Chapter 1 - Mylo

Mylo watched from a nearby rooftop as the target entered the building, he sighed as he moved the sniper scope over to the window.

"This is Phoenix to Thanatos, do you have the target in sight? We have him entering the building." A voice over his comlink asked, it was a woman he grew up with Scarlett. They decidedly entered the military together when they were much younger.

"Affirmative Phoenix, I watched the target enter the building. He is sitting down at the table now. Turning on recording devices and transmitting conversation and footage." He moved one of his hands over to the camera next to him and pressed the red button and the same with the device that looked like a mini satellite dish. As the person he was watching sat down at the table.

"Mr. Wilson, I believe I hired you to assassinate Commander Heskov not to destroy an entire military base. That base was an important staging ground for Russia to seize control of the Bialyan border. Without it my people are vulnerable, we won't be able to start operations until-" The burly Russian lieutenant was blabbing his mouth off. 'Intelligence was right about him. He is an egotistical idiot, more worried about his own position than any objective or greater purpose.'

"Lieutenant Resliv, I truly don't care about all of that." Slade Wilson interrupted as he took a drink of his beer. Mylo spotted shadows moving out of the corner of his eye, 'what the hell?' "I did my job and now it is time for you to pay up, because you never told me how to kill him. You just asked me to kill him."

"Actually it is Commander Resliv now, as for your payment," Resliv pulled out a Gold Plated Desert Eagle as Mylo watched a group of men dressed in military camo surround the house. "Let us just say it, you're fired."

"Thanatos what is going on down there we only have a view of the window." Phoenix asked over the radio.

"Calm down Phoenix, it appears that this new commander has decided to double cross Wilson. I have a feeling that Wilson will have to look for funding elsewhere." Mylo whispered as he watched the soldiers, Spetsnaz if he had to guess with the way they were moving, break down the door and surround the man known as Deathstroke. "Hey, maybe they'll get lucky."

"Negative Thanatos, call just came in from The Iron Lady. Pack up the listening equipment you get to break him out of custody while staying in the shadows." Phoenix spoke cockily. Mylo watched Wilson take another drink of his beer before he stood up and surrendered.

"Haa…" Mylo sighed as he turned off the listening device and camera then quickly tucked them into his bag. "One day, it will just be a simple job. In-and-Out, no antiquated or off-mission objectives." Once his bag was packed he stood up shuffling off the sand that covered his body. Picking up his rifle he moved quickly but quietly to the small village's exit.

The Spetsnaz were distracted while escorting Deathstroke, and they were definitely distracted. He managed to go toe-to-toe with members of the Justice League not too long ago, which scared most people.

While they did that, Mylo moved around and placed remote explosive devices at several distances from the village. It should provide enough distraction to let him escape without getting directly involved. He then backed up a good distance and watched through his rifle's scope as the convoy of vehicles the Spetsnaz were using moved to the village exit.

As soon as they arrived at the explosions, distanced just as Mylo expected, he blew the charges. The front and rear humvees exploded in a fiery detonation while the center truck skidded to a halt and the men inside stormed out of the vehicle. With their new commander dead they were likely confused about what they should do, they will probably try to contact headquarters.

Mylo switched on his jamming device he had tucked away amidst the other gear and then heard static over his comlink. The remaining Spetsnaz started searching for a target instead. Which was Mylo's que. After he had set up his explosives earlier he had quickly rigged a mirror to a pole. Now he took a laser pointer out and pointed it at the mirror, it started dragging, appearing against the truck catching the soldiers attention. Then it quickly turned off, but it was long enough that the Spetsnaz noticed. Then quickly locating the source they opened fire, destroying both the wooden pole and the mirror that was attached.

The Spetsnaz stopped shooting after several seconds then one of them pointed at four others and signaled for them to approach the position and signaled two others to move around a building to flank leaving only three with Deathstroke, who was raising an eyebrow in surprise. Once the four arrived at the mirror and the three successfully flanked they noticed the lack of a person then two more explosions under them killed a few and caused others to lose limbs.

