A MOMENT WITH MOTHER

(POV Lijah)

I went down for dinner. As usual, it was me, Leah and Aunt.

" There's an educational kids show now. I think I should watch it." Leah spoke as she took her plate and got up from the chair to move to the couch.

"Sit back Leah. We have discussed about this. No TV while eating." Aunt scolded.

She sat back and here it goes, ' the fake tears'.

"Did uncle eat?" I asked.

"Ya, he did. He is probably snoring right now."

After washing the dishes, I headed up to my room to sleep. Was I tensed? No!

Because I was sure of one thing, Amanda is not going to get hurt or suffer, as long as I am here.

It's not a stupid cliché line, it's my word, carved out from within. I opened the door and called Leah.

" What is it? I have a long 'sleeping' to do." She screamed her lungs out from the room.

"It's urgent, come up." I screamed back.

She came upstairs with a big red face and asked, "What?"

"Do you want to sleep in here today?" I asked.

"What??"

She looked shocked and happy at the same time. Her eyes almost fell out.

"Oooookkk" She lengthened the word and ran into my room, and threw herself on the bed.

" Hehe, my bed is more comfortable." She murmured.

I switched off the lights and laid on the bed. Leah turned to the other side and hugged her pillow.

I turned and hugged her gently. A wave of memory hit me out of nowhere. I remembered all four of us sleeping peacefully together, hugging each other and cuddling.

I closed my eyes and fell asleep the next second. It felt like hugging mom, the warmth radiated by her hug.
