CHAPTER 9: I AM SUPERBOY

Incredible, this must be the emotion a child must feel when he saw his favorite heroes, even if they were just men dressed up because they were paid, but this time, it wasn't a lie, it was really them.

I'm not afraid but I did have more doubts, mostly about Superman. The Superman image generates respect even in those who didn't know him, or at least I know that in my world it would be something like that. Batman steps forward and walks over to Robin looking at my arm.

"Robin, is that what I think it is?"

Everyone turned to look at me, their eyes widened and their look of shock was unmatched, even Superman himself took off his serious face for a moment, but then his look went back to how it was before, a frown and a serious look, no words came out of his mouth.

So far I hadn't noticed it, and I guess none of the guys either due to the situation we were in, on my arm, there was some kind of mark, an "S" inside the shield with a diamond-like shape and red outline, it was more like a tattoo on my skin, the same one Superman had on his suit.

Robin checks on a device he pulled out of his belt and showed it to Batman together with Superman and other members gathered to see the information. Everyone's eyes were on me again, the look of astonishment on everyone's face was equal to or even greater than the previous ones they had all made.

Superman's gaze was tinged with pure disgust, I felt attacked by everyone, I felt that at any moment they were going to grab me and start punching, but it wasn't so, Robin stood in front of me along with the other guys, Krypto returned to my side and his pose changed to a more aggressive one.

"whatever it says there, he's not that, trust me, Batman, you should have seen him inside, this kid is special."

Superman says nothing when he sees me, his look doesn't change, this is not the reaction I expected, I feel attacked, my blood runs faster and my body feels hot, if he makes a move I will fight with everything I have, even if I die, I won't go back to being a failure.

"They know he's a danger, it's best to keep him locked up."

"Come on Bat relax maybe you're being too picky don't you think, kids?"

"Flash you know what this means"

"I think we all know what it means boys, why don't we let him with my whip of truth he'll tell us who he really is and what he knows"

The woman put her lasso on my arm, I felt no threat from her but she doesn't let her guard down at any time.

"Alright boy tell us what are you?"

"I am... I'm Superman's clone."

The look of everything comes back to me, it's as if I had confirmed to them all the truth they had just read from the report Robin gave them.

"And what is your purpose?"

"I don't know."

The voice was coming out of me without me being able to control it, I couldn't lie, I guess if the name lives up to the whip.

They asked a few questions, most of them I didn't know the answer to, questions about what CADMUS was doing on the lower floors. Questions to which I had no answer.

"Cut it out wonder woman, it's not worth interrogating him if he doesn't have any information."

Batman walks past me and continues on toward Robin, whip boy, and speed boy.

"Start talking guys."

The guys are talking to Batman about everything that happened downstairs, I guess before they found me, and when they found me, some of the other heroes I didn't know came down and took the freak, locked in some sort of green waiting thing that came out of a ring, they were going along with some other heroes that came along with Superman and Batman.

Superman comes over to talk to Batman, the woman with the rope, and a man with green skin.

They all look back at me, they give me a dirty look, but instantly their look turns to something much but a look of anger or contempt, they looked at me with pity, they tap Superman's shoulder and leave him alone, his gaze returns to me and each time he takes a step closer to me, tension builds in my body with each step he takes, my fists clench on their own in case any movement might not be friendly.

"Easy kid, I won't do anything to you... Okay... well we'll figure something out for you... the league will do it..... I mean, for now, I'm going to settle up with that Blockbuster creature."

Superman flies off, and something in me feels disgusted with me, but he won't stop me from finally having a decent life, one worth living, and no one is going to stop that.

"Hey hey fist boy "

They all arrived, and Robin and the others looked happy, despite their injuries they were acting normal, however, Batman approached again, this time alone.

P.O.V ROBIN.

"CADMUS will be investigated, It's 52 levels but let's get something straight guys..."

Even though I knew Bruce had been bothered by our actions, it was something we had to do, Barry joins the conversation unannounced, and just shows up out of nowhere.

"They should have called. Despite the results, we're not happy, are we Batman?"

I guess the lecture is worse when the calmest person in the league is the one saying it, Barry is definitely one of the heroes with the best personality.

"You hacked into the justice league files disobeyed orders and put lives in danger AND you won't do that again."

"I'm sorry but we will."

Kaldur crossed through the middle of the boys and stood in front of Batman.

"Aqualad back off and stand down."

Aquaman came around Bruce's back, with his graceful bearing of a king and with his trident in his right hand.

"Excuse me my king, but NO, Tonight we did a good job, the job we were trained to do. On our own, we forged something powerful and very important to us."

"If this is about what happened in the hall, you three."

" Correction 5, and no, it wasn't because of that."

To tell the truth, we didn't have an assigned mission, the inauguration ceremony of the new team of young assistants of the most known superheroes was finally going to take place, but due to an important league meeting it was put aside, so we decided to show that we were ready by taking one of the missions that were in the league files. Even so...

"Batman we are ready for whatever comes, all of us, kid flash, Aqualad, the new guy, and his dog."

"Or what did they teach us for?"

"Why let them tell us what to do, it's simple, Get on board or get out of the way."

The new guy was really on the defensive, it was understandable after how the league reacted to the news that he was a clone of the strongest hero on earth, but we were all determined to defend our new ideals, the ideal of the new young justice league.

Bruce's gaze became more serious, but no one backed down or looked down, we all stood our ground.
