Eddie. POV.
Oliver opened with a forward left knee knee that I simply brushed aside to the right. He extended the leg and wrapped it around my right leg bring me on that knee then his other leg quickly swung around to knock me over my head.
I crashed to the floor with a grunt. He did a back spin up to standing, while my face was in the mat.
"Told ya." I looked over at him to see him with a blinding smile and his hands on his hips. "Top 2%" I grumbled and heard the Zeta Tube activate.
"What's up kids?" Artemis yelled from the other side of the room. Dinah smiled and stood up to greet her while Oliver only waved. I kept grumbling. Dinah and Artemis proceeded to talk about whatever.
"This is not a good look for you." Oliver walked over to me and crouched down low. "Maybe you should have stretched more." He offered with another cheesy grin.
"Go fuck yourself." He chuckled and patted me on the shoulder. I huffed and stood up.
"Round 2." I said and he just kept chuckling.
"How about you take a breather before you get…" I cut him off with a left jab to the face followed by a right hook to the torse then two more jabs to his chest. Causing him to back up and rub his chest. "Again with all these…" I cut him off again, by lunging towards him for a tackle. I was completely off the ground and his eyes widened. He stepped to the side while I slashed at the place he was, landing at a handstand and then twisting to stand up. Simple Boxer's position.
"Fight back." I said simply and sped towards him in a spinning jump kick. He ducked and went for a leg sweep where I landed.
His leg did hit, but I didn't move an inch.
"Fight back." I said more heated and slower.
"Look. I don't want to hurt you. How about we take a little breather?" He offered. I shook my head.
"Not possible." He sighed and put up his guard.
"Why did I think this was a good idea?" He whispered to himself. And then went on the attack again with hooks and punches that I just blocked with my own punches or simply avoided. I merely defense for now, backing away as he continued towards me. I smirked. I saw an opening.
Whenever he would go for a kick, he would pause his assault for a quarter of a second to brace his footing for launch. Same with his punches. All coming in within a half a second of each other with a kick spaced out at exactly the third or seventh punch. His kicks matched those of Taekwondo. Not exactly hard to block and then counter. His punches were never the same style though. Wing Chun mostly, with a mix Muay Tai and American Boxing.
Block leg with shoulder, then wrap arm around head, sweep the leg. Finish the fight.
A series of punches and kicks later I saw an easy get out. He went for the textbook high kick. I stepped forward with my left leg causing my shoulder to take the brunt of the attack, then as his leg was caught on my shoulder, I stepped with my right leg causing him to lose balance with his standing foot. His eyes widened and he tried to create space by punching me in my stomach and lower torso, I ignored it and wrapped my right arm around his head. His airborne foot was already on the ground, his arms no longer punching my lower torso but inside grabbing my right leg and lifting it. He was trying to use my body weight to launch me forward.
My original plan failed. I underestimated him. Though my foundation was compromised with one leg off the ground I still had the advantage. My arm was still wrapped around his head, and I still had my left arm free. To which I grabbed the back of his belt and lifted him up.
It was awkward. Lifting another man who was holding on to your leg. I was never in this situation before. I admit, I paused for a second and really took in the moment.
"You give up?" I heard Oliver say to which I responded with tightening my grip on his head. I couldn't really do much in this situation. I had no leverage to push off. I couldn't twist my body and throw him because he still had his arms around my leg. As I was thinking of what to do, I felt a pinch behind my right knee that caused me to yelp in pain and fall to the floor on my knees. Oliver took the opportunity and twisted to land on his back. He rolled away and went to standing.
"I thought you had me there." He had a red face and a worried look. I just charged forward but landed again on my knee. I tried again and the same thing happened. I couldn't stand on my right leg.
"What did you do?" I asked him with a heated glare.
"Just a little thing I learned on an island. Cool, right?" His face was becoming less red, and his smile was forming again. "Top" He put two fingers up with one hand and pointed at himself with the other. "2%."
"Go fuck yourself." I huffed and continued to rub my knee.
"Turn that frown upside down. Look on the bright side. You almost had me." He raised his hand to form a space between his thumb and index finger. "Almost." He crouched in front of me. "Tiny bit." I sighed.
"I get it." He chuckled and walked away whistling.
"Two points Team Arrow! Woot! Woot!" He continued to celebrate. Raising his hand to the sky and dancing a little bit. "Food is on me tonight." He went up the stair to presumably shower.
"That was embarrassing." I heard Artemis say from my side. I laid on my back with my legs in front of me stretched out.
"Tell me about it."
"I didn't know he had it in him." She murmured to herself while looking down at me.
"Yup."
"So. How do you feel?" A smile was creeping on her face. I sighed and covered my eyes.
"Grappling isn't my strongest suit."
"I could tell. Maybe you should stick to fist on fist."
"Yup."
"It's surprising though. For a man your size, not being able to beat a man of Oliver's size. Maybe you need to work on that?"
"Yup."
"Like I know I came in late, but from what I saw…" I cut her off by grabbing her leg and pulling it to me. Causing her to land on her back.
"Ouch! What was that for?"
"You wouldn't shut up." She stood up rubbing her back.
"So, you hit me? How does that make any sense."
"I didn't hit you. I pulled your leg out from under you."
"Now I'm covered in man sweat." She flailed her arms around; she took off her hoodie to wave it frantically in the air. I laughed. "This isn't funny." She was glaring at me. "Now I'm going to have to get a new one." Dinah walked up to us now and saw what was happening.
"I have a hoodie you can borrow for now." She said while rubbing her shoulder trying to calm her down. Artemis just huffed and walked away.
"Thanks." Dinah glared at me, and I was still smiling.
"It was funny."
"Get changed." Her glare was still firm.
"Come on. You can't say it wasn't funny." I managed to stand up now.
"Changed. Now." She pointed to the stairs.
An outsider would see this as very amusing. A 5'4" Woman telling a 6'5" giant a man what to do.
"Don't make me yell." Dinah emphasized every word and crossed her arms. I just sighed and limped away.
"Yeah, yeah. Big scary banshee." That stairs became an obstacle of their own.
(Sorry if the fight scene was confusing.)
(Also to clarify. Eddie does not have that much experience fighting highly skilled people. He is able to go blow for blow with Oliver, he is stronger then Oliver. Oliver is just more knowledgable, due to him fighting actual trained killers. Deathstroke, Merlyn, The League of Assassin's and including all the other superpowered people. While also being trained by Black Canary who is arguably the third or fourth best hand to hand fighter)
