Chapter 128

Dio had a few seconds at most before he made his move.

The ability to think quickly makes seconds valuable for someone like him.

So, Dio analyzed the spell he was trapped in and what he was writing on the ground.

Based on what he had seen together, Dio thought this magician was a conjurer.

He defended himself against his spells earlier by conjuring a portal to another dimension that swallowed his spell.

The octopus restraining him was also a being from that dimension. He's not strong enough to fully conjure it, or Dio would be dead already.

The only thing holding me back completely was this creature's tentacles.

It must be on the level of a demon god or something close.

Then why didn't he kill him right away?

Dio was immobilized; there was no need to create another spell to deal with him.

He didn't want Dio dead.

That's for sure. So, there were only two alternatives left, he wanted to sacrifice or control him somehow.

It is a big deal to sacrifice a demigod. There are some dark mages who sacrifice virgins or souls in order to increase their power.

A nearly divine being like a demigod is worth all this trouble.

Dio recognized some of the letters and symbols he had written on the ground.

Bond and servitude.

Then time was running out.

He stood up and extended his hand with his blood-stained nails and fingers.

"Now, only a little of your delicious blood is missing."

"Haa!"

Dio let out a small cry of pain when he ran his nail along the left side of his neck to pierce him.

He pulled his hand away from him. Dio didn't see his blood; it had mixed with what was already staining his nail.

'Wait!'

"You don't want to control me; you want my body!"

Dio figured it out.

"Haha."

He laughed.

"Am I right?"

Dio asked and found his laughter offensive.

"No, you're not."

The magician said this while crouching down and slowly drawing a small circle around the words he had written earlier.

"I was dying; imagine that. I had to humiliate myself by pretending that the woman had defeated me after centuries of using every means to extend my life. Luckily, it worked as planned; she turned me, and I managed to keep my magic. The next step would be to steal all of Mary's powers, but that changed when I saw you, a nearly divine being born and loved by darkness but not influenced by it."

The circle was complete, and it began to glow with a strong black light.

"So, I will steal everything: your youth, divine gifts, and memories. I will absorb it all and take another step toward the abyss!"

A truly mad, dark mage, if Dio weren't here, he likely would have dealt with their problem, which was Mary.

"Let's begin!"

The magician stood up again. The light from his new spell grew stronger, and the words on the floor started to move and spin until they turned into a red vortex.

The same color of smoke was coming out of it and slowly rising into the air.

Dio started to panic while trying to fight against the tentacles holding him and use magic—any magic.

However, the tentacles tighten even more while cutting into his skin. There was blood running down his arms.

The wizard in front of him put his hand on the red smoke, palm down, and covered it with a thick substance.

"HAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"

Dio screamed and gave it his all with a huge amount of strength while ignoring the pain of the tentacles digging deeper into him.

The wizard stepped forward with his hand raised above his head, but nothing happened.

"BOOOM!"

The room where John entered to fight the vampires on the side exploded, which killed all the vampires in front of him.

The whole corridor was filled with smoke and dust. The surprised wizard stopped moving and looked back.

John stumbles heavily out of the room because of the dust. He is bleeding all over his left side, even in the head.

It looks like his left arm was injured, and his clothes are torn.

"Last resort, it is very useful for situations like this."

Seeing Dio on the other side of the corridor, he raised his good arm with a grenade.

"Quick!"

Dio shouted to him.

The wizard raised his hand and pointed it at John.

John used his mouth to pull the pin out of the grenade, but the magician hit him in the chest with a burst of dark energy before he could throw it.

John spun in the air and fell near the stairs.

"Tick!"

The grenade fell to the ground and rolled. The magician pointed at it, and a small black portal appeared beneath it, which made it disappear.

"CRAACK!"

The wooden floor breaks under Dio.

The pentagram under where Dio was broken, and the tentacles that wrapped around his body disappeared as if they were illusions.

He turned his body around as he felt something was wrong, and Dio's sword pierced through his heart.

"Don't worry, the abyss awaits you!"

Dio told him as he put his hand behind his neck and pulled him towards him.

Dio's sword pierced through his entire body, and he turned into dust.

He had a strong, chaotic black soul, different from the others his sword had devoured.

A wave of magic passed through Dio; the house's defenses vanished when he died.

Dio looked down at the suddenly exploding floor that saved him.

The floor exploded; not even John's grenade could damage this house with its strong defenses.

'So, what the hell happened?'

