The other is Jor-El's niece, named Kara Zor-El, Kal-El's cousin, and ten years older than him. Just as Krypton was about to be destroyed, the two cousins had to board a spaceship to escape to a planet called Earth. But on the way, Kara Zor-El's spaceship encountered a meteor, and just when Kara Zor-El was injured and about to die, a soul occupied her body.

Chapter 129

Kara's decision to contact Clark had been sensible; if she'd waited a moment longer, Clark might have rushed into action.

Clark didn't realize that survival in outer space is far more complex than just holding one's breath. There are countless unknown forces and elements in space that humans barely understand, some of which could kill in an instant. Gamma rays and various radioactive substances are just a few of the hazards that lurk beyond the Earth's atmosphere.

Kara herself could hold her breath for days if needed, so lack of oxygen wasn't her concern. But she knew her physical endurance might struggle against the unique and volatile elements of space. Clark, however, might not understand the complexities; she could imagine him leaping recklessly into outer space, determined to protect Earth.

Thankfully, Kara managed to reach him just in time.

Just as Kara put down the phone, Hal shouted in frustration, "Damn it, Hector, don't hurt Carol! She's your best friend—and mine too! We both care about her deeply. If you truly love her—"

Kara turned, noticing that Hal had used his Green Lantern ring to create a communicator as soon as he returned. He was trying to reach Carol, only to have the call answered by none other than Hector, who now wore a sinister look.

When Hal and Kara had left for Oa, they had no idea things would take this turn. Kara had chosen not to eliminate Hector—she hadn't even restricted his abilities. So, for someone with powers of telekinesis like his, capturing a civilian like Carol had been disturbingly easy.

Kara felt no remorse for this oversight; to her, Hector was nothing more than a "big-headed puppet."

With a shrug, she waited for Hal to hang up and said, "Looks like I'll be fighting solo on this one."

"I have to save Carol," Hal replied, his expression apologetic.

"I know, I know," Kara replied, nonchalant. "Go ahead. Besides, if I took you along, I'd just have to keep an eye on you. Go save the woman you care about," she said, her tone lighthearted, then flew through the open window without a second glance.

Hal could not sit back while Carol was in danger. And, as Kara saw it, Hal's presence would hardly make a difference in battle. So, she headed out alone, straight toward the upper atmosphere.

Kara's speed was astonishing; in the blink of an eye, she was hovering at the edge of Earth's atmosphere. With zero hesitation, she pushed through and entered outer space.

The vacuum of space didn't harm her, as a vibrant shield of multi-colored energy quickly enveloped her, not only allowing her to move freely but also to breathe. This was one of the powers of the Lantern Rings—each light ring could shield its wearer in space.

Kara, dressed in a blue bodysuit, a red cape, a red skirt, and red boots, glowed with rings of colorful light. She looked utterly heroic.

After adjusting to her surroundings, she scanned the distance. On the far side of the solar system, she spotted a massive, cloud-like entity hurtling toward Earth at impossible speed, possibly faster than the speed of light. At this rate, it would reach Earth in mere minutes.

A smirk crossed Kara's face, and she surged forward to intercept it.

Her speed was already incredible; she could lap Earth in thirty seconds without any ring enhancements. But now, with the power of ten Lantern Rings, she shot through space even faster, nearly colliding with the Sun before she had to brake and arc around it.

In that brief moment near the Sun, Kara felt an immense surge in her cells, as if every fiber of her being had come alive. Her strength, previously at a ten, skyrocketed to nearly three hundred.

She waved off her protective energy field, confirming that she could now withstand space's harshness through her own power. Her close pass by the Sun had strengthened her significantly, but she could feel a warning that if she'd gone any closer, her body might have been incinerated instantly.

Nonetheless, Kara felt a new sense of power. Soon, she would be strong enough to endure even the surface of the Sun.

Her musings were interrupted by a booming voice in her mind, dripping with malice: "Green Lantern, you dare defy me?"

Kara turned her gaze forward. In a matter of seconds, she had crossed the entire solar system, reaching the outer edge where the massive entity—Parallax—hovered ominously.

Parallax was terrifying; just gazing upon it would incite fear in any ordinary person, enough to feed and strengthen the creature.

But Kara simply raised an eyebrow and plucked a finger in her ear, saying, "Tone it down, will you? I'm not deaf."

Unfazed, Parallax hissed uneasily, "Who are you? You're not a Green Lantern."

It had finally realized that Kara's uniform was different—this was Superman's classic attire, not that of a Green Lantern.

Kara shrugged. "Definitely not a Green Lantern. I've got ten rings, after all. You can call me... the Ten Commandments." She smirked, raising her hands to reveal ten glowing rings.

Parallax recoiled in shock. "Impossible! How could you have a yellow ring?"
