Chapter 19: Training

After many days, Jekyll returned to the abandoned warehouse, but this time, he didn't need to use the skylight; instead, he confidently emerged from the basement entrance.

"I never expected the entrance to the basement was here. No wonder GCPD detectives came to the warehouse and couldn't find the entrance."

The staircase leading to the basement entrance was covered with a huge graffiti of the Joker's face. If one didn't look closely, they wouldn't even notice there was a door here.

In the now abandoned warehouse, there were almost no traces of the battle a few days ago. Except for the location where Jekyll remembered being shot, there were inconspicuous dark stains.

"All right, hurry up, don't block the way. Dinah's teaching time is precious!"

As Jekyll enjoyed the fresh air outside the basement, someone forcefully kicked him in the buttocks, causing him to stagger several steps.

"Tsk, speaking of which, is it really okay for me to come out like this? What if a police suddenly rushes in here?"

Rubbing his sore buttocks, Jekyll looked worriedly towards the direction of the warehouse door. The large door, which had been rammed open by a black-masked truck, still remained deformed and couldn't close completely.

"Don't worry about that. There were indeed plainclothes detectives sneaking around here a few days ago, but they have been called back by Gordon these past two days—after all, Batman hasn't shown his face for several days, and Gotham's police force is getting tense again."

Jekyll's heart skipped a beat; he then remembered that Batman had been seriously injured in the back by Bane that day. He didn't know how severe the injuries were, but it seemed that the impact of this incident would gradually reveal itself.

"All right, stop dawdling. Let me see the training list. First, warm-up! Run twenty laps around the inside of this warehouse, then do squats for one round, and finally, walk one round upside down."

Dinah took out a smartphone from her pocket, seemingly checking something on it. However, from Dinah's expression, she seemed very excited and enthusiastic about training Jekyll.

Of course, Jekyll had no intention of cooperating with her whimsical training list. He smiled mysteriously, raised a finger, and gently shook it.

"Sorry, Miss Dinah. To be honest, my fighting style doesn't require this kind of training. Although it's rare for Harley and you to be kind, I plan to secretly train and practice my special abilities."

Dinah stared at Jekyll with an expression like she was looking at a fool, then crossed her arms, revealing a playful smile.

"Let me guess, your special ability should be short-distance teleportation combined with optical invisibility, placing a box that generates mental attack sound waves out of thin air, magically producing small knives, and inhaling poisonous gas to strengthen your body. Well, roughly these, right?"

Jekyll was dumbfounded; he felt like he was being exposed naked by Dinah. Except for the flying knife ability of the poison-shiv, Dinah almost figured out all his cards.

Moreover, the pinpoint accuracy of the flying knife was just basic for these superhumans and couldn't be considered a special ability.

"Don't look so surprised; didn't I tell you before? I watched your entire fight on the ground from start to finish. Analyzing such things becomes easy after seeing them once; it's just basic skills."

But Jekyll quickly adjusted his mood, cleared his throat, and showed a confident smile.

"Since Dinah, you understand, it's easy to handle. You saw how I took down everyone in the room back then, although I acted recklessly to save you. But if the goal is just to escape, with these abilities, I should be able to protect myself without any problems."

Dinah snorted lightly, looking at Jekyll with a disdainful gaze.

"Well, it seems your brain is even less bright than I imagined. Let's play a little game."

Dinah turned around, pointing her finger towards the entrance of the basement they just came out of, about five meters away from Jekyll.

"Since you believe you can protect yourself with these abilities, try running to the position of that door— you don't even need to go inside. Regardless of how you do it, just touch that door, and I'll consider it your win."

At this point, Dinah paused, then narrowed her eyes suddenly, revealing a playful smile.

"However, it wouldn't be fun without rewards and punishments. If you lose, not only do you have to obediently accept my training list, but you'll have to do it super-doubled. How about that!"

Jekyll calculated the distance between himself and the door, and after a moment, his lips curled up slightly.

"Deal, no problem. But it's unfair to have only punishments without rewards. If I win—"

Jekyll extended his hand, confidently pointing towards Dinah's chest.

"Let me borrow this for a day."

Dinah's cheeks instantly flushed with a tinge of red, and she anxiously covered her chest with both hands, saying with a mix of embarrassment and annoyance:

"W-What are you saying, you pervert? How could I possibly give it to you—"

"No need to be so stingy. Just lend me the phone for a bit; don't worry, I'm only going to use it to surf the internet. I won't peek at your secret love messages with your husband."

Jekyll's desire was, of course, for the smartphone Dinah had just taken out. Honestly, as a normal guy, not playing with a phone for so long indeed made him uncomfortable, as if ants were crawling over him.

Dinah's complexion quickly shifted from red to white and then to having black lines on her face. She coldly returned the phone to her pocket.

"Do I look like I'm of a married age? It seems I need to check if there's a problem with your brain or eyes."

Huh? The Black Canary and Green Arrow of this world aren't married yet? Jekyll realized he made a judgment error; however, this Black Canary did claim to have the last name Queen.

"Alright, the bet is on. If you win, I'll give you the phone directly. But if you lose, it seems today's training will end in the early morning."

Jekyll's heart skipped a beat, knowing this wasn't the time to be distracted—this girl could be ruthless, and a moment of carelessness might result in real injury.

However, Jekyll smiled gently, and in the next moment, he disappeared in front of Dinah.

Unexpected, right? My limit for teleportation is 5 meters, just enough to reach the front of the door. As long as I extend my hand, I can—

However, as Jekyll felt his hand was less than a centimeter away from the door, he suddenly felt his neck firmly grasped by delicate fingers. In the next instant, the world spun, and he was thrown forcefully backward.

"All spatial teleportation abilities must have a tiny distance between the destination and other obstacles or the ground; otherwise, there's a risk of the body directly penetrating other substances. So after you teleport, there's an extremely small landing distance. Based on this subtle landing sound and the faint breeze caused by displacing the air, it's easy to detect your position."

Dinah, who had just thrown Jekyll out with brute force, clapped her hands and looked down at the messed up Jekyll with an inscrutable smile.

"Zatanna told me about this, the trick to dealing with teleporters and invisibility users—now you know, your ability, while unique, is not one of a kind. If someone can do what you do, there's naturally a way to counter it."
