Chapter 22

The small creature on Tais back started climbing the pillar where it climbed onto a metal beam making its way over to the infected corpses handing above them, Tai traded Sydney the UMP-45 for her AK-47 with the scope.

Tai takes shots hitting each head on the twelve clickers as their bodies thumped against the floor, when the large Tail of the monster slithered over as the hands grabbed ahold of the bodies fusing them to it as it slithered back to the large mass.

" we need to hurry up to find a cure to stop these things" Tai said as Sydney stared at her then looked over to the blob.

" we will and also we'll need to take care of this thing later after getting some stuff from these labs that our group needs also the supplies this place has " Tai said as she watches the small creature scurry down the wall of the door by the door frame while looking around the corner.

" what's with that guy " Tai said finding the creature cute but is disgusted by the other things, Sydney smiled caressing Tai's cheek when some liquid trickled down on Tais shoulder seeing the two torso thing above them on the pillar with the half of body that was shot in its head bent over while the other half was above Tais head.

Right when the creature went to bite Tai, Sydney used her forearm to take the bite instead of Tai and Tais eyes went wide pulling out her tactical knife plunging it into the things eye to the hilt letting its body hit the floor.

Tai grabbed Sydney's arm looking at the deep teeth marks and pulled a small pouch from her pouch on her vest pouring the contents over the wound then wrapping it with Gauze while furrowing her brows in anger grabbing Sydney's cheeks with both hands.

" why did you do that...You should have let it bite me instead " Tai said as her body was shaking with fear and anger, she looked back to the door and back to Sydney pulling her behind her while running toward the door slipping the key card inside making a beeping noise as the door slid open.

Tai quickly closed the door as the steel door dented from the weight and force that thing slammed into it with, she looked around seeing crates and drums littering the room there now inside.

" does it hurt...do you feel funny " Tai asked holding Sydney's arm, the girl shakes her head no then smiles softly at Tai before kissing her lovingly.

Tai reciprocated the kiss then remembered the radio show she gets on it contacting Calista who immediately answered with an angry voice.

" I've been sitting here locked inside this armory worried to death and Ricky hasn't come back yet " Calista said over the radio, Tai looked at Sydney holding her hand.

" he's fine I'll let you both out when I come back, I need you to get on channel 617.9 and contact Hina to tell her about this place and to bring vehicles for the supplies here and also warn them about those infected that fuse other corpses to their bodies all over the place to bring some heavy fire power with them " Tai said waiting for Calistas response looking down at her watch seeing that it was already eleven at night, she sighs then gets back on the radio with a sad look on her face.

" tell them that I love them to not leave until daylight and to not take any chances that'll put them in danger, Calista I love you too and it might take me a little while to get to you " Tai said looking down at the bite mark on Sydney's arm, she knows with these things that a person turns quicker than a normal infected bite does and plans to stay by Sydney's side until the end.

" Tai are you ok, Are you hurt...just come and get me so I can help you, you don't need to do this alone... I love you" Calista said over the radio as Tai puts it back in her vest pocket as she takes it off to take her long sleeve off for Sydney to wear.

Sydney was putting back on her vest after putting the long sleeve on, she smelled the collar then smiled while placing her hand on her stomach and Tai watched her smiling at her.

(" even if she was it's too late now ") Tai thought, hugging Sydney kissing her forehead while placing her forehead against hers, she felt connected to Sydney since the first time seeing her and yes she has already fallen in love with her.

" let's go before that thing is able to get out " Tai said listening to the thing hit the door repeatedly, they reloaded their clips while the small creature took point looking around and sniffing the air.

" those things that chased us before in the elevator I'm not sure how many of them is still alive...I know for sure I killed one of them, what the hell was these people doing down here " Tai said as they was walking the hallway seeing scratch marks on the walls and floors that wasn't there when she first came down.

When they approached one of the holding cell doors it was broken staying half way up while the motor whirled, when Tai unlocked it earlier to the observation room she didn't lock it back and the bottom of the door was bent catching in the track.

Tai held her arm up and the creature was already low to the ground with it's body vibrating, Tai was about to peak inside the room when both Sydney grabbed her arm and the creatures Tail wrapped around her leg holding her back when a low gutteral growl came from inside the room.

Sydney waited for the creature to turn its back letting its black shiny tail that had a similar blade like object with small spikes covering half of it stick out of the room, Sydney went first going around the tail putting her back to the wall on the other side of the door holding her finger up for Tai to wait.

Sydney motioned Tai to cone next but she nudges the small creature watching it slither under the tail going ahead of them, Tai went next when the tail swung almost taking her head off if she didn't dunk when it started swinging.