Mylo glanced at Deathstroke and saw him choking out the commander, he could take care of the rest.

He turned off his jammer and clicked his comlink, "this is Thanatos to Phoenix, do you copy?" Mylo asked as he moved towards his exfil vehicle in a quick jaunt. Once Deathstroke was freed from his cuffs he would be more curious than scared, and Mylo had to stay hidden in the shadows.

"We read you Thanatos, have you completed the extra objective?"

"Affirmative Phoenix, I even used non-marked materials so there won't be any suspicion on us. Which exfil route am I taking?" Mylo arrived at his modified dirt bike and threw the desert camouflage off of it. It was armored and it ran on electricity, charged via solar panels. Perfect for a mission like this, one of his favorite creations that Scarlett called, 'gimmicky'.

"Route C. It looks like you got the long and hard trek through the desert this time."

"Haa…" Mylo sighed, "I really am starting to hate this job." He started his bike up and started driving through the desert into the night. It would be a three day journey to his exfil. He would ride at night and charge his bike during the day.

"Did you see the news?" Scarlett asked as she worked on her homework while Mylo tinkered with another of his devices. Mylo only shook his head in response. "It looks like that Batman vigilante has a sidekick, I think they are calling him Robin."

"Like the bird? Maybe he is territorial?" Mylo joked as a spark bounced off the computer board he was soldering.

"Huh?" Scarlett thought about his statement for a few minutes then shook her head, "nevermind, have you thought about what I asked? About the military? I know you said your parents were pushing you to further your education even though you already-"

"Have a doctorate in psychology as well as specialties in chemistry, electronics, and mechanics? Subjects I am very interested in pursuing while my parents would prefer me become a full time psychologist like them and my siblings?" Mylo asked as he turned off his tools and stretched his arms above his head. "Yeah I have thought about what you asked me." He moved the tools he was using out of the way and connected some wires together, then with a few clicks the device was floating. His first drone, also his most primitive.

"What have you decided?" Scarlett asked, fully paying attention.

Mylo whistles and the drone starts flying away, "I will join you. But I am warning you now to not fall behind because I won't settle for being some second-rate thug of the military. So you better keep up."

"Hahaha!" Scarlett laughed as she raised a fist, "you're on Mylo!" Mylo smiled and fist bumped her.

Now. Biaylan-Russian Border.

"Haa…" Mylo sighed as he stood up and stretched as night approached. Getting on his bike he put the solar panels away and started it up. Riding down the mountain bumping over rocks as he went.

With nothing to focus on except his thoughts and the road ahead. Until he noticed something, like a meteorite heading towards the ground in front of him. But before it impacted as it was covered in fire he noticed it was a body. Both luckily and unluckily it crashed in front of him. Luckily he wouldn't have to change course. Unluckily he got the shockwave from the impact head on.

His dirt bike skidded to a stop for a moment, then he started heading in the same direction again, arriving at the crater not even five minutes later.

He clicked his comlink twice to signal Phoenix as he put down the kickstand on his bike. He climbed off his bike and readied his rifle as he climbed into the crater.

"Thanatos, it is Phoenix. What can I do for you so early in the morning?" Phoenix yawned, causing Mylo to roll his eyes.

"Phoenix, I just had a umm…" Mylo blinked in surprise as he walked up to the unconscious body in front of him, "well actually believe it or not a beautiful woman fell out of the sky into my route."

"Hahaha! You just called me to tell me that joke about the gypsy woman again didn't you?" Phoenix laughed as she spoke.

Mylo looked over at the young woman, "actually, I am not joking. She is dressed in some kind of black outfit, but I most definitely saw her fall from the sky. She is unconscious at the moment."

"Oh…Shit! Okay, you have bogies on route. She caught too much attention. I will leave it up to you, but if you leave her there the Bialya government will try to take advantage of her in some way." Scarlett reminded him.

Mylo nodded and after thinking for only a moment he was crawling back out of the crater with the woman slung over his shoulder. He used the scope of his gun to look at his route and could see headlights in that direction.

