9 Futile efforts

*BANG!*

The midday sun shone rays of goodness onto the peaceful and quiet land. All the animals around went about their daily needs, some grazing, others drinking from a stream and some resting.

The next moment, a figure dropped from the skies at rapid speeds, crashed into multiple trees and then smashed into the ground forming a large crater, scaring all the beasts away.

"Ugghh…"

A few moments later, a groan resounded from the middle of the crater, and a figure slowly staggered to his feet, while rubbing his head in pain.

"Wheel, why does everything have to be so difficult? Even flying that I thought looked so effortless requires immense practice."

He spoke to himself and walked out of the crater, with his dark feathered wings fluttering behind him.

With a flex of his shoulders, the wings retracted into his back and he walked towards the banks of a large river. He was about to jump into the water, when he raised his head and noticed a streak of golden light flash within the sky, parting the clouds in an instant.

"A meteor?" He shrugged and turned around, cracked his knuckles and neck and readied himself.

"Oi, wheel, let's go kill that son a bitch!"

With a smirk, he jumped into the river as a pair of gills opened up on either side of his neck.

Scanning the deep dark surroundings with his incredible eyesight, he dived deep, swimming deep down to the bottom of the river.

*ROOAR!*

After reaching a certain depth, he finally heard a loud roar which brought a smile to his face.

"Come out and get these hands, you bastard!"

He laughed and clenched his fists, before he looked beside him, wanting to spot the beast and go for the kill, however he failed to notice the massive shadow that was already behind him.

In about a second later, realization dawned on him, as he sensed the malice that was surging towards him like waves of the sea. His heart began to pump blood with twice as much vigor. He felt the adrenaline coursing through his veins, and the rush of battle, however most importantly, he felt fear. All of his encounters with the beast had either ended in his defeat and death or escape, however he wasn't going to be outdone by a beast this time.

He bravely turned around and punched out, however, the moment his fist smashed into the head of the humongous crocodile, he felt his bone snap and pierce his skin.

Looking at his arm incredulously, it wasn't long before his body was hurled out of the river by one hit from the crocodile, as he soared into the air and crashed into the ground, seconds later.

"Hey, you idiot, why didn't you tell me it was so powerful?!"

Sitting within the crater in which his body had formed, he couldn't help but rub his head in annoyance, while watching his hand magically heal and regenerate.

"What sort of crocodile is it, that not even my punches can harm it? Hey wheel, what can I do to gain something like a Rasengan or a Bankai, or an I am Atomic and even a domain expansion to combat this beast?!"

He roared in frustration, as he remembered the encounter with the beast. The fear and the rush, it felt so real to him.

He now realised that not only would he need a powerful attack to take it down, he wasn't sure he could take any of its attacks head on, without dying of course. He needed to adapt to it, however an adaptation with a beast as strong as it would take quite the time.

The dharma wheels adaptation didn't just adapt to any phenomena. The smaller the effect of it, the easier and faster the adaptation, however the greater the phenomena, the longer and greater the adaptation.

'Still, I can't give up. I have a feeling that killing this beast will be akin to crossing some sort of threshold for me..'

Alan thought and stood up, before he readied himself and jumped into the river once more.

The moment he entered his eyes fell onto the massive crocodile that seemed to be waiting for his arrival.

*ROOAAARR!*

*Rooaaarr!*

Opposite each other, Alan and the beast roared out simultaneously and rushed towards each other, biting and tearing at each other like a bunch of primates. Alan tried to throw a punch, however the crocodile simply opened its mouth and bit on his arm, before tearing off in one fell swoop, as blood spilled all over.

He roared in pain and jumped onto its back with a readied fist, wanting to use all of his strength for one final attack, and cause irreversible damage.

However the beast flexed it's back and sent him crashing through a rock several meters away, before it gave chase to him.

*ZZOOM!"

Both creatures soared through the waters at impressive speeds, however, no matter how faster Alan got, the beast was always right behind him with its massive jaws opened and ready to swallow him.

'No! No! Spin you stupid wheel spin!!!'

He tried to hit the dharma wheel on his back, however the crocodile managed to catch up to him in split second and bit on him, ripping apart nearly half of his torso and tossing away like garbage, as he bled through and through.

*CLANG!*

The dharma wheel rotated once, however extraordinary nothing happened like before and Alan continued sinking. The beast on the other hand, was not ready to let go, it rushed towards him, grabbed him with its massive claws, and ripped off his head, before using its large tail as a whip to smash him out of the river, breaking all of the bones in his body , accompanied by sprays of blood and gore.

*BANG!*

The decapitated body flew out of the ocean and crashed into the ground lifelessly.

As the scent of blood, permeated the surroundings, multiple predators began emerging from the caves and hidings, stealthily rushing towards the source of food.

In about a few minutes, multiple beasts had arrived at the scene with their claws and canines outstretched, wanting to partake in their meal, however right then, a golden ray of light crashed into the ground, shaking the foundations of the earth, and leaving a massive crater as everything within the radius of a kilometre was turned to nothing from the seismic wave.

After a few moments, a bright figure walked out of the crater. His short golden hair was bright and sparkly, and his skin was the fairest shade ever seen, his face was carved from precious metals, the best amongst all except one, and his six pairs of golden feathered wings flapped behind his back, tearing space and reality apart with every turn.

His eyes burned with a golden flame and peered towards the decapitated body that was slowly regenerating as confusion flashed within them, probably for the first time in eons.
