5 Reactive Adaptability

"Ugghh.."

Several hours later, Alan groggily opened his eyes and quickly sat up, scanning his surroundings with his flawless eyesight, which could still see everything within the radius of a kilometre with immense clarity even though it was now dark.

Turning to look around him, he tried to make sense of the destroyed surroundings for a about a few seconds, before his eyes widened in surprise.

"It's not a dream. Hahaha. I really did kill that dinosaur.."

Instantly rising to his feet, he rushed to the carcass of the beast, but stopped a few meters away. He then picked up the large tree with which he had used to beat the poor animal to its death and used it to poke it for a while.

"I did it. I really did it! Wow. But when did I get this strong?"

He celebrated for a moment and then calmed down, wondering how and when he had grown so powerful. It'd only been about 2 days since he had awoken in this world, and he was now strong enough to face and beat a dinosaur to death.

'Eat first! Think later!'

He rushed to the beast's carcass and grabbed it by the leg and hoisted it onto his shoulders, before he zoomed off into the forest, searching for an unused cave where he could spend the night.

The carcass of the huge beast, if left lying around could attract other beasts which he was not prepared to fight at this moment.

After running for a while, he finally saw a massive hill, and upon further inspection, he noticed that there seemed to be a rather large cave that had been hidden away from prying eyes.

"Let's see if I can do this.."

Taking in a deep breath, he used one hand to hold the beast and hurled himself towards the hill. He then used his free hand the smash into the hill, creating a hold onto it, however before he could even get a foothold, he slipped and fell from that height, and ended up crushing into the ground, together with his dinner.

"That…did not work.."

He groaned in pain and grabbed his back, before he sighed and walked back to the foot of the hill.

'I gotta be fast and nimble like a uhh..a snake.' He thought, but all of a sudden realisation dawned on him as he remembered something crucial. When he got eaten by the snake, the halo as he called it behind his back had rotated.

As he remained in deep thought he failed to notice the cells on his skin entering some sort of cancerous mutation state, as a couple of brown snake like scales appeared on his skin. When he raised his head to sky once more, his pupils had disappeared, being replaced by slits.

"What the hell is happening to me?" Indirectly causing the changes within his body, he could now feel the tendons and muscles in his body contracting and relaxing on subtle command, like a snake. He felt he could stretch and coil far beyond the normal human could.

"Hold on, if that's possible, does that mean that-.." Before his sentence could end, the brown snake scales on his body disappeared, being replaced by a much harder and tougher rocky scales, along with long spikes on his back.

"Okay, this is cool."

He laughed and changed into his snake like form. Toggling between the two forms, he finally gained control over both forms and then enabled his snake form.

'If snakes can crawl on vertical surfaces then why can't I? It shouldn't be that hard.."

He took a step back and readied himself.

The moment he took a step forward, his body was propelled forward like an arrow, and he reached speeds that he never dreamt of going.

He got to the foot of the cliff in an instant, and then hurled himself onto it, and began running atop the cliff, exerting every single

muscle of his body to exert a force that overwhelmed the gravitational pull on his body from the earth.

Upon reaching the cave he jumped right into it and landed with his feet.

Taking deep breaths to calm himself, he laughed in excitement and placed the carcass of the dinosaur on the ground. He had just performed a feat that would've been nigh impossible in his previous world.

As he began examining the cave, he suddenly stopped and stretched out his arm. Right on cue, he got a hold of a small serpentine beast with four arms that was biting towards him.

Without worrying, he tossed the beast out of the cave and continued examining for a while.

After confirming that the cave was null of dangers he made covered the entrance with large leaves and made fire, before forcefully removed one of the spikes on the back of the dinosaur and used that to deskin and debone it and roasted it raw on the fire.

'My halo..'

As he ate, he reached out towards the golden dharma wheel behind him and touched the cold mettalic edge.

'It looks kinda familiar. Like real familiar.' He thought for a moment.

"Come on man. Don't tell me I got Mahoraga's wheel from Jujutsu kaisen? Haha"

Alan laughed for a moment, but realization dawned on him that drive him into deep thought once more.

'Hold on. Mahoraga's wheel allowed him to adapt to any and all phenomena when the wheel rotates. That's from what I remember from the anime, but in my case, not only do I adapt to any and all phenomena, I seem to retain some properties of the phenomena while my body develops to prevent being harmed by the phenomena..'

Pacing around back and forth in the cave, his hand was on his chin and his mind was riddled with thoughts.

'My adaptive ability is more like a combination of that of Doomsday and Mahoraga. In the sense that what doesn't kill me or in my case what kills me, makes me stronger.'

After minutes of musing, he finally took his seat and sighed.

"It seems I've won the jackpot this time. I can become infinitely strong if I continue to evolve. I can become a God.."

He laughed, before he raised his head to the sky.

"Just you wait old man. Watch me climb up the ranks. I'm gonna kick your butt when K get to heaven or wherever you live.."

Alan swore, as thunder boomed and lightning streaked.
