13 Chapter 12

Finally, after a couple of minutes, Dio tore his gaze away from the surrounding light to clear his mind.

Dio's body moved on its own. This time, he started moving gently and slowly along a long red carpet.

When he stopped, Dio wasn't looking at this whole place. He was looking at a four-meter-tall staircase with two thrones across from each other at the top.

The throne on the right was different from the rest.

He had only seen gold or black so far; the colors he saw were the result of the priceless gems that adorned them.

On the other hand, this throne was made of green wood and looked fragile. It had many flowers of different colors growing on it naturally.

The throne next to it was being used, but this one was empty.

The throne on the left matched everything else in the room. It was made of the same black material he had seen before, but on the arm rest, there were carvings that looked like heads.

It was mostly easy and clear what else was going on, but it made things seem much worse than the empty one.

It could have been because a man was sitting on it.

He wore a black Greek mantle that exposed his shoulders, and his skin was the whitest he had ever seen; it was rather pearly white.

He couldn't see his face; he wore a black helmet that covered it. In his hand, he held a weapon resembling a black trident; there was a space in the middle as it only had two separate ends.

The weapon was slightly larger than the man holding it.

The man raised the weapon and hit the floor with its lower end, which caused the entire hall to tremble.

Obviously, this movement served as some sort of summoning signal, as multiple shadows began to appear below the stairs.

The new arrivals were enveloped in black smoke, and Dio couldn't determine whether they were men or women. They stood still and stared at him.

"Diomedes Inwood,"

The man on the throne spoke.

The man spoke with a cold, commanding voice that made him feel kindness instead of hate or anger.

"Son of *****,"

He continued, this time saying a name that should have been his mother's, but Dio didn't hear it.

In a normal situation, Dio would have thought about why, but his next words caught him off guard.

"And my son. Son of Hades!"

"Son of Hades!"

"Son of Hades!"

"Son of Hades!"

"Son of Hades!"

The chorus of the shadowy voices that followed the man's speech went invisible.

My consciousness seemed to freeze after he said that he was Hades. The only Hades Dio had ever heard of was the Greek god Hades.

Now he understood who he was.

"You are my son, just like your mother's son. Even if it was your mother's decision to let you grow in the mortal realm without our involvement, remember, we treasure you."

Hades continued.

Dio was still in shock, so he listened to everything he said but couldn't react.

"The mortal realm is a dangerous place, my child, but do not yield to any difficulties, for you are the son of Hades, and Hades never surrenders or bows to anyone!"

After finishing his speech, he rammed his weapon into the ground again, and the invisible force that brought him here reappeared, this time pulling him back.

In the next moment, Dio was at the same distance as when he first appeared here and looked down from above.

"I will be watching your deeds, my son,"

Hades said, and his voice sounded as if he were right beside me.

"Now, wake up!"

He commanded.

...

Dio's awakening wasn't pleasant.

Dio's vision was blurry, and his body felt heavy, as if he had slept for years. But after a few minutes, his vision returned to normal.

However, that wasn't the end of it.

Dio's normal vision then changed.

The roof of the room where he was standing was made of pure stone, and lamps on the walls lit it up. The lamps were the only things closer to the ground, so the sky should have been dark.

But he could see everything as clearly as if it were daylight. This was the first evidence that his dream wasn't a dream.

He tried to ignore the changes in his vision and focus on where he was. He remembered that before he passed out, he had choked Dylan in some way.

He thought he was hallucinating since he had lost so much blood, so he must have been in a hospital at the moment.

But this place was definitely not a hospital.

Besides, Dio didn't even feel pain in his bandaged shoulder.

He forced himself to get up; his muscles protested with creaks, but he didn't feel any pain.

Right now, he feels better than ever.

He could see where he was as he was sitting on the edge of the bed. It was clear that it was a hospital in some kind of cave.

There were several beds that were just like the one he was sitting on.

Dio removed the IV needle and tried to get up, but he ended up falling to the floor. Dio's body seemed fine, but he couldn't control it properly.

After a few attempts, he understood why his body had changed. Or rather, it had been upgraded.

Dio's skin had become pale and delicate, and his height had also increased slightly.

But he didn't have a mirror nearby, so he couldn't see his face.

"You shouldn't have tried to get out of bed on your own, young Master Diomedes."

Before he could fully regain his senses, a man in the clothes of an English butler entered the infirmary and carried a silver tray with a glass of water.

"My name is Alfred Pennyworth, and I work for Batman. You're safe here, so allow me to help you back into bed."

Alfred was a fifty-year-old Englishman, bald with a mustache, and his movements gave him an air of nobility.

Alfred helped him back into bed, then handed him the glass of water and left the room to inform his master.

Meanwhile, Dio decided to gather his thoughts.

It's not every day he finds out he's the son of the lord of the Greek underworld and wakes up in a cave at Batman's place.