Dio ran through the corridor as fast as he could. The grenade wiped out the vampires upstairs; the current issue is John.

Dio moved his body to straighten it to inspect his wounds closely.

He has wounds all over his body from many scratches. The worst injury was in his abdomen, and Dio could see his organs.

The grenade injured and burned half of his body, and when the wizard hit him in the chest, a circle of flesh corroded it.

The heart in his body is slowly beating.

"Hang in there, old man, I'll save you."

Dio placed his hand above his mouth, and his gray ectoplasm enveloped it. It sends a drop of red liquid fire into his mouth.

That drop from the River Phlegethon was still not even close to being strong enough to heal him, so his magic couldn't save him.

So, Dio was using a real one he obtained in the underworld; now, he's just hoping it's enough.

...

"BOOM"

"BOOM"

Constantine used up his double-barreled sawed-off shotgun and put it against the wall of the room with his back against it.

He then shot it at the two vampires, who were almost on top of him, and blew off their heads.

The situation was bad.

He was injured on the side of his abdomen while bleeding heavily, and he's not good at healing spells.

On the other side of the room, Mary was on top of Andrew Bennett and drank his blood while he lay helpless on the floor.

"Constantine, hurry!"

Andrew shouted using telepathy.

Constantine struggled to get up while holding the cut on his side, but the vampires wouldn't let it bother Mary, and he moved forward again.

"SHHHH"

He then felt a wave of magic pass through the entire house. The spells were broken, and the enemy wizard was killed.

"BOOM"

There was an explosion at the front door two seconds later, and a beautiful woman with orange skin, long, fiery red hair, and red eyes raised both hands and fired at the vampires in the room.

Starfire seemed to use magic to kill all the vampires in the room.

The only living vampires in the room now are Mary and Andrew.

Constantine felt the wind pass past him, and Mary rolled on the floor while Andrew disappeared and reappeared next to Kid Flash.

"Just in time!"

Andrew said to Constantine.

Constantine didn't pay attention to him; Andrew had his total focus.

After losing most of his blood, Andrew Bennett, the world's most powerful vampire, looked like a shirtless mummy.

"I should have finished this faster but couldn't resist."

Mary said and stood up from the floor.

She changed into a beautiful red dress with a wide neckline, but her eyes were now redder; Andrew's blood must have made her stronger.

"Starfire, she's all yours!"

Kid Flash yelled at her.

Starfire looked at Mary, ready to fire the starbolt and end this, but Mary then turned into mist and escaped through the wall behind her.

"Do it!"

Andrew shouted.

"I know!"

Constantine also shouted.

Constantine was lying beside him when he pulled a red dagger out of thin air and raised it above his head.

On the other side of the room, Mary reappeared behind Starfire to punch her in the face and make her fall to the ground.

Kid Flash ran and jumped while trying to grab her, but his body passed through her, and he fell to the ground.

"Ishtar, onorigiue…."

Constantine began to chant his spell, and the dagger began to glow red.

"Constantine, what are you doing!!"

Another voice shouts.

John was now awake, and Kírix stopped and looked right at Constantine from the stairs.

"Winning the war!"

Constantine replied while lowering the dagger and plunging it into Andrew Bennett's heart.

There was complete silence.

The red energy in the dagger began to take over Andrew's body, which didn't even have the strength to scream, and then turned into dust.

"This enchanted dagger will use his sired to Mary and hers to the other vampires; all of them will die. One death to spare thousands."

Constantine explained while standing up and looking at everyone's shocked faces.

This was the plan he suggested to Andrew.

A sacrifice.

"HaHaHaHaHaHaHaHa!"

Mary should have been more scared, but she started laughing like crazy and fell to the ground, which scared everyone.

"Wait, you should already be dead!"

Constantine realized.

Mary stopped laughing and looked back at Constantine.

"You fool, did you really think I wanted to kill Andrew just because he wasn't on my side or because I saw him as a threat?"

Mary asked.

Constantine then felt it; the dust that Andrew turned into after his death began to move around him while spinning uncontrollably.

"I wasn't acting recklessly, Constantine; I wanted to win this war, and you just did that for me."

Mary continued.

The dust began to take shape as the unnatural darkness covered the sun above them.

"In this world of gods and demons, we have to have the power to kill gods and demons for vampires to win, so why not summon our own god to do that?"

Mary asked and laughed like a maniac again.

The dust disappeared, and now a man is in front of them.

"The First!"

Kírix guessed.

Constantine understood that he had just made the biggest mistake of his life.
