then cupped my jaw, my muscles tense as I stared out the window, watching the smoky swirls intertwining with the clouds from the remnants of the fire that had stopped burning.
"It appears we are fucked," Dana said with a sigh, turning away from the view and retreating to her bed.
