45 Chapter 44

"What's the plan?"

Koriand'r asked and shifted into warrior mode.

The plan and the information were announced by Robin, who was their unofficial boss.

"Kid, Aqualad, and I will clear the streets. Meanwhile, Kírix, Speedy, and Koriand'r will target the objective."

Robin explained.

"It's Starfire!"

Koriand'r corrected.

"What do you mean?"

Robin asked with confusion.

"I decided that would be my codename."

Starfire responded.

"When did this happen?"

Kid Flash asked while looking puzzled.

"Earlier this morning."

Starfire continued.

"Enough joking around."

Speedy interrupted.

Robin was about to say something to Speedy, but before he could speak, Kid shouted, "Look out!"

Robin quickly refocused his attention on the road in front and turned the flying car to the right, just in time to avoid being hit by the motorcycle that was thrown in their direction.

They all tensed up at how close the motorcycle came to hitting them.

"We've arrived,"

Robin then said.

Dio looked ahead and saw an ordinary street, but it was empty of people.

Instead, it was swarmed with police who had set up perimeters on both sides of the street using their patrol cars.

They were taking cover behind their vehicles and firing pistols and shotguns at the man standing in the middle of the street.

He was likely responsible for the motorcycle that nearly hit them.

"You forgot to mention our enemy's size, super strength, and resistance, Robin."

Kid Flash spoke with anxiety evident in his voice.

Kid had every right to think that their opponent was intimidating.

He was well over two meters tall, and his body appeared entirely of muscle, and his broad shoulders gave the illusion that he was a giant.

He wore only a black vest and pants, exposing his arms, and had shoulder-length red hair and a beard.

Unfortunately, Dio couldn't recognize him in any of the DC characters he knew, so he only knew what everyone else does now.

"The police need help, now!"

Aqualad shouted upon seeing the giant lifting a parked car on the street and facing one of the barricades.

"Starfire!"

Dio yelled, and she understood.

Starfire flew out of their vehicle towards the giant, and as he threw the car, she was close enough to hit him with her energy blasts from above, forcing the car to fall to the ground a few meters away from the police officers.

"We need to land."

Kid Flash said.

"I'll go in front."

Aqualad warned.

"I'm going too."

Dio also replied.

Since there were no people in the street to clear, Robin's plan had to change.

Unfortunately, they didn't have much time to wait for him to instruct them.

Robin couldn't land the car in the middle of the street; they'd be easy targets.

So Robin had to take them to one of the rooftops of the buildings on the street.

Aqualad simply jumped out of the car, and Dio teleported to the ground.

With the instant movement of shadows, Dio touched the ground before Aqualad landed.

This height wouldn't hurt him; Atlanteans are much more resilient than humans.

Dio then drew his sword and shield from his back and sprinted toward the enemy.

When Dio reached the first perimeter, he jumped over it.

The police had the courtesy and intelligence not to continue firing since Starfire arrived, and at this moment, she was firing green energy blasts at the giant from a distance.

The giant was swinging his hands as if trying to grab her, but she was much more agile in the air.

When she saw Dio approaching, she spun in the air and made the giant turn his back to Dio in an opening position.

Dio was certainly going to accept the invitation.

Dio accelerated with a burst of speed from one point to another, and he appeared right in front of the giant's back.

Dop jumped to the perfect height and attacked with his shield aimed at his head. However, he somehow managed to predict his movement and turned to face his strike.

But it didn't matter; the blow was too close for him to dodge. But the giant managed to surprise Dio by delivering a headbutt to his shield.

"BLAMMMM!"

It sounded like his head was made of metal, as it was that hard.

The force of his headbutt caused Dio to retreat a few meters, which stopped his attack.

The giant seemed satisfied with his strength and smiled at Dio, a smile that disappeared when Starfire hit his back with her attack.

Clearly infuriated, the giant spun his body and tried to punch her, but he made the mistake of getting too close.

The punch was stopped before it could hit her by a whip made of luminescent water that coiled around the giant's wrist.

Aqualad arrived just in time.

The giant wasn't stupid; when he saw he was being restrained, he grabbed the whip with his other hand, turned his body, and lifted Aqualad off the ground as if he were a toy.

The giant continued to spin him in the air until the water whip snapped and threw Aqualad at high speed toward a wall on the other side of the street.

Dio was about to help him when a golden blur passed by his side and ran up the wall, held Aqualad's body, and then disappeared and reappeared by Dio's side.

"Thanks, Kid Flash."

Aqualad said this and looked at his friend.

"You're welcome."

Kid Flash replied.

"Now, how are we going to deal with this?"

Dio asked.

There was no time to plan as several arrows flew over the giant's head and hit the giant's body.

The giant didn't seem the least bit scared by them and didn't appear to be injured when they hit his back.

The ones that touched his body didn't break. Instead, they went through a thin layer of skin and got stuck.

This meant that his invulnerability wasn't as ridiculous as Superman's.

Even if it were, Dio's sword had magical enchantments that were about to be tested against invulnerable beings.