"I need a new exfil," Mylo stated over his comlink.

"I am looking at pictures of the area now. It looks like there is an old airfield to the west of your position, I suggest you ride without lights."

"Agreed, keep an eye out." Mylo climbed onto his bike and tied the unconscious young woman to him and wrapped her arms around him. Now that she was secured he started riding to the airfield, hopefully some winds picked up so his tracks would be lost in the sand.

"Absolutely not!" His mother screamed. "I forbid you from going into the military! You are by far the most intelligent and successful of all my children! I will not have you waste that on a bunch of politician's whimsical schemes for wealth or something as stupid as patriotic pride!"

Mylo sighed and shook his head. They were taking it about as well as he thought they would, "mother, I am eighteen years old. I am of legal age to sign up of my own accord." He quickly glanced at his older sister and brother who seemed to have flinched and been saddened by her words. As for his father it was a face of rage as well, quite literally he had turned red with anger. "Besides, it is already done. I am leaving for officer school tomorrow." Mylo then walked towards the lobby as he waved, "but don't worry, I will send postcards eventually."

"YOUNG MAN! COME BACK HERE THIS INSTANT!" He could hear his father finally blow a gasket as he roared. But Mylo ignored him and walked out of the room.

This family of his really was suffocating, they had tried everything in their power to make them more like them. Arrogant, overbearing, prideful, and dishonest. But he just couldn't do it. When his parents sent him to the rich person's school he graduated early at the age of 12. He was then forced to study Psychology at college.

Spent four boring years getting his doctorate, luckily he had enough free time to study what he really wanted even picked up mixed martial arts and acrobats in his free time. His family was more than happy to chip in for the mixed martial arts and acrobatic lessons. But he did have to hide his private learning of chemistry, mechanics, and electronics from his family.

Now. Biaylan-Russian Border.

Mylo arrived at the defunct airfield just as a sandstorm rolled in. He saw three old hangers and a small control tower. It looked like it was World War II era. He quickly drove through the stretch of asphalt.

As he drove past the hangers he looked inside. The first one was empty. The second one looked to have several parts of old bombers in it. Then the third was the gold mine as he drove into the hanger he slowed to a stop and put down the kickstand. Then unwrapped his new partner in crime and carried her gently over to the side where a small shed still stood.

Setting her down he looked over the young woman. The cloth she wore looked like spandex but was clearly far more durable. It seemed like some type of metallic weave with the way it was shining in the light. The only visible mark on her was a slight bruise on the right side of her forehead.

"Did you get to cover in time? We are blind until the storm passes." Scarlett stated over the radio, "better question. How is your sleeping beauty?"

Mylo chuckled, "the blond bombshell is still unconscious. She got knocked out pretty good, it looks like something hit her hard enough on the head to knock her out. Still have no clue who she is, she had no identification on her."

Mylo then stood up and turned around to look at the other beauty in the room, "but I did just find a way to pass the time until this storm passes and how to get across the border." Mylo removed the rest of the tarp covering the 'Spitfire' plane from World War II that was sitting in the hangar. Aside from the rust it was in mint condition.

"Now let's get you working, I doubt you have enough fuel sooo…." Mylo looked at his bike and sighed. "Time to get started on a new project."

Two hours away at the crater.

"Commander Psion, we were able to find tracks leading away from the crater but they were wiped away by the storm. But we know the direction, but we won't be able to move until this sand storm passes." Psion's second-in-command yelled over the loud wind battering against their vehicles.

"Okay, have all vehicles facing that direction while we wait. I don't want to waste as much time as we already have. Queen Bee wants whatever was in that crater." Psion responded in her melodic voice.

"Yes ma'am!"

Eight Years Ago. Gotham City. Bus Stop.

"You ready Mylo?" Scarlett asked as she readied her bag as the bus approached.

"I am. How about you?" Mylo asked as he glanced over at her family who came to see her off.

"Ecstatic." Scarlett responded with a big grin.

Mylo only smiled and shook his head. Here's to a big new adventure.