Sydney gripped her fist watching Tai lay flat on her chest above the tail as it haphazardly swung around above her, She reaches her hand to Tai kneeling down avoiding the tail and pulls Tai over to her then they made their way down the hallway to the elevator where she seen parts of two of the dog like creatures bodies laying in the elevator why the lights flickered on and off with electrical wires hanging and crackling.

Tai looked over at the door marked lab then motioned for Sydney to follow her while the creature jumps on the back of Tais vest holding on while Sydney gives her a confused look as Tai glanced from Sydney's arm back to the lab.

" we need to kill —" Tai whispered to Sydney and she clamped her hand over Tais mouth with wide eyes while looking down the hallway, She shook her head no putting her finger over her lips mouthing no noise.

Tai nodded her head then pointed to the shotgun then to her rifle pointing back where the thing was, Sydney nodded her head with a smile then holds the shotgun while Tai held the AK with both hands pointing it down the hall.

" I love being with you Tai, hopefully you love being with me even if you " Sydney said when the creature ran outside the room hitting itself against the wall then running on all fours toward them, Tai started firing shots off hitting the things head as pieces of it's Exoskeleton was chipping off making Tais eyes go wide at how hard the shell of this beast is.

" Shit fire now " Tai said as Sydney started walking toward the beast as it dig it's claws in the side of the wall running a few steps avoiding their gunfire then landing back on the floor.

Tai emptied her clip at it's head then reloaded while Sydney was making more headway with the shotgun as bigger chunks flew off and Tai reloaded firing at the same spot she's been shooting at, the thing ran up on Sydney swiping it's claw at her as she dunked then it stabbed its tail toward her as she stepped to the side avoiding it while pulling her trigger with the barrel close to its head making it whimper as it took two steps back shaking its head.

" get away from it " Tai said firing her gun at point blank hitting different spots on its head while Sydney kept walking and firing making the beast take a step back with each hit.

Sydney's gun clicked empty as she dropped it by her side pulling out the sword countering its tail thrusts and blocking its claws while she stabbed the sword through the broken spot in its exo-skeleton pushing the sword to its hilt making the beast sway in the spot it was standing then falls to the floor.

" it was pregnant, I bet its pups are in that room " Sydney said staring down at the wolf like beast then placed her hand on her stomach with a sad face, Tai bent down pulling the sword out then taking Sydney by her hand walking over to the lab door using the key card opening the door seeing the most advanced lab she's ever seen.

" what are you looking for exactly " Sydney said walking over to the seven fridges against one of the wall while on the other was twelve freezers.

" maybe they made a cure for when people get infected by theses things " Tai said looking through vials in the first fridge, she seen a few cases that's made to keep these vials cool and safe for transport and each case will hold thirty six small vials or mix and match the small and large vials holding a different number.

" I'll collect one of each, there has to be something that they made to counteract this virus or kill it " Tai said, sliding Vials into the cases.

It was over an hour later Tai had three cases filled and boxes stacked up with files, lab equipment, even a few computers along with modems and a box full of disks along with USBs.

" when the others come I guess they can get what I've missed, more than likely Olivia will come when Calista tells Hina that I found the place " Tai said going into one of the offices sitting down on the couch, she looked back into the lab seeing the little creature curled up on a desk asleep.

" Calista did you get ahold of Hina " Tai said over the radio while Sydney was looking at the family pictures of the person's office they were in and sat down turning the computer in while typing away like a maniac.

" Yes they were actually coming to look for us while going to a scrap yard for spare metal and part to reinforce the vehicles for our trip to the top of the mountain" Calista said bouncing a ball off the wall, she has pulled crates out loading them with Ammo, weapons and other items inside the Armory and she'll need more crates to finish.

" ok I guess give me a couple more hours inside these labs and I'll come get you two out of there " Tai said watching Sydney putting USBs in the modem copying something so she let her do her own thing.

" well I think we need to pick this place clean even if we need more vehicles " Calista said over the radio making Sydney's head snap towards Tai, She smiled widely at what she heard and know there is a garage outback with large Tactical vehicles that can carry all of these items out while having room for any items that they have plus their people.

" ok I love you try to get some rest ok " Tai said, hearing Calista chuckle over the radio then sigh..

" Tai you owe me some alone time so don't forget baby and I love you, please be careful and don't do anything stupid " Calista said giving a kiss at the end then said a soft goodnight to Tai while Sydney was watching Tai.

" what was that big smile for " Tai said since she seen her smile earlier, Sydney got up then walked in front of Tai who opened her legs giving Sydney space between them.
